Customer Reviews:
Vampire Muzak.......2007-04-01
The music on the series was very effective and enjoyable, but being written in service to the story and visuals makes it a little unsatisfying with the music alone.
Exactly what I expected.......2007-03-26
I wish it had a few more darker songs on the album but what I got is exactly what I expected it to be. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
Music to remember.......2007-03-13
The opening track of the album by Darling Violetta, is absolutely fantastic. Having all the Buffy albums and knowing how thought provoking the music is from that show, I did expect more from the Angel album. But it's still good music and any fan would be happy to say they have it.
Love the show - Love the music.......2007-01-20
It is wonderful music!!! It is as huanting as it was while watching the show!
more please!.......2006-12-05
One of my favorite is season 5 episode 6 "The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco " I wish this compilation include the guitar solo section. I am completely opposite to the one of the reviewer. I love the music part only. I find it inspiring. There's some Hans Zimmer style in it. I really dig it...quiet yet powerful. However, it start to become a little too formulated. Too much of the same thing is definitely not a good thing. Ahhh, classic tragic hero stories. I can't resist.

Argentina-born, California-based Gustavo Santaolalla helped shape the rock en Español movement by producing Mexican bands Molotov and Café Tacuba , and Colombian singer Juanes. In the late 1990s he made a switch to soundtracks, working on well-received albums for Amores Perros and The Motorcycle Diaries. His instrumental contributions to Ang Lee's tale of two cowboys in love are acoustic guitar-based and, let's face it, a bit on the sonic-wallpaper side.
The vocal tracks, on the other hand, are uniformly lovely, even if the selection of interpreters falls on the predictable side. Linda Ronstadt, Steve Earle, Willie Nelson, and Mary McBride on the soundtrack to a contemporary Western? What a shock! Still, they're all wonderful and Santaolalla wrote at least a couple of classic-sounding country ballads ("A Love That Will Never Grow Old," sung by Emmylou Harris, and "No One's Gonna Love You Like Me," sung by Mary McBride). And don't miss Teddy Thompson and Rufus Wainwright's sweet cover of Roger Miller's 1964 "King of the Road." --Elisabeth Vincentelli
Customer Reviews:
Axe Rufus Wainwright, and it would be 5 stars.......2007-06-13
This album is a mixture of the instrumental theme, which is incredibly beautiful and haunting, and some very solid country songs. I was surprised by how good the other songs were (you still have to like country music, though). There are only two songs that I don't like at all, and those are the two by Rufus Wainwright - one a cover of "King of the Road" (originally by Roger Miller). They are great demonstrations of him at his most nasal and whiny. It sounds like he is a French guy holding his nose and singing too slow. It's too bad, because they are good songs otherwise. I guess if you like him, you're golden; but I can't stand these versions. Fortunately, the rest of the disc is really good.
Yes, it's one of the best albums I own.......2007-06-03
I listened to it over and over and over last year. Such quality all 'round.
Brokeback Mountain.......2007-05-13
The product is what I expected. It arrived on time and in the condition advertised.
A matter of taste..........2007-05-08
I didn't really pay a lot of attention to the music in the film, except for in the most intense of scenes. Perhaps this is why I was so, completely, disappointed with this soundtrack. I felt that if it did even half of what the film did for me it would be a worthy buy. My friends, this soundtrack is shat. It's mostly country and folk, which I am plainly not into. If you like these things then check this out - if not, turn away.
Perfect, just like the movie..........2007-04-21
It is so wonderful, relaxing..if you`re thinking in buying...Just do it!

