It's hard to believe that UB40 have been around since the early 1980s, but the proof is right here in the 18 tracks on this album. While most famous for their cover songs, UB40 have written a good portion of original material that's excellent. But songs like "Red Red Wine" and a previously unreleased version of the Doors' "Light My Fire" will attract the majority of listeners to this collection. Following in the footsteps of greats like Bob Marley and Burning Spear, this band from Birmingham, England (led by the two sons of folkie Ian Campbell, have helped keep the flame of roots reggae alive with their easy sound. They've even made over rock standards into their reggae template, including Sonny & Cher's "I Got You Babe" (with guest Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders). In their own little way, UB40 have been gnawing away at musical barriers for the last 20 years, and this is an ideal summary of their achievements. --Chris Nickson

5 out of 5 stars UB40 Greatest Hits.......2007-06-09

This item was bought for a friend and she said it was really good and was very pleased with it

2 out of 5 stars Not what it seems.......2006-11-11

This CD does not have the songs that are listed on this site. "Here I Am" and "The Things You Do" aren't on this CD. Beware, the "Red, Red Wine" version is cut short also. Don't buy it unless your really know what it is you're getting.

5 out of 5 stars You will love UB40 again!.......2006-11-05

Fine selection althought ALL UB40 music is great. This CD is a mix of almost all albums from this great band. You will noticed how they mastered their style ( Labor of love II is a good example) Good driving music you will not be bored when you are stucked in traffic anymore with this selection .I love UB40 since "Rat In The Kitchen". Go for it buy it and dont forget to thank UB40 for 20 something years of great music! Love from Minneapolis, Minnesota USA

4 out of 5 stars Decent Collection.......2006-09-07

Overall I was satisfied, as most of their hits and well known songs are included, but I have to agree with the upset reviewer who complained that some songs were cut short.

"Red Red Wine" was chopped nearly in half, and "Give Me Your Cup" was also either a shortened version, or not the version I was looking for.

5 out of 5 stars Great UB40 value with added sound quality .......2006-06-30

UB40 have been a constant within the music scene for almost 3 decades by now. The first 15 years they were constant hit makers with consistent album sales. It seems that after that period, all of a sudden their time as a big selling artist was up as if the public had had enough.

This CD covers that period in a thorough manner. Another version, a double Best of Vol. 1 & 2 CD from the UK does have a more thorough selection of their songs. This one has, however, the main hit songs. With the exception of the remake of Light My Fire, there is not a single song on this collection that is not classic UB40. One could go on and on about which other songs should have been included but then it would have been just as difficult choosing songs being left out instead.

Their music has aged very well and many songs are becoming standard classics, even ones that were standards in other versions. In short, if you like casually UB40, this is the set to buy.

The sound has been re-vamped which can be heard very well on some tracks. Compared to the UK Best of Vol. 1 & 2 version, the bass on Here I Am, which is prominent in the mix, is much more vibrant and the whole sound staging has audibly more depth then on the US version, whilst on Kingston Town the synthesizers are clearer and the slight echo in the singing channel more natural, giving the song more of its special aura. These songs and other newer tracks have an added edge on the US version over the Best of Vol. 1&2 which is in a way analogous to the difference of a brand new LP verses a worn one.

On older tracks the difference is more audible, since the recording technology during the later period is more similar to what is used today. 1 in 10 has a significantly lower and more muddled sound and their first single, Food For Thought, is so vastly different sonic wise it is as if a blanket has been put over the speakers on the Best of Vol. 1&2 version (incidentally, the Left-Right channelling is reverse on the Food For Thought mixes).

To summarize, this is an immaculate collection of the hits of UB40. Sure, I would have like a few extra tracks but keeping to a single CD, this collection is very close to perfect.

