4 out of 5 stars Ahh, the summer of '99.......2002-04-18

This song reminds me of watching Rage in the late-summer of '99 with my brother, this was the first Chemical Brothers song I ever heard, and I only liked it because of the great movie clip. After hearing Surrender, which held other great tracks like 'Let Forever Be' and 'The Sunshines Underground' this is what made me come to love the work of the D.Jing duo, the Chemical Brothers. This single is great and I recommend this single way more than the album, because the album only has a few good tracks and it's not worth forking out money for an album when you can buy the best track for 1/3 of the price

Signing Off Now,

4 out of 5 stars A "flashback" to big beats and blasting bass.......2000-06-04

Already owning "Surrender," I bought this CD for the B-sides and was pleasantly surprised. "Flashback" is a super tour-de-force a la "Loops of Fury," and it alone made the disc worth every penny. "Scale" was a little dissappointing, based around cheap-sounding, gimmicky synth scales, but it holds up well enough. A good buy for any Chem Bros fan.

5 out of 5 stars Too cool for words (But I will try).......1999-10-23

I defy anyone to come up with a cooler song than "Flashback" It is quite possibly the best b-side ever recorded.

4 out of 5 stars This album grew on me........2006-10-05

When I listened to this album the first time, I didn't like it as much as the other Broadway Kid's albums.
I think this was because I was used to hearing many of the same songs by other artists.
However, the more I listened to the CD the more I liked it. I like the way the arrangements make the use of multiple voices and instruments.
I now find that I like the Broadway Kid's versions of some of these songs better than the original artists.

These kids are very talented. Who ever is doing the arrangements is very talented.

5 out of 5 stars I think the Kids are great.............2005-02-16

If you like the Broadway Kids, you will love this CD. Some songs are better than others, but all are good. I hope the kids don't stop with this album, I will be a fan forever, because they are wonderful.

1 out of 5 stars A Letdown-Do Not Buy This CD!.......2005-01-30

Not what I was going to expect out of these wonderous kids...oh man...it sounded pathetic and kidsy,un-like their other superb CDs. DO NOT BUY IT!

1 out of 5 stars What in the world were the producers thinking?.......2003-09-27

I was very excited to hear that the Broadway Kids were recording a new CD. Though I was hoping for a CD of showtunes after the recent release of the dreadful Sing America, I decided to give the pop CD a chance before judging it.

From the moment I saw the new CD design (featuring a cartoonish teenage girl spinning records rather than the usual group photo) I knew it was going to be interesting.

There are only a few kids on this CD who can pull off a popish sound and they are featured heavily in almost every song. The other children all sing short solos and backup, never being given the chance to really show much talent as singers.

Here is my opinion of each song:
1. Family Affair - I found this song to be a very ineffective way to start off the CD. It is very flat and low energy. It does not make the listener want to hear more.
2. Music - This was awful. Again, it is flat.
3. I'm a Believer - This song was decent, though not at all remarkable. It's one of the better songs on the CD.
4. Unpretty - I was a little shocked that lyrics in this song were not changed. Is it necessary to have kids repeat certain words several times in a song? While this song does not contain extreme profanity by any means, I think the producers forgot that the group is meant to appeal to children and therefore should be entirely suitable for young kids.
5. Pop - I found this song to be very dull and low energy.
6. Survivor - I almost laughed out loud when I heard this song. The kids sound ridiculous singing it. Their immature voices as well as their overiculation ruins the song.
7. Imagine - The song gets better as it progresses. The beginning is full of entirely too many riffs but the harmonies work nicely.
8. Overprotected - Again, I have to question why lyrics were not changed in this song.
9. Reach - This is by far the best song on the CD. The featured soloists all do a very ncie job and the harmonies are very nice.
10. Bouncing Off the Ceiling (Upside Down) - This seems to be a favorite amongst other reviewers but I cannot stand to listen to this song. While is one of the few age appropriate songs on this CD, the harmonies are awful.
11. This I Promise You - This is an unnecessary song. I realize that Michael Shulman, the lead vocalist in this song, is the son of The Broadway Kids creator (Julius Shulman) but he is no longer a kid. He is a grown man now.
12. All Star - This is another song I almost laughed at. The immature voices sound ridiculous singing such a rock song.
13. Graduation - The idea behind putting this song on the CD is a nice one, but there two major flaws: the harmonies during the refrain are the worst on the CD and the speaking voices edited in are difficult to hear at times.

I was very disappointed in this CD. It has been compared in other reviews to Kidz Bop and that is a very accurate comparison. While I enjoy pop music just as much as I enjoy showtunes, most of The Broadway Kids do not have the voices for pop and should stick to showtunes. The one good thing that came out of my purchase of this CD is that it gave my friends something to laugh about in the car one night.

1 out of 5 stars Absolutely horrible.......2003-07-07

I was so unbelievably disappointed in this CD! If I had wanted to hear kid singing pop songs poorly, I would have bought Kidz Bop. The whole point of Broadway Kids is that they sing BROADWAY! The "Broadway Kids" do NOT have pop voices. It is truly unbearable to listen to, with the exception of Bouncing Off the Ceiling, which is really cute. But Michael Shulman simply MUST stop recording with them! He is NOT CUTE anymore and has a horrible pubescent voice. Let's hope they go back to recording what they are known for, which is BROADWAY.

    Album Description

3 explosive singles from DJ HOUND DOG, Miami's hottest new talent. All three tracks are featured in the upcoming Motion Picture HEY DJ starring DJ HOUND DOG. The single includes the tripped out 8 minute trance remix of Johnny Famous and of course the interview with Elvis Presley, lost for 45 years that includes a Romantic Faux pas made by the king himself that has somehow been struck from public record.

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A Must for all Elvis fans!.......2003-10-13

DJ Hound Dog pays tribute to the king and re-invents the sound.
DJ Hound Dog wears his influences on his sleeve and gives us an Elvis sound for today. I love it!

5 out of 5 stars Did The King Say That?! Pretty Rockin' Song!.......2003-02-15

This is a fun, rockin' update of an Elvis song. Guess it's part of a new film called HEY DJ. Should be a fun movie with cool music if this little CD is any indication. Cool stuff DJ Hound Dog!

    4 out of 5 stars Devils Advocate!!!.......2003-01-19

Elvis never recorded "DID I SAY THAT?
I know everything there is to know about Elvis
and he didn't record this song... Yes it sure sounds like Elvis in the interview. I did some research but I can't find any reference to him saying what he says on this single. So they really must have found a lost interview... ( I checked the book ELVIS word for word and the Definitive Elvis DVD collection)
Looks to me like the song was written as a very witty response to the interview and to continue to promote Elvis to the Youth markets. Clever, I like the song alot. But it ain't Elvis..
It is good though. prove me wrong!

    THE EXPERT HAS SPOKEN!

5 out of 5 stars ELVIS FOR THE NEW GENERATION!.......2003-01-11

Just what the doctor ordered... Brilliantly inventive. In the same vein as A little less conversation! Elvis would definately be proud. I bet this is going to be a #1 hit single!

5 out of 5 stars Lost Elvis Song!?!?!?.......2003-01-08

Is "Did I say that?" a Lost Elvis song remixed?
It's similar to A little Less Conversation, but I prefer Did I say that?

Very cool and very witty with the radio interview at the begining which i've never heard before..

    Someone tell me please!

When did Elvis record Did i say that? i want to hear the original.

DJ Hound Dog is definately as good as JXL! He totaly brings Elvis up to date.

I also really like the track Johnny Famous.