Album Description
With the death last month of the legendary British bluesman, it is fitting that some of his many fine albums are reissued. It Ain't Easy (1971) features a British blues/rock line-up befitting the man behind the Long John Baldry moniker. This album returns Baldry to a decidedly edgier and hipper audience, with a cast of all-stars on some of the more adventurous material he had covered to date. This is no doubt due, at least in part, to the involvement of superstars Rod Stewart and Elton John. Among their contributions to the project, Stewart and Elton divided the production tasks -- each taking a side of the original album. Immediately, Baldry sheds the MOR blue-eyed pop soul image. The backing band on Stewart's side include fellow Face and future Rolling Stone, Ron Wood, on electric guitar and acoustic guitarist and Sam Mitchell, who appeared on many of Stewart's early '70s solo albums. Features Baldry's biggest hit 'Don't Try to Lay No Boogie-Woogie on the King of Rock n Roll'. Highlights from Elton John's side include Randy Newman's 'Let's Burn Down the Cornfield', which would have fit perfectly on John's Tumbleweed Connection album. Remastered and expanded. Warner. 2005.
Customer Reviews:
It Aint Easy.......2007-04-11
I have been looking for this music on CD for many years, I am extreemly happy and satisfied.
It ain't easy, but he did it!.......2007-04-08
This is one of those great albums that not everybody will have the opportunity to discover. I mean, if you wasn't there when John Baldry played guitar in Wardour Street, with an old hat full of pennies, and doin' that Boogie Woogie music, maybe you will lose the chance to listen to it. I wasn't there of course! and I am not sure how did I get the recommendation for "It Ain't Easy" but it has been one of the best albums I've ever bought.
It begins with what has been known as Baldry's biggest hit...and what a starter!..."Don't Try To Lay No Boogie Woogie On The King Of Rock And Roll". It's pure and absolute rock and roll indeed! but the blues and the best pop music are present too all along this record.
"It Ain't Easy" is a song that I first heard with David Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust album, and Baldry (With Maggie Bell on the vocals) does a great version of this song in a Stone The Crows' style.
The first part of the album run produced by Rod Stewart, so if you love his Faces' Era it wont take you long to love this record too. And the other part, produced by Elton John is as good as the first one. It's more oriented to the pop side of the music, but it doesn't sacrify quality. It's curious, but there's a version of a Faces song, "Flying" under Elton John's production, very enjoyable by the way. And that smooth masterpiece, "Let's Burn Down The Cornfield"...WOW! it has it all, piano, guitar, feeling!.
It could be his voice, raised somewhere in the Mississippi and similar to Joe Cocker's...as if they were drinking some whisky or brandy just before they began singing, but the fact is that this guy knew how to do the blues!. I am glad to own a copy of this album...so give a click on "Order Now" and don't forget to put it into your buying cart!
John Baldry is a great Blues singer.......2007-02-07
This was the first Long John Baldry album I ever bought in 1969. It was great then and the remastered version on CD is great now.
it ain't easy.......2006-11-21
Truly a great listen for most. ONe of the great unsung music giants of our time. I wonder....If Ron Davies wrote "It ain't easy", who performed it first? Bowie or LJB? Anybody??
It Ain't Easy ~ Long John Baldry.......2006-11-10
I have waited a long time for this DVD as it is one of my all time favorites from the 70's. This has some great classic bluesy rock & roll. Part of the collection was produced by Rod Stewart and the other part by Elton John.
Too bad they waited until John Baldry passed away before releasing it in the US.

This CD is absolutely fantastic. There is no musician quite like Andre Rieu. His music does indeed lift the spirit.
Fiesta.......2005-09-12
The music lifts my spirits! It is fun and lighthearted. I sincerely recommend this CD by Andre Rieu.

First of all, why call this recording
"Fiesta"? only for the first four latin-american
works? because the rest of the cd is of
German music.I you want a real "Fiesta"
disc, I recomendation is that disc
of Keith Lockhart, is much more fun and
much more in a fiesta spirit than this one.