U2's second decade often seemed as preoccupied with the band's burgeoning superstardom--and how to confront/confound it--as it did with creating music. The band managed only four albums during the era (only half of its '80s output), projects whose gestations seemed perennially plagued by turmoil as much as mercurial creative instincts. But as this anthology chronicles, U2 ultimately managed a considerable feat: producing a memorable, lasting body of work in a decade where one of pop music's chief attributes was its disposability. The disc mixes hits like "Mysterious Ways" and "One" with seductive soundtrack cuts (the title track to Wim Wenders's Until the End of the World, Batman Forever's "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me"), new mixes of "Discotheque," "Staring at the Sun," and "Numb," and a pair of strong new tracks, the Orbit mix of "Electrical Storm" and "The Hands that Built America," the title track from Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York. --Jerry McCulley

4 out of 5 stars Not the perfect choice of music.......2007-03-26

Cd 1 is the best of 1990-2000, well I dissagree. "All that you can't leave behind" is under representated, it is one of the best of the band and had many hits but this compilation has only two tracks ?
What about "Elevation", "Kite" or "Walk on" ?
As I said for the other double cd "best of 1980-1990", you have most of the hits but you do not have the best songs. Some great songs are missing simply because they didn't have been played on radio, so don't try to find them on this double cd. The title "greatest hits" would be closer to reality than "The best of"

The bonus cd will me you feel in a discotheque ! Some interesting remixed version like "Mysterious Ways", "If God will send his angels" or "Even better than the real thing". The bonus cd is for die hard fans !

1 out of 5 stars Unlistenable.......2007-02-21

The worst music I think I've ever heard. It's like having your fingernails pulled off and squeezing lemon juice on it. I'd rather be shot in the groin by Dick Cheney than have to ever listen to this again. People that like this must have rode the short-bus when they were young. There's a reason the song says "I still haven't found what I'm looking for", it's because the music sucks.. bad.

5 out of 5 stars U bet..........2007-02-13

THE BEST!!!! My husband & I are so fanatic of this multi-awarded band. Way back when we were still dating, their songs hold a special place in our hearts. Gosh, all their songs are pure & natural. Buying the best of 1990-2000 was the best thing we did that day. We popped it in the CD of our car & we just loved listening to their songs while on the road. I think our 18 month old son will like them too....

5 out of 5 stars Old School At It's Best.......2007-06-03

This is the type of Jazz my father listened to. But his was on scratchy LPs and AM radio (although there's something authentic to be said for the bips and pops you get on vinyl). This 2 CD set is great. There are some great drum beats and Ray's bass work is top notch. The songs include a full range of up tempo and slow smooth balads. A must for any traditional jazz lover and great for those looking for some good background music. Something to put on while you're making dinner or doing things around the house. I had to buy one for my dad for father's day.

My husband is an Upright Bassist, and a huge fan of Ray Brown, one of the best there ever was in that field. This CD is loaded with virtuosoistic work, and gives a great overview of this mega-talented musician's life work. It's on the ipod too and we hear it again and again. My husband actually studies it! Well worth getting if you love superlative jazz.

I am a W.A.S.P. fan and this is a CD I play often. It's really good.

4 out of 5 stars WASP more than meets the image.......2006-11-13

WASP has cultivated an image that is not reflective of this really great rock and roll band. Somewhere along the line WASP took off and developed a small cult following using costumes and on-stage antics (throwing raw meat, explatives etc.) This has kept a much larger main-stream audience away from their music. I was recently aquainted with the WASP catalog through the XM radio station the BoneYard. This is a great rock and roll band. Forget the image and the antics and just "Let the music do the talking" these guys are great!!

3 out of 5 stars It's ok, but not really the best.......2006-01-27

This starts of with a cover of Elton John's "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting," which sounds okay, but seems out of place. It should have been placed alongside the last three tracks. It's great that they included "Animal(F**k like a beast). It's the one that put them in the spotlight. Basically you get mostly songs from thier first two albums. That's great, but after "Sex Drive," it seems like they just threw stuff in.
This might be good if you're already a fan, but not if you want to get to know the band. This album frankly gave me the wrong impression because I did that. W.A.S.P. isn't all about sex and swearing, and it's obvious if you take the time to go through the actual albums themselves. I want to give it a really good rating, but it just seems like a sloppy work. Heck, the cover art looks like it came from a home printer. If you must buy it, get a used copy. It's simply not worth shelling out the full price.

4 out of 5 stars Good hits cd.......2005-02-22

This is a pretty good compliation CD. Its a re-issue of the previous "vol. 1" greatest hits cd.

I think 3-4 more songs could have been fit on this cd. It clocks in only a little over a hour. I also dont like how some of the tracks have been remastered (or lack thereof). Why "Saturday night alright for fighting" is on here is beyond me.

The packaging is a bit cheezy. It looks like it was printed on a inkjet printer. It contains a small booklet with some liner notes and info about the band. There are also some pictures in the booklet.

