I bought this cd because every track he has produced for other artists have been amazing. At first i was i little disappointed that all 3 discs weren't the same style as disc one just because it is so amazing! After a few listens though i understood exactly the whole picture. the second disc gets into some progressive house but doesn't lose the overall feel of the album. disc 3 gets into some melodic, sometimes dark ambient, chill music. each disc is so different that you want to invest in the whole thing. i love trance that stays at a simmer without the huge trance anthems. some other cds that sound like that are markus schulz "miami 05'" & "coldharbour sessions" , avb's "state of trance 04' & 05', even listen to aphex twin "ambient selections". Great album from a Dj more people should know of.

Awesome album from the Belgian trance master........2006-06-09

If you are going to buy some trance CDs for this summer, this is one you should not miss. Laurent Veronnez aka AIRWAVE a very underrated DJ really out does himself on this album threefold. All three CDs on this album are awesome. This is not a mix album using other artists tracks. These are all productions by AIRWAVE himself. From trance, progressive house and ambient, AIRWAVE outshines on all three styles of electronic music. This is an album not to be missed this year if you love electronic dance music.

Fantastic plastic funny missile.......2005-02-01

"Dragons are the New Pink." Hmm. Whatever that title means, anyway, it's in sync with the colorful, bright cover. The music, on the other hand, is far less whimsical than the title suggests -- it's pretty good indierock, framing some pleasantly inscrutable lyrics, and musical styles that range from lo-fi warbles to expansive pop-rock.

After an interlude of tinkly pop and gentle acoustic strums, the Julius Airwave kicks into some midtempo indie-rock -- heavy on the echoing bass, bouncy guitar and percussion. "Tickle Me Penguin" skyrockets into entirely different turf, with an ever-rising indie-rock melody that is only grounded by a growly bassline. It's a big, boisterous song that is plenty of fun.

At the halfway point, all bets are off -- there's no rhyme of reason for what they do, but at least it's a good listen while they do it. Julius Airwave happily veers into acoustic folk, some eerie growly pop, and the slow, strange "Pink Fingernails." Too bad they didn't stop at the soaring rock song "Underneath the Weight," because the finale is a disaster of tinny drumming and tortured yowls.

A lot of bands go through "phases" where they try out new stuff. The Julius Airwave cuts to the chase, and just includes virtually every kind of indie rock in existance -- emo, ballads, folk, regular rock with a few strains of punk, and lo-fi warbles. So the album feels, not like a cohesive whole, but like a band trying out styles to see what fits and what doesn't.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course. It's an entertaining listen as a whole, even when the songs are uneven. It's a bit of a shock to get the simplstic acoustic-guitar ballad "Broken Tusk" wedged between two solid, multilayered rock songs. The unusual, more emotional "Catherine" has a radically different tone.

If winged bells on the cover give the impression of whimsy, then the bass/guitar/drum combos are remarkably grounded. But a certain dreaminess is kept in the music, courtesy of Rick Colado's slightly bizarre songwriting. "Then you hold the sun inside your face when you smile/the whole world begins to shine like a golden mystery."

The Julius Airwave flies all over the place with their debut "Dragons Are The New Pink," but fail to settle anywhere for long. Though a bit spotty because of the myriad musical styles, it has promise and quite a bit of exploratory talent.

just browsing around I come across Reactivate, and decide to try it. It's a good thing I did, this disc is packed full of slamming trance. A must for a trance, tech trance fan!!

Wicked UK Dark Techno.......2000-12-23

This compilation epitomizes why I love fresh new music from the UK. It's got a wicked bassline throughout the whole of the disk, each song deeper than the last. Anyone who loves dark deep trance and dark techno which is difficult to find will love these disks.

Rank 1's Airwave is stellar. On a grand universal scale. Blackholes, nebulae, star clusters, supergalaxies, and so on. That good. While the jr. vasquez mixes might not appeal to trance purists, if you like a good vocal thrown in, you'll like it. I happen to love the jr. vasquez remixes. What's wrong with a little human emotion thrown in? And while the main melody isn't as prominent as in the dutch force mix, it's still there. All the mixes are good though, and offer different moods. It's really more of an EP then a single, it's so good. BUY BUY BUY. I can GUARANTEE that it will bring much dance goodness into your life.

BREATHTAKING.......2000-09-19

This is undoubtedly one of the trance tunes of the year, having already gone top 10 in the U.K. Pick of the mixes is the Dutch Force Vs ATB mix, which combines a beautiful melody with euphoric synth riffs, all woven together by an unstoppable four-to-the-floor beat which will render many clubbers breathless. This song contains the perfect combination of a serene main hook coupled with the killer beats, who needs drugs to enhance the music when it's this good in the first place? Also look out for other material from Dutch Force (aka Rank 1): their U.K. single "Deadline" is well worth a listen, as are the Rank 1 remixes of System F's "Cry", "Superstring" by Cygnus X and a wicked bootleg of "Airwave" entitled "True Love Never Dies (On The Airwave)".

Six tracks here. ATB mix, two junior vasquez mixes, two dutch remixes and a chillout mix. I dont like either of the junior vasquez mixes because well for one they sound NOTHING like the song, and its not in the style of german/dutch trance. The other tracks on here are very good though. The atb mix is high-energy and the chillout mix is just so peaceful and serene. THe dutch force remixes are very good as well, more trancey and glittery than the atb mix. I think this is also 3 bucks cheaper than the other rank1 airwave singles so this is your best bet i THINK. ENjoy

Classic UPLIFTING Trance track.......2000-07-26

WOW! This one will really send you to heaven, epic synths, driving bassline, this is some bangin' trance! The Innercity Rave in Amsterdam in Dec '99, 28000 people strong, 50 DJs, This song was the "Innercity Theme".

One of my desert-island trance tracks, for sure!

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent! Great dance beat for those of you who love to dance. Also great song for those who are away from the ones they love. Has sort of a pet shop boys feel to it. It is definatley one for the collection.

The first time that I heard this song was at the final of Gatecrasher Disko Tech disk II. For me, this song was the perfect final for this trance compilation. It sounds very british, a typical aspect of Gatecrasher music compilations, and the background has a special melody. Hear and enjoy it.

For avid listeners of trance, this song is a familiar tune to us all. However, even after discovering this song years back, I finally bought the import cd to have in my master collection. I specfically choose tracks that I believe are the greatest of all time, to make sure that I own them in maxi-single form. I must say for those of you that have not heard this song, and those who already have, it is one of the best pieces of trance work and everyone should own it. It's a perfect 10. Trust me.