Trailer Park Musical a good hear........2007-05-15
This musical is a good laugh and can bring up the spirits of any musical theatre buff. The voices are excellent and they showcase a great characterization of the personages represented in the show. It is a CD that entices the listener to go ahead and get tickets to the show and go see it. Also a personal acquaintance of mine Leslie Kritzer does a phenomenal job on the CD.
A Tornado of Fun!.......2007-04-10
This seems to be my year for finding recordings of lesser known musicals that are just awesome. It started with buying Zombie Prom, and continues with The Great American Trailer Park Musical!
But this show is just all-out fun! The tunes are catchy (I got one of them running through my head, right now) and the lyrics are quite clever. The three main ladies become the Greek chorus, telling us about life in their trailer park, Armadillo Acres, located in Starke, Florida. The show then focuses on one agoraphobic housewife who hasn't left her trailer in 20 years, and her husband who has had enough and starts fooling around with a stripper who is on the run from her boyfriend. Sound crazy? It is! And a whole lotta fun!
Yes, there are some explicit lyrics, but nothing excessive. So do yourself a favor and give this album a listen. You might just want to move into your own "manufactured home" before you know it.
One Of My Favorite New Musicals In Years.......2007-01-31
When I tell people about this show, I tell them it is far better than it had to be... With a title like that, the audience draw is already built in, but with great songs and a very clever story (without ever being offensive or degrading) this musical is a fun hit. And while it is not the old-school "Okalhoma" style musical, there are a lot of musical niceties about the show - layered melody lines, tight harmonies and clever clever phrases and lyrics. I fully recommend it.
The show (and Recording) ROCKS.......2006-09-26
The whole point of theatre, even in a tongue-in-cheek satire like this one, is to have some sense of truth. The "Great American Trailer Park Musical" completely hits the target dead-on. With it's ridiculous pop culture references, use of white trash musical pastiche (honky tonk country, corporate rock, wedding disco, and the like), and general use of bad taste in a visual (and audio) aesthetic, the show is one loaded joke that never tires. And the over the top performances, all grounded in this evident truth, provide an evening of Laugh after Laugh - more so than similar pieces like "Urinetown" and "Altar Boys".
Sure the language, for those who have expressed concern in above reviews, can be strong at times. But never is the language used in a matter of fact fashion. For those who have ever even remotely hung around a trailer park (as it quite Clearly states in the TITLE) or even around those who inhabit a Sociologists Jackpot of research, You know that crude humor and strong language are staple of the norm.
"Oklahoma" and "Cats" this show is not. However, "Great American Trailer Park Musical" is a definite piece to listen and pay attention to. With the general climate of new musicals to be either repackaged musicals from movies (Wedding Singer, Hairspray, Footloose, etc) or jukebox musicals (Mamma Mia, All Shook Up, Hot Feet, etc) - there is a new genre that is emerging, the "in-joke" musical. Trailer Park, Altar Boys, Spelling Bee, and title of show are examples of this. These are shows that blur satire and exaggeration with real life all the while dealing in a specific subject matter.
"Trailer Park" is a hip, new and exciting piece of music theatre, even if not groundbreaking. For those who like to play it safe may I suggest the "20 Great Broadway ShowStoppers" CD - all songs are from 1932 to 1949. You will be sure no profane language will infect you there.
Wasn't That Funny.......2006-07-29
I gave this a good listen, but did not find it all that funny ... or memorable.