It might be better just to get the first 2 cds though(W.A.S.P. and The last command), since they contain the best songs anyways.

5 out of 5 stars the most beautiful voice on earth.......2007-06-28

Like all music of Sara Brightman. it's absolute quality. She has a voice that is so flexible, that she can sing nearly al kind of music from Clasical up to hard rock. Besides this she is also a first class performer.

5 out of 5 stars Very Best Of Sarah Brightman: 1990-2000.......2007-05-13

One of the best Albums I've ever Bought at Age 59 and I'm a Led zeppellin fan and a pink floyd fan too!!

    4 out of 5 stars Best of..........2004-09-26

Sarah Brightman crossed over from showtunes to ethereal pop over the years, changing her image with nearly every album. From the velvety grandeur of "Eden" to the sparkling "La Luna" to the surreal "Fly." Several of the best songs from the 1990-2000 period are included here, and except for a few omissions, it's a top-rate collection of singles.

It kicks off with two songs from her early pop period, the epic "Question of Honour" and organ-dominated "Heaven is Here." There's also a cover of the Bee Gees' "First of May." Then she dips into the melancholy "Who Wants to Live Forever," the rich "Tu Quiere Volver," the rich "Just Show Me How to Love You" and the pretty duet with Andrea Bocelli, "Time to Say Goodbye."

Then it's time for a look at Brightman's more recent creations. These songs tend to be more textured and symphonic, and less spacey. There's the hymnlike, vaguely sexy "Eden," ethereal "Nella Fantasia," the soaringly earthy "Deliver Me," and the aching "Only an Ocean Away." Taking on a more ethereal sound is the soft "Scarborough Fair," and richly psychedelic "Whiter Shade of Pale," followed by live versions of of "Captain Nemo" and "Mer." It wraps up on a sweet note with the silky, murmuring "The Last Words You Said."

Brightman has a good enough track record -- and a long enough career -- that it's hard not to wish for a two-disc set of her best songs from that era. With this release, Brightman has a chance to smooth over some of her odder past songs (like that Tom Jones duet) and focus just on the best she did in every album during that ten-year period. Some of her songs seem to have gotten lost in the shuffle. For example, where is the beautiful "Desert Rose"?

However, the musical arrangements are impeccable -- there's some electronica, orchestral pieces, and "Tu Quiere Volver" is lorded over by an acoustic guitar. Brightman also gets to show the full range of her vocals -- she sings sweetly or richly, and launches into operatic solos in songs like "Question of Honour."

And unlike a lot of "best of" albums, this is also a good place for newbies to start checking out Brightman's work. Die-hard Brightman fans will have everything but the live tracks, yet this is still a good collection.

4 out of 5 stars Good For A Start, But Loyal Fans, Don't Buy This.......2003-12-05

Before i start with anything, I don't have this album, but not in this form. I have almost the whole albums of this great soprano, and that means that I already have this album.

Songs selected here are quite good, but they are, like what I've mentioned, are not for fans like me. The songs are quite catchy to catch someone by ear, but not me. There are more Sarah's albums to try (Harem, Classics, or La Luna) which contains good songs that are not listed here, like the terrific and rare "Once In A Lifetime" (DIVE), or "Tu Quieres Volver" (Timeless/Time To Say Goodbye). And several songs, for me, are not necessary, like "La Mer" (Not "Mer" like Amazon wrote), or "Question of Honour Pt 2" ( the "Pt 1" remains the best).

But if you are new to Sarah Brightman, a die-hard fan, or a money-spender fan, buy this, but if you're a loyal fan who has gotten Sarah's more recent album, don't buy this. I'm agree with MOONGODDESS, burn this CD, pretend you've bought it.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best Sarah Brightman collections.......2003-08-22

This is the perfect album for the new fan of Sarah Brightman. It is compiled of some of her best songs including Time to Say Goodbye with Andrea Bocelli, Eden, the haunting A Question of Honour, and live versions of Captian Nemo and La Mer. This album also includes beautifully recorded covers of Scarborough Fair and Whiter Shade of Pale. It is the essential "pop" recordings of Ms. Brightman.

