this cd has been on my favorites list since 2000, mick is a true artist, the lyrics which i bet were hard to translate keeping the same timing as the french, are very intriguing. It's like i can finally what serge was singing about. Super cool. I think you should also check out Crime and the City Solutions album "Paradise Discotheque" That is also amazing.

One of the Best, Sexiest Records Ever.......2001-08-11
It's one of those records with brilliance. A perfect, non-pretentious, adventurous, engaging, honest piece of work. You think Nick Cave is good... I bet he's (mick) the Keith Richards, the musical genius in the band. The chemistry with Anita is great. I have been giving it as a present to friends. It's also an aphrodisiac, as one is not reminded of Gainsbourg's sour looks, Mick has a really sexy voice. Get it and live a fuller life!
The Spirit of Serge Lives.......2001-05-14
Stumbled across MP3s for this today and immediately bought the album. This is perhaps the best collection of Gainsbourg covers I have found - and to find them in English is a neat twist. Serge would have wanted it this way.
Harvey is a great interpreter.......2001-02-27
The greatness of Gainsbourg's songs are undeniable, and for those of us who don't understand French, this is a great way to discover how great a lyricist he was as well. Although some of the songs may sound off-putting at first to hear it in English, after a while you begin to appreciate Harvey's great care in translating the words; songs like Chatterton (every line followed with "suicide") and Harley Davidson ("I don't care if I die, on my Harley Davidson) take on a whole different meaning with the understanding of the words. Harvey's arrangements do great justice to the songs, sometimes faithfully recreating the original arrangements, and in some cases transforming the song. This is definitly recommended for fans of Gainsbourg, and for anyone who has an interest in Gainsbourg, this is a great introduction, along with Gainsbourg's own Comic Strip compilation. 69 Erotic Year still sounds a little off-putting when sung in English though.

A World-Music Must-Have!.......1999-02-12
I LOVE this album...Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is a dazzlingly, lavishly gifted vocalist. On this album, he is intense and passionate, and the effect is hypnotic and otherworldly. I've listened to this CD countless times in the past two years, and yet I never tire of it...I'm always discovering something new every time I listen to it. "Ruk pe Rehmat Ka" (a devotional qawaali) is my current favorite song, although in the past I've liked "Yeh Jo Halka Halka..." (a romantic qawaali) better. Both these songs go through these incredible cyclic rhythms and build to a dazzling crescendo. I've recommended this album to many friends who like world music, and it's been a hit with all of them as well.

While not a magnum opus like their 1994 eponymous LP, the Beatnuts' first major project, Intoxicated Demons was still a thunderous warning shot fired across hip-hop's hood ornament. Having sharpened their teeth on remixes for Chi Ali and Common, the 'Nuts decided to show the world what they were really all about--best encapsulated on the funk-nasty "Psycho Dwarf," whose anthem was: "I wanna fuck, drink beer, and smoke some shit." Though the 'Nuts were all about testosterone-laced beats, they could also finesse a smooth jazz track, like on "No Equal." Just one of those Boom Bap EP's... A superb listen from start to finish. The only way it should be done, No filler just straight hip hop music. Highly recommened for your collection. A+
IT'S THE NUTS.......2005-10-03
This ep along with their second street level were the last of the current albums that I bought together. The first beatnuts album I got was stone crazy which I bought after hearing one of my favourate tracks of all time off the books, but with that album I was introduced into the crazy smoke filled world of psycho les and ju ju.
This debut album which also featured a third member fashion now known as al tariq is a great example of what early new york rap was about, The beatnuts are producer/dj's first and have a great knowledge of crate digging which enables them to use samples which at the time (92/93) were not that known and they were able to create some nice gritty beats which serves their style very well. Their rhymes can come across as typical hollow raps but if you listen closly you will realise it is all done tongue in cheek which is definatly a good thing. A great straight to the point full of nonsence album of early ninties rap which was made during an era when most hip hop albums could do no wrong, buy it.

Twink (not to be confused with the "Think Pink" band of the same name) got its name from the tinkly sound of the toy piano, the instrument that apparently inspired this album. The toy piano in fact plays a central role in this album, although there are plenty of other toy instruments, with the occasional appearance of more traditional instruments -- guitars and drums, but also cello and flute. And of course studio techniques. The effect is not just arch kitsch, as one might expect from looking at the picture booklet. Nor is it merely a sales gimmick. A variety of musical styles make cameo appearances, and the music displays a variety of moods. Though always playful, Mike Langlie gives every impression of taking the challenge of this album seriously.

I gave a review of the boxing brown bears cd where i basically said this cd is better and more original and represents more of what shoegazer is all about musically. Like I said in the other review If you like ink&dagger,avail,or fugazi you will dig this stuff dadio. peace out & word to yo mama.

Oomp Camp makes nothing but good music and Straight Outta Atlanta is no exception. Intoxicated is a great c.d. with a ton of tracks on one c.d. If you like rap all Oomp Camp c.d.s are the ones to get.

Dis album is off da chain. Songs like Get em set this album on da charts. Whichaway is also a tight song to bump. Then there's messed around wit pastor troy LOKO Dollar Bill and Naudi Shawty. If you want a bass thumpin album this is it.
Big OOMP records strikes again.......2000-02-21
This cd is an instant classic. The hit song Whichaway is the reason I bought this cd but its not even close to the best song. This album has so many hit songs that you probably wont hear unless u buy the cd. If you like the Big OOMP records sound then this cd is for you.

I agree with the other reviewer who was shocked to discover a cheesy rap/club song when he bought this single. Orange Factory has remixed some of the hottest diva vocal anthems...and THIS is what we get from a record of his own??? Blech.
Be Warned!.......2004-10-30
I am a huge fan of Orange Factory's remixes so I picked up this CD5, was I shocked when I popped it in my car CD player & it was a guy rapping over a lame dance beat. I soon parted ways with the CD & I am now very weary of anything By Orange Factory. I would have given it 0 Stars if that was an option.

sure, the beats are great, but mike notar is genius with words. He puts things together that you would never think of and rhymes you've never heard in rap before- He is definitly worth the listen. Best purchase I've made in a long time.

Yeah, it's only 2 songs....but they both are great. Orange factory is a producer that is on the rise. His beats are more dance/dj oriented than they are hip-hop....but there are definite elements there.
The real gem is this kid Mike Notar. The lyrics for both songs were written by him, and they are definitely worth the buy. I'd compare him to someone, but that would only take away from his own style. "Intoxicated" is more of a club song, with the main them involving drinking and partying it up. "Buck Fooly" has more of a hip-hop beat, and is basically clowning on some fool...but its very well done.