Album Description
'Whisperings' is a 'best of' collection of fan favorites from David Nevue's first four albums, 'The Vigil,' 'The Last Waking Moment,' 'While the Trees Sleep' and 'The Tower.'
An Excerpt from the Linear Notes...
"With a piano style somewhere between Chopin and George Winston, David Nevue brings melody and heart back to instrumental music. His neoclassical piano stylings reflect his wide musical influences - Clannad, Chopin, Pink Floyd, Rachmaninoff, Renaissance, George Winston and Rush. David's music also reflects his love of literature, quoting numerous influences from C.S. Lewis to The Bible.
David's artistry is demonstrated not only in his music, but in his thematic approach to each album. Rather than creating collections of unrelated compositions, David treats each individual work as but one chapter in a much bigger story that stirs the imagination and carries the listener to a gratifying conclusion."
Customer Reviews:
Whisperings the Best.......2007-02-05
I stumbled onto David Nevue's piano work while surfing the web. This CD is a compilation of (I presume) some of the best compositions from his other CDs. Whisperings is absolutely stunning and outstanding. Unlike a lot of New Age music where you hear it once and then you move on, David's original works tend to stay with you. The melodies are really quite intricate and his playing is superb. I guess the finest compliment I could offer up for this CD is that my 16 year old daughter (who can switch between rock stations on my car radio faster than a speeding bullet) mentioned to me the other day "Hey Dad, this music is really, really nice to listen to!" Enough said.
Simply said - Excellent.......2005-10-03
I need not say anymore as the previous few reviews have done justice to it. Simply put, this is an excellent Piano player, composer. His songs are deeply touching and moving. I enjoy listening to it whenever i feel the need to relax. It is highly recommended by me.
from Solo Piano Publications.......2003-06-17
"Whisperings" is a "best of" collection of fifteen piano solos from David Nevue's first four albums (1985-2000) and two previously unreleased pieces. Nevue's playing and composing styles are pensive and deeply personal, but communicate clearly to the listener in a gentle musical language. Often thoughtful and introspective, Nevue's work tends to be positive without being sugary, and reflects the strength as well as the surrender of profound faith. Nevue occasionally polls his listeners from his website about what their favorite pieces are, and such a poll was done to help in the selection of which pieces to include in this collection (similar polls are done from time to time to help decide which pieces to release in sheet music form). The four albums that are represented are "The Tower" (1992), "While the Trees Sleep" (1995), "The Last Waking Moment" (1997), and "The Vigil" (2000). Although the pieces are not in chronological order, it is very interesting to hear how this artist has developed over the years. Most of the selections are original compositions, but a few are arrangements; those are "A Turn to Grace," which evolves into a lovely setting of "Amazing Grace," "I Wonder As I Wander" by John Jacob Niles, and the classic hymn "Be Thou My Vision." A few of my own favorites are "No More Tears," "The Vigil," "Psalm 77," "Ascending With Angels," and "The Night Season." If you are new to David Nevue's work, this is an outstanding introduction. If you have his previously released albums, this is a really nice "cream of the crop" collection.
The Best Kept Secret.......2003-04-29
I ran across David Nevue by accident while surfing the net late one evening. After listening to his free mp3 downloads, I purchased all of his CD's. This particular CD is a compilation of his greatest hits. I recommend this CD for your collection. You will not be disappointed. It is outstanding! The music is excellent. David Nevue is the best kept secret in contemporary piano music today. Buy the CD and you'll see what I mean!
Great.......2003-04-28
I've been enjoying David Nevue's music for years. I'm thrilled to see that he's now showing up on Billboard's chart.

Customer Reviews:
Capitol Records, Romantic songs by RODGERS and HART!! .......2007-06-26
I bought this CD along with some of the other CD Volumes put out by Capitol Records (such as: "CAPITOL's GREAT WOMEN of Song","Capitol Sings the Best Movie Songs", "Capitol Sings Irving Berlin", and "Capitol's Gentlemen of Song", etc....)
I have not been disappointed in any of the CAPITOL RECORDS compilations offered by Amazon.com.
All the songs are re-recorded nicely, and they sound very good---especially considering the age of some of the recordings.
Good Surprise.......2007-01-13
I expected a CD with old interpretations and/or historic ones. To my surprise, these old recordings are quite modern and good to the ears. I recommend this disk for the good memories it brings.
SOME GEMS.......2004-09-12
Like most collections of this type, this disc is not satisfying as a whole, but contains some gems if you are a RODGERS and HART fan.GORDON MACRAE's version of MY FUNNY VALENTINE is marvelous, and so is MARGARET WHITING's THOU SWELL,PEGGY LEE's THE LADY IS A TRAMP and DEAN MARTIN's IT'S EASY TO REMEMBER to name a few.Half of the cd is quite good.On the bad side are the vocal groups's version of songs that simply does not belong in the collection. It's a pity that they did not include FRANK SINATRA who was a CAPITOL singer from 1953 to 1962.So if you are a die hard fan of DICK and LARRY,it is worth buying especially at this low price.
I must disagree.......2001-10-31
I don't know where Lawrance M. Bernabo is coming from, but to say "there just are not as many great songs by this duo" as by other composers is absurd. Rodgers & Hart songs are consistenly musically superior to Rodgers & Hammerstein songs due simply to the fact the Hammerstein insisted on writing the lyrics first, thereby locking Rodgers into conventional tempi and limiting his creative options. I would put Rodgers & Hart on an equal plane with the Gershwins and Porter, and certainly with Berlin. Rodgers melodies shine on this album, and I highly recommend it.
Capitol's stars cover the songs of Rodgers & Hart.......2001-02-10
"Isn't It Romantic," the Capitol Sings collection of songs by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, is one of the lesser collections in the series by default simply because there just are not as many great songs by this duo in comparison to Rodgers & Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, or Cole Porter. In comparison to those other albums this one is one of the slowest in terms of the average tempo of the songs, which is to be expected when you have Mel Torme doing "Blue Moon," Dolores Gray singing "Isn't It Romantic," and Gordon MacRae covering "My Funny Valentine." But even Vic Damone's "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" sounds just too darn slow to my ear. These recordings span from the Dinning Sisters's 1943 version of "Where or When" to the 1967 cover of "It Never Entered My Mind" by Nancy Wilson. The standout tracks are Peggy Lee's jazzy "The Lady Is A Tramp," Jane Froman's "With A Song In My Heart," and Les Brown & His Band of Renown's version of Rodger's instrumental "Slaughter On Tenth Avenue," long a personal favorite of mine. As always there is a healthy mix of name artists such as Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughn and the Andrews Sisters with forgotten names such as Susan Barett, June Christy and the Dinning Sisters. The entire Capitol Sings series is a treat for those who have favorite musical composers and are not adverse to hearing slightly different versions of their greatest hits.