Robert Redford's fable of a cynical, young, white war veteran (Matt Damon) learning the perfect golf swing--and the meanings of life--from a mysterious black caddy (Will Smith) is typically rich in subtexts, from racial discrimination to armchair existential philosophy. As she did for the period dramaThe Cider House Rules, English composer Rachel Portman imbues Vance with an American sense of time and place. Bookended by the bluesy jazz of Fats Waller, Mugsy Spanier, and Duke Ellington, Portman's elegant orchestral score is rich in powerful brass and string-driven melody and emotional nuances. Portman once again displays a strong affinity for the plaintive resolve and emotionally longing colors of Aaron Copland's most familiar works, and there are moments here that subtly evoke passages of that composer's Lincoln Portrait. It's a fine irony of modern film that one of Copland's spiritual heirs and most effective practitioners of his essentially male American musical ethos is a soft-spoken Englishwoman. --Jerry McCulley

5 out of 5 stars A soundtrack as wonderful as the movie!.......2005-08-17

When I first saw the picture, the music was one of the two bigger impacts it had on me (cinematography being the other). I had one of those experiences where as soon as the credits were finished I was already planning on purchasing the soundtrack. Problem is the average CD store did not hold it. Lucky for all of us there is Amazon.com!
The music composed by Rachel Portman is nothing short of wonderful! Very American in its orchestration and has often reminded me of the score to JFK (John Williams) & The Natural (Randy Newman/ironically another Redford film). From the scenes where Damon's on the golf course and the camera performs its classic Hitchcock maneuver, to the humorous driving sound as Theron's character takes on the city councilmen, this score proves to be one that must be cherished by all movie music goers.
This is a soundtrack that can inspire people with imagination and heighten the experience of outdoor activities. I myself have played this score while hiking back home and it has performed beautifully. When I play this in my free time it has allowed me to drift away from troubles and distress.
As for the tracks that aren't Portman's composition, they are equally enjoyable. The sound of Muggsy Spanier, Ellington, & Fats Waller are just pure boogie, woogie, oogie know what I mean? Makes you wanna swing.
It's a good soundtrack, one that I am lucky to have in my horde. If you can get it, I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Why is this soundtrack so hard to find?.......2004-02-18

It goes without saying that a good score can either brilliantly enhance or possibly downright destroy a movie. With the film "The Legend of Bagger Vance" you have a beautiful story accented by beautiful scenery and beautiful period sets and costumes. Anything less than a beautiful score could lessen the appeal and, ultimately, the certain quality that could make this good movie great. Rachel Portman has developed a reputation for making okay movies unforgettable. Any less of a score could have ruined "The Cider House Rules" or even more so "Chocolat". Ms. Portman's score is a perfect example of how image and sound should come together to create something beautiful. In addition to the evocative and nostalgic opening fanfare-like theme, Ms. Portman welds together at least three other prominent themes, as well as a virtual abundance of recurring motifs. But, unlike her recent score CD for "The Human Stain", this album contains a much more varied mix of music that, most times, leaves the listener simply wanting more, but at the same time feeling totally satisfied. Unfortunately, if this review has successfully whet your appetite for this album, all you have to do now is find a copy for a reasonable amount of money. This soundtrack is highly reccommended, but good luck finding it.

5 out of 5 stars The Legend of Bagger Vance.......2003-02-20

Great soundtrack, very relaxing and emotional. Very pleased with the cd music, but disappointed in what I had to pay for it. Also, the seller represented it as NEW and it was not. It had been resealed!

4 out of 5 stars This soundtrack was worthy of an oscar........2002-11-07

When I saw this film I remember thinking, "what an extraordinary soundtrack" and I immediately went out and got the cd. And now a few years later it almost always is in my cd player. I love, love, love soundtracks and this is a homerun to me. I don't remember what the competititon was for the oscars that year but I wish it would have won. I don't even remember if it got a nomination. If you like Randy Newman's work, Aaron Copeland and maybe Hans Zimmer, you will like this cd. She did a really wonderful job. I wish I knew more about the composer.

5 out of 5 stars This is my favorite CD.......2001-11-04

I purchased this CD to find a music selection for my daughter's skating routine. I had previously purchased "Cider House Rules" soundtrack and thoroughly enjoyed it, so we purchased this after listening to the samples on Amazon.com. This soundtrack has to be the best one I have heard! I watched the movie after I had listened to the CD, and I must say that Rachel Portman's music brings the movie to a whole new emotional level. I, too, wonder why this was not nominated for an Oscar. Rachel Portman has that special gift to communicate through her music. I look forward to purchasing more of her works.

