WHEN YOU DON'T EVEN SHOW THE TRACK LISTING TO THIS CD, HOW IS ANYBODY SUPPOSE TO MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT TO BUY IT? I AM REALLY INTERESTED TO KNOW WHAT SONGS ARE ON THIS CD BUT WILL NOT BUY IT UNTIL I KNOW! SHABBY ADVERTISING!!

Generous compilation of '60s car tunes.......2005-09-28
This generous collection pull together over two dozen car-themed tunes from the 1960s, led by several of the Beach Boys' and Jan & Dean's classics. More interesting are the less famous sides, including a garage rockin' take of "Road Runner" by The Gants, the Ray Charles' "What'd I Say" styled "Stick Shift" by The Duals, and the Super Stocks ode to big tires "Wide Track." There are instrumentals to burn here, including a pair of sax-fueled tunes from The Super Stocks, the guitar-and-organ tunes from Jerry Cole & His Spacemen, and the sax-guitar-and-drums Bo Diddley beat "Brontosaurus Stomp" by The Piltdown Men.
There are also a number of novelty pop orchestral and chorus tunes, including Bert Convoy & The Cheer's "Chicken," The Cheer's classic "Black Denim Trousers & Motorcycle Boots," and The Eligibles "Car Trouble." Mr. Gasser & The Weirdos' "Mr. Gasser" may not be a great rock tune (or a rock tune at all, really), but it sure brings back memories of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's drawings, model kits and the trio of Capitol albums based on his characters. The 6-panel insert contains a larger rendition of the color cover, a song list and CD production credits, but no liner notes, discographical or chart information. 3-3/4 stars, if allowed fractional ratings. There's some filler on here, but for the most part it's a good compilation. The only thing it's missing is Hot Rod Lincoln, by Commander Cody. Of course, there's no Beach Boys or Jan & Dean, but you can get their discs easily enough.
A TRUE TRIP TO DRAG CITY!!!.......1999-07-09
THIS IS ONE GREAT CD THAT HAS ALL THE BEST CRUISIN SONGS ON IT, EXCEPT FOR "HEY LITTLE COBRA" BY THE RIP CHORDS. THEY INCLUDE PART ONE AND PART TWO OF THE BEACH BOYS' "SHUT DOWN", AND THEY INCLUDE REALLY CLASSIC SONGS BY THE CHEERS, MR. GASSER AND THE WEIRDOS,THE SPACEMEN, AND LOTS MORE!! A REALLY GREAT SUMMERTIME CD.--PETER A.