Love & Special Sauce released their debut album in 1994, the same year Beck made his major-label debut with a similar blend of folk-blues roots and slacker-rap. Though he has never quite matched Beck's aesthetic or commercial success, Love continues to tinker with the formula in interesting ways and has come up with his best album yet in 1997's Yeah, It's That Easy. Like Beck, Love is at his best when he allows pop pleasures to shine through the montage of archival roots and hip-hop experiments. This album, for example, kicks off with "Stepping Stone," which, for all its blues motifs and street-wise beats, is at its best when it reaches its irresistible, sing-along chorus.
Yeah, It's That Easy is an unusual hip-hop album in that it includes a powerful pro-police, anti-gangster number, but it also takes time to make fun of Larry Bird. The latter insult comes on "I-76," a funny, funky number about Love's boyhood hoops team, the Philadelphia 76ers. Less persuasive are the mumbling, monotonous rap numbers such as the title track, but when Love pulls together hip-hop beats, blues guitar licks, and pop hooks, as he does on "Lay Down the Law," an elegy for a street-life victim, he finally lives up to all the great claims made for him at his debut. --Geoffrey Himes

classic g.love.......2005-11-16
This is a classic GLASS album... I've been a fan since the beginning and I truly think it was their first AMAZING album. Their self-titled debut album is great, while their sophomore album (Coast to Coast Motel) was very much lacking.
This album, their third, is a serious break-out hit. I definitely think that this album and their next (Philadelphonic) are their two best... with their debut as a close third.
You can't help but groove and sing along to the first song- "Stepping Stones" or want to jam out to the hiphop-infused second song "I-76." "Slipped Away" is a great sad song, while "When We Meet Again" is one of those songs that just automatically brings up old memories of long-lost friends and your teenage/college years. When the album came out, I had just started high school and listening back to that song brings up so many memories.
Anyway- this album is already a classic, so I definitely recommend a listen- it won't hurt! And odds are that you'll enjoy it.
This cd is AWESOME!!.......2005-09-07
I really wasn't very familiar with G.Love when I bought this cd based on the recommendation of a friend. I am blown away! This cd is very original, skillfully crafted, and just plain fun!