5 out of 5 stars What Everyone Is Missing.......2006-02-02

Nowadays, if a station plays Four Preps music, it might be "26 Miles (Santa Catalina)", "Big Man", or even "Down By the Station." The two oldies stations in my area, in fact, DO play them. One, now off the air, even used to play "More Money For You And Me". Despite a boast of "The largest record collection in Florida", a request for "More Money" is met by, "We don't have it." That is why anyone who loves The Four Preps and 4-part harmony MUST get this CD.
"More Money" is joined by two more medleys, "The Big Draft" and "great Songs". All three feature nearly dead-on impressions of top vocal groups of the 50s and 60s, with spoof versions of those groups' hits. The Preps first hit, "Dreamy Eyes", is also included. Two more songs pay a kind of tribute to the Beatles and The Four Seasons. "A Letter To The Beatles" tweaks the Liverpool lads (who were supposedly upset over it) and the sometimes insane Beatlemania of the 60s. And "Let's Call It A Day, Girl" is a tribute to Frankie Valli's group in a way that anyone who has heard Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl" would recognize.
Overall, three of the songs on the CD have goten decent airplay in recent years, but all fourteen deserve much better treatment. Until some radio station gets wise, all I can say is definitely get this CD, because "Absolutely the Best" is not just a title, it is "Absolutely" the truth. Buying the CD will be the only way to enjoy these Four Preps gems.

U2's second decade often seemed as preoccupied with the band's burgeoning superstardom--and how to confront/confound it--as it did with creating music. The band managed only four albums during the era (only of half its '80s output), projects whose gestations seemed perennially plagued by turmoil as much as mercurial creative instincts. But as this rewarding, 30-track double-disc anthology (and bonus DVD) chronicles, U2 ultimately managed a considerable feat: producing a memorable, lasting body of work in a decade when one of pop music's chief attributes was its disposability. Disc one mixes hits like "Mysterious Ways" and "One" with seductive soundtrack cuts (the title track to Wim Wenders's Until the End of the World, Batman Forever's "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me"), new mixes of "Discotheque," "Staring at the Sun," and "Numb," and a pair of strong new tracks, the Orbit mix of "Electrical Storm" and "The Hands that Built America," the title track from Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York. The second disc compiles the band's more experimental B-sides from the epoch (many of them remixes), and offers up a concise encapsulation of the band's fascination with--and shrewd incorporation of--electronica and club music. The bonus DVD contains a generous collection of videos of songs from disc one, along with alternate versions, director commentaries, additional bonus tracks such as "If God Will Send His Angels" and "Lemon," as well as a mini-documentary of the band's historic 1997 Bosnian concert, The Road to Sarajevo. --Jerry McCulley

      Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars The Best of 1990-2002?.......2005-11-21

In 1991, U2 returned to the music industry with the phenomenal album Achtung Baby. While this release brought them back to their original status as amazing musicians, U2 would soon enter its low point with the releases of their hugely disappointing albums Zooropa and Pop. Fortunately, after the failure of these two strange albums they came back to their senses and recorded the more "normal" album, All That You Can't Leave Behind. Before I criticize them, I would first like to say that I am very proud of U2 for still managing to create a memorable cd with only four albums, only half of which were successful.

