Sit back and unleash the first disc with composers ~ Albinoni, Craig Armstrong, John Barry, Vladimir Cosma, Enya & Nicky Ryan, Handel, Francis Lai, Ennio Morricone, Sean O'Riorda, Nino Rota, Ryvichi Sakamoto and Vangelis ~ taking each film score cue "BILITIS", "CHARIOTS OF FIRE", "CINEMA PARADISO", "DIVA", "GALLIPOLI", "THE LORD OF THE RINGS:THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING", "BARRY LYNDON", "MERRY CHRISTMAS MR. LAWRENCE", "MIDNIGHT COWBOY", "THE MISSION", "ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA", "ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST", "ROMEO & JULIET" and "ROMEO + JULIET", with arrangements that soar and then simmer into pure meditation of grandeur ~ classic film music prevails, as orchestration comes to the surface with pure originality ~ one masterpiece after another is long last presented as it should have been, is cause for celebration ~ each cue is a distinctive gift for striking modernism, touching on the transition of the period in this planets history.

Second disc is waiting in the wings are composers ~ Samuel Barber, John Barry, Patrick Cassidy, James Horner, Mahler, Mascagni, Stanley Myers, Thomas Newman, Michael Nyman, Howard Shore, John Williams and Hans Zimmer/Lisa Gerrard ~ take a musical ride with "AMERICAN BEAUTY", "A.I. 4 out of 5 stars great late night cd.......2002-07-03

volume 1 was a must, this is just a good cd for those late nights of hanging and talking with friends while sharing a bottle of wine. though a few tracks can/should be forwarded through...

5 out of 5 stars Must have..........2001-08-25

Great album! Great selection, put in just the right order... Gotta have it. Originally found at Virgin Megastore in West Hollywood.

5 out of 5 stars Refreshment for your ears........2000-07-27

You know those days when nothing in your music collection matches the mood you are in or you are actually tired of everything and yet you need to fill the air with sounds? Here is the album that might resolve the problems. The 2CD compilation contains songs that stylistically match one another. You'll find very well known hits by Everything But The Girl and Fatboy Slim and half-forgotten or not known ones like "Loose It" by Happy Mondays, a group very well known in Europe and not in the US. Released in 1990, this song quickly made it to Top20 Singles chart in Britain. It sounds just as fresh today as it did then. Another favorite of mine is "Flame" by Crustation with Bronagh Slevin. The song is a fresh breeze of perfect harmony, fragile and sensual with a certain strong edge. The Album is not completely "chilly". Leftfield's "Song of Life" is more appropriate for waking up in the morning than for after-midnight listening in your foamy bath for example.

5 out of 5 stars groovy groovy album.......2000-05-19

This album is like none other. It is addictive to listen to, because the varying rythms are wonderfully pleasing. Both cds have a distinct groove that is perfect for any activity, be it working at the office or sipping wine outside on a summer's eve. It has both mellow and upbeat grooves. I recommend this album for anyone who is looking for something slightly different, but something infinitely pleasing.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant follow up to the Original Chillout Album.......2000-04-13

This cd is brilliant! What a choice of tunes to chill you out to the maxxxxxxx..... Check out the version of "Light My Fire" by none other than Shirley Bassey. Sends shivers down your spine. A must have for anyone into really good funky ambient music....

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars another great album in the series.......2003-12-02

This is another great German electronica compilation, and while not as good as the first or third, it is still worth listening to. My only complaint is that they could have easily put more songs on it, but the ones they chose were great. This is just a good all-purpose album for any weather, at home or in the car. This series is more expensive than other chill-out CDs, but I think you get what you pay for--other CDs are cheaper but this has 2 solid hours of good music. It's very balanced between older jazzy classics and newer electronic sounds. Newcomers to electronica might not want to get this, but if you are into the genre, you can't find a better series of CDs than these.

4 out of 5 stars "Volume 2" in title is confusing.......2001-01-05

Volume 1 (blue w/ lava lamp) and Volume 2 (orange w/ popsicle (or ice-lolly for Brits)) are from England.

This "Volume 2" (green w/ lava lamp) refers to volume 2 of the German series (although I can't find the first one) and is not technically a part of the other series.

Whatever. All are definately worth owning.

The standouts on this import: Afterlife's "Cry", Morcheeba's "Fear and Love" and Urban Species "Blanket"

5 out of 5 stars The Best One.......2000-06-27

The first one of the "Chill Out" series was the blue one: great one. The second was the yellow/orange one: I found it just as good as the first. But now the third end green one is simply magnificent. Tracks as "The Twin Peaks Theme", "Cry" or "Fear and Love" will caress your ears... You have to own the three of them, but especially this one!

5 out of 5 stars Third times a Charm.......2000-06-22

Every issue of the Chill Out Album is an automatic smash. With laid tracks, drum & bass, funky tempos, moody beats, and hot remixes of some known and unknown singles, this series is the best investment I've ever made. I don't know a single person who hasn't loved this CD after hearing it.