This Album is an Essential.......2003-07-14
Listen, we all know that reviews are nothing more than personal opinions, so let me cut right to the chase. I love this album. If I were stranded on the proverbial desert island, this is without a doubt one I'd want with me. It's a great album from beginning to end. It's great for: the car, parties, housework, just relaxing, you get the point. I'm a huge fan of G. and I dig all of his albums, but if I had to pick just one this would be it. Oh yeah... drummers don't get much funkier than the Houseman...
They've got the recipe.......2003-05-25
Philly born and bred, G. Love (Garret Dutton) and Special Sauce pour out all their emotion and talent into an enticing amalgam of hip-hop, blues, folk, and funk. The band's talent shines forth the brightest on this cd, their third effort. Here's a brief overview of the tracks:
1. Stepping Stones - 5 stars - The hook "you keep using me just like a stepping stone" will be stuck in your head for weeks.
2. I-76 - 4 1/2 stars - This one is a funky tune about hoops, particularly G's team, the 76ers.
3. Lay Down the Law - 5 stars - The surprisingly simple and beautiful prelude to the bulk of this track is exquisite.
4. Slipped Away - 2 1/2 stars - A dark tune about someone deceased in G's family, possibly his mother. Too dreary for me, doesn't fit well with the rest of the tracks on here.
5. You Shall See - 3 stars - Nothing really special on this one, just an average track.
6. Take You There - 5 stars - Awesome, laid-back summer tune with a sweet cowbell.
7. Willow Tree - 5 stars - Another great song for lounging in the sun, good stuff.
8. Yeah, It's That Easy - 4 stars - Nice piano backed up by G's sweet rhymes.
9. Recipe - 5 stars - Very funky and soulful, great track
10. 200 Years - 3 stars - A little bit dull, not bad though.
11. Making Amends - 3 1/2 stars - Fun and upbeat number.
12. Pull the Wool - 10 stars - Absolutely amazing. This song is one of the most beautiful tracks I've ever heard. 9 minutes and 26 seconds of sheer bliss.
13. When We Meet Again - 4 stars - G's standard acoustic, folky last number.

Customer Reviews:
The best of the late 60s in this collection!.......2007-05-27
This was one of the first CD two fers that Collectibles issued in 2002. Ray Conniff proved that audiences still enjoyed the sounds of his chorus and orchestra in a time when rock reigned supreme. He gave them what they wanted to hear. Both of these albums when they were first released were big sellers! I have admired the music of this man with Honey and It Must Be Him. Good stuff again from Ray!
Classic Conniff.......2002-12-30
This is probably one of the best reissues in the new Conniff/Collectables two-fer catalog. The sound is marvelous, the songs are unique, and the two albums ("It Must Be Him" and "Honey") were huge hits!
"It Must Be Him" was probably Conniff's first album of nothing but contemporary songs of the day and it's a real pleasure to hear. All the songs have wonderful arrangements, the ones I enjoyed the most were "Music to Watch Girls By", "Somethin' Stupid", "It Must Be Him", "A Man and a Woman", "There's a Kind of Hush", "Up, Up and Away", and "The Impossible Dream". Well since that's most of the album there, I know you should buy this.
"Honey", shows no difference from "It Must Be Him' - great songs, arrangements, and the usual Conniff treatment. Conniff was once again nominated for a Grammy for his version of "Honey", and he deserved to win (even if he didn't win the Grammy). Highlights are "Honey", "The Look of Love", "Gentle on My Mind", "By the Time I Get to Phoenix", "Valley of the Dolls", "I Say a Little Prayer", "The Sound of Silence"... well I think the whole album is great.
One of the best two-fers I have!
Two of Ray Conniff's best selling Lps on one CD!.......2002-03-16
Clive Davis, president of Columbia Records in the late 1960s, urged Ray Conniff to move from recording standards to popular songs of the day. Conniff was initially skeptical fearing that contemporary songs would shorten the shelf life of his albums.
Ultimately Davis won out and he was right: Conniff album sales soared with the release of these albums. Both of them were RIAA certified Gold and reached the Billboard Top 40. By recording covers of pop tunes, Conniff sold tens of millions of albums for Columbia and stayed with the label for another 30 years.
Listening to these albums, one realizes that Ray Conniff was correct in his thinking too. These recordings from 1967 seem a bit more dated than earlier ones by the Ray Conniff Singers. In this reviewer's opinion, the most "essential" Conniff recordings are from his first 10 years at Columbia, when he seemed to have more control over what he was recording.
That said, this is still a wonderful pairing of two great albums. Recommended cuts include "Music To Watch Girls By" and "The Look Of Love."