Now on to the criticism. First, the thing that angers me most about this cd is, like with The Best of 1980-1990's release of "The Sweetest Thing," they cheated with the songs. "Electrical Storm" and "The Hands That Built America" were both released in 2002, which means that they shouldn't be here. It's not that the songs are bad it's just that I wish they had saved them for a possible Best of 2000-2010. Next, while the song selection here is far superior to the Best of 1980-1990, there are still several flaws, which I will address later. Also, many of the remixed songs on the A-side should have appeared in their original versions. Last, to put it lightly, the B-sides SUCK!!!!!! Here's what they should have done to make this "deluxe edition" a little more desirable. For the singles, they should have made more room by transferring "Electrical Storm," "Miss Sarajevo," "The Hands That Built America," and "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" to the B-sides. Since all of these songs were released on either movie soundtracks or their own singles and not one of the four albums, I don't believe they should belong on the A-side. This not only would massively improve the B-sides, but also allow them to put in four missing songs. The songs I would insert would be "Walk On," "Please," "If God Will Send His Angels," and "Lemon," since many U2 fans unfortunately like this song. Also, the A-side lasts for about 72 minutes, so they could have added one more, which I would have choosen to be "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses." Next, "Gone," "Discotheque," and "Staring at the Sun" should have appeared in their original versions; however, the remix of "Numb" is more than welcomed here. That takes care of the A-side and now for the B-side. As I mentioned above, move the four "non-album" songs over here and add the songs "Always," "The Ground Beneath Her Feet," "Paint it Black," "Two Shots of Happy, One Shot of Sad," one of the remixes of "The Fly," and "Where Did it All Go Wrong" to the cd. Next, in order to fit all these on here some of the remixes need to go. I would suggest removing the remixes of "Dirty Day," "Numb," "If God Will Send His Angels," "Lemon," and "Discotheque." It also wouldn't kill them to remove the studio version of "Electrical Storm" since the William Orbit Mix is much better and still captures the essence of the song. The remixes of "Even Better Than the Real Thing" and "Mysterious Ways" are actually quite good and deserve to stay on here along with "Happiness is a Warm Gun," "Salome," and "Lady With the Spinning Head."

Like with their previous Best of cd, U2 created an album for "unexperienced" fans only. The big differences between the two Best of cds are the first decade had much better music and the B-sides from the first decade are actually worth the extra mula. I would recommend this cd only to people who just want the basic essientials of U2's later years. However, if anyone wants to truly experience The Best of 1990-2000, I recommend just buying the four albums, or at least Achtung Baby.

Here's how I'd list the tracks.

4 out of 5 stars Did you come here to play Jesus with the voices in your head?.......2005-10-13

What a mixed bag this is! U2's journey through the 90's was a twisting, turning ride that saw the band careening from one style to the next, trying to force themselves away from inertia and only being intermittently successful. While "Achtung Baby" is widely heralded as a masterpiece and "All That You Can't Leave Behind" was universally acclaimed for the band reclaiming their strongest attributes, I doubt many regard either "Zooropa" or "Pop" as monuments to the band's greatness.

Which makes this best of set a true case for song. Fortunately for us, U2's songwriting was very rarely anything less than great, even if the costuming was oddball. So while the band was off exploring their musical wild hairs, they were still writing incredible material like "If God Will Send His Angels" or one-off knock-out's like "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" from "Batman Returns." The wild hairs aren't completely gone, though. It means they had to tweak "Numb" and "Discotheque" unnecessarily.

And it also means omissions abound. Conspicuous in their absence are "The Fly," "Elevation," "Walk On," and "Lemon." You do get a couple of bonuses, in particular the contribution to Martin Scorcese's "Gangs Of New York" Oscar nominated "The Hands That Built America." This collection is also worth having for what could possibly be one of the greatest songs of the 20'th Century, "One." That song alone makes this a four star rating and saves the set from dropping to a three via all the missing material.

As for the bonus "B-Sides" disc: frankly, not much here is really "bonus." "Lemon" and "If God Will Send His Angels" make their appearance here, but remixed (ugh). "Electrical Storm," one of the new songs, shows up again in a different version. And the free DVD is a waste; essentially a commercial for an upcoming DVD release. You're likely just as well served by the single disc version.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty good, the remixes hurt and the 1st could be enough.......2005-08-07

the album is pretty good, even though the remixing of some well known songs in my opinion doesn't improve anything unless you ar a dj or want to play the music in a club. Also, the first cd is good though the second is more like remixes and soundtrack material and is weaker than the firs cd. Unless you are a deep U2 fan and are willing to get some ok(not the best) content, I would rather go for the 1CD version of the album, but don't get me wrong, there are good songs in the album. Good buys!

5 out of 5 stars One of "U2's" best albums !!!!.......2005-01-16

Disc One: The Best Of 1990-2000.- O.K. This whole album has 2 discs and 1 DVD. I mean, this is possibly the most complete and best U2 album with their greatest hits.

1.- "Even Better Than The Real Thing".- O.K. Great start for such an album. One of my favorite U2 songs there is.- 5/5.

2.- "Mysterious Ways".- I love this one too. Very...U2. For me..a classic.- 5/5.

3.- "Beautiful Day".- One of the best songs EVER.- 5/5.

4.- "Electrical Storm (William Orbit Mix)".- This is an example of a new song they out on this album and I think this one is better than the original version (which is in the other disc on this 2-disc set. Another one of my all-time favorite's.- 5/5.

5.- "One".- Another classic song from this great, great band. Another one of my all time favorite's,- 5/5.

6.- "Miss Saravejo".- Not too crazy about this one. Nothin' compared to "Beautiful Day" or "One".- 3/5.

7.- "Stay (faraway, so close)".- Yet another classic for me.- 5/5.

8.- "Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of".- WOW. Another one of my all-time favorite's. This album is really something! .-5/5.

9.- "Gone (New Mix)".- I like this version more than the original. I like this one as much as "Even Better Than The Real Thing".- 5/5.

10- "Until The End Of The World".- Very grissly intro to this song. Then...it becomes one of my favorite's.

11.- "The Hands That Built America (Theme From "Gangs Of New York")".- Another new song. Probably some of you watched the movie "Gangs Of New York" with Leo DiCaprio and Daniel Day Lewis, I did and if you didn't, then I recomend you don't, the truth is I didn't like it, I like the song much more. But a mind-blowing performance by Daniel Day Lewis. Anyway, this one is another one of my all-time favorite's.- 5/5.

12.- "Discothèque (new mix)".- I like the original version, but I find almost no difference.- 5/5.

13.- "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me".- The banda sonora from "Batman Returns", the best Batman there is, anyway, I think it is one of my favorite's.- 5/5.

14.- "Staring At The Sun (new mix)".- I like the original version better. This version is too "whiny".- 4/5.

15.- "Numb (new mix)".- I think this song is the strangest I've ever heard. This one is the new mix.- 3/5.

16.- "The First Time".- Great. I like this one.- 4/5.

Disc Two: The "B" sides.- O.K. The second disc of this album. Most of the songs on this disc are mixes and this part of the album goes down:

1.- "Lady With The Spinning Head (Extended Dance Mix)".- I never heard the original version of this song, but I kinda like this version pretty much.- 4/5.

2.- "Dirty Day (Junk Day Mix)".- I never heard the original version of this song either, but I didn't like it, sorry.- 1/5.

3.- "Summer Day".- I love this song. Kinda reminded me of their other song "Desire", have you listened to it? If no, then listen to it now.- 5/5.

4.- "Electrical Storm".- Another new song. To be honest, I don't like this version too much, as I stated that above on disc one.- 4/5.

5.- "North And South Of The River".- Another strange song from U2.- 3/5.

6.- "Your Blue Room".- O.K. I like this one. Very much.- 5/5.

7.- "Happines Is A Warm Gun (The Gun Remix)".- O.K. I don't like this one that much either.- 3/5.

8.- "Salomé (Zooromancer remix)".- This One is more of a disco song.- 4/5.

9.- "Even Better Than The Real Thing (The Perfecto Mix)".- I like the original version better. "Perfecto" is spanish for "perfect", I should know that since I'm Bolivian. But you must have noticed that by taking out the remaining "o".- 4/5.

10.- "Numb (Gimme More Dignity Mix)".- I think this version of "Numb" is way better than the original version.- 5/5.

11.- "Mystrious Ways (Solar Plexus Club Mix)".- I like the original version better.- 4/5.

12.- "If God Would Send His Angels (Big Yam Mix)".- I never heard the original verion of this song, but this one is just fatal!! .- 0/5.

13.- "Lemon (Jeep Mix)".- O.K. This one is way way way better than the previous one.- 4/5.

14.- "Discothèque (Hexidecimal Mix)".- I hate this version of the song.- 2/5.

O.K. I think this is the best "greatest hits" U2 album. It starts off really smooth, but then, it goes dooowwwwwn big time. But either way I recomend this for you.

      U2 RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars U2 BABY!!! VERTIGO ROCKS, READY FOR MORE!! Drop the 'BOMB'.......2004-09-28

Hey everyone...bought this the day it came out, but after FINALLY being able to listen to 'Vertigo' I had to write something up! VERTIGO ROCKS!!! Anyone else agree? Is there ANY band out there even remotely close to these guys? KEEP IT UP!!

Also, while I'm here...SORELY missing is: Elevation, Ground Beneath Her Feet, Walk On, plus a few others. But then, one would assume that the diehard U2 fan already has these from other sources. GREAT album, and thanks once again U2 (the band) for making so many great memories...can't wait for the 'Bomb' to drop in November!!
