Taking inspiration from little known British band Curve, the formula behind Garbage was simple enough: Industrial strength beats, grungy guitars and ice queen vocals. But in Scottish fireball Shirley Manson the three middle-aged studio whizzes from Wisconsin not only found a muse but a front woman whose infinite charisma and wicked sense of humor--as evidenced by the title of this greatest hits set--gave even No Doubt a solid run in the hits race. For a few years, the group ruled the charts with shiny metallic pop gems like "Queer," "Stupid Girl," and "Only Happy When It Rains," hampered only by some remedial lyrics and a penchant for cribbing other bands' melodies (see: The Pretenders aping "Special"). There's a discernible dip in quality midway through this collection, when at the turn of the millennium Garbage seemingly lost its fire, but at least the group's token James Bond theme, "The World Is Not Enough," is more Shirley Bassey than Sheena Easton. Fans who are already up do date with the originals will want to pick up this special edition set that features a bonus disc of remixes by some of the biggest players on the '90s electronic music scene, including Massive Attack, The Crystal Method, and Unkle. --Aidin Vaziri

While having the basic Greatest Hits album all by itself is still a wonderful treat for any Garbage fan, the extra few dollars it will cost to buy the Special Edition of Absolute Garbage is well worth the bonus "Garbage Mixes" album. It's got some great remixes on it.

This is a must-have for any Garbage fan.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars uneven cd--when great, fabulous; when not so great--mediocre.......2007-06-26

the doors have a great keyboardist in manzarek and a pretty great guitarist in krieger but it is morrisons lyrics and driving wild beat that makes it flow and makes it great. the early doors are the best; really tight. unfortunately, in later years morrison went a little overboard into excess and wildness and uncommunicativeness. but the doors are one of the great rock bands of their era.

5 out of 5 stars great value for the money.......2007-03-24

if you like the doors, this is the one album to get. it contains ALL the great ones without breaking the pocketbook or having to listen to all their "filler" stuff.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent album.......2007-03-19

This is the best compilation album put out by the Doors. Period. If you are a fan of the Doors who wants every album, or just wants the hits, this is the album for you. Legacy captures almost every hit put out by the Doors. Each song is crisp, clear, complete, and they are also in chronological order, which is cool too. Definitely a fantastic album to get. I recommended it to any fan of the Doors, or of classic rock in general.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent collection and sound.......2007-02-17

This is the absolute best set to get. The song selection is awesome and the remasters job sounds excellent. Very crisp and clean.

Also, "Gloria" is a definite plus.

4 out of 5 stars Hello, I Love This!.......2007-02-08

Great compilation. I love it that they are all full length studio versions. Also it's great having them in chronological order with great liner notes and info about each song. I wish they would have left off the 17 minute long "Celebration of the Lizard" -- this is a real dog. They could have replaced this with the nearly 9 minute title song from "The Soft Parade" which has an incredible funky middle section. Also could have included "Take It As It Comes" from their first album - a very overlooked song.

This is a band that had about 90-100 minutes of classic stuff - the best of rock, really - but the rest of their material was pretty marginal if not downright bad. So, all their best can't fit on one CD, yet 2 CD's can't help but contain a little filler. I'd rather have that than just 1 CD. But it would have been nice to have a remastered version of "The Soft Parade"

5 out of 5 stars Al Green At His Best.......2007-01-24

This album gets most of the best of Al's early recordings, but it missed a few. All in all this is a good collection of the best of Al Green.

5 out of 5 stars Have I been asleep?.......2006-07-24

Just seen him live in Brooklyn NY,which compelled me to go out and buy this timeless Jewel. The show was pretty awesome as well. I've always heard the usual radio tracks and knew he was probably someone very special, musically, but after seeing him then picking up this double disk, I now realize that of course his voice is like silk but the bands music was just pure Brillance.
As I listen to these timless great tracks it's easy to get lost in either his voice, the words, the organ, the rhytym guitar, the horns or the Drums. It like their either all working or theirs a standout instrument, the Voice and the words are always their.
Like in "I'm Still in love with you" it's possible to get lost in any one of these elements
but what really stands out is the Drums, the way he sets the tempo, changes it then comes back to it,while everyone else comes in and out one at a time is just something to marvel at.an audiophiles dream, their's just so much to listen to in this one track catching it once in a while on the radio could never do it justice, and I'm sure you could say that about anyone of these 34 tracks, they each have something special about them and Al is always just right there, steady and smooth.
In concert this past week his vocal was strong and steady and on few occasions while he was singing songs like "Lets get Married" and "Simply Beautiful" he looked like he took a short trip to that other place, the place few of us get to,while alive.
He was still in total control of the voice, mic and the crowd.
It's not just my Farthers music anymore.
I"m so glad he's still with us.

5 out of 5 stars Minister of Soul..........2005-04-20

I grew up on a steady diet of Al Green and I always said when I got my own place, I would never listen to an Al Green song, nor would I eat okra! Well at least, I kept to one of those promises I made myself! I refuse to eat okra but as far as Mr. Green, well he's down in my bone marrow, so I have no choice. It's amazing as much as I cried about Saturday morning house cleaning while listening to Al Green, it turns out that I have become my mother! I do exactly as she did...I wake up on Saturday mornings put on my Al Green and commence to cleaning my house, from top to bottom. The only difference is that its not an 8 track and I don't use Pine Sol or Ajax! Isn't it strange how we come full circle!

Anyway..this is a classic collection of great soul music...treat yourself..bring in something new, or visit something tried and true! This CD contains great rare hits like "Belle" and "Full of Fire", most compilations don't usually include those 2 tracks. I'm glad they finally did a two disc set of his music...that has all the great radio hits and plenty of rare and off the beaten path tracks too! I love Al Green, and as much as I tried to get away from him, it's amazing how I ended up happily with him, just like an old trusty blanket!

Oh and this CD also has two of my all time favorite Al Green songs..,"Livin' For You," and "You Ought To Be With Me." They could have added his version of "Pretty Woman," but this set doesn't lack because it isn't here, just a personal choice of mine. Other classic rare cuts: "I've Never Found A Girl," and "I Can't Get Next To You."

Please, please, take my advice: Run...don't walk to purchase these classic gems! You will never regret the decision to add Mr. Soul Man himself in all his splendid glory to your music collection. He personifies Gritty Soul!

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Almost nails it.......2007-07-24

Encompassing elements of electronica and hard-rock, over dance-beats, with lush melodies and killer hooks, Garbage has proved to be one of the best bands to come down the pike in the last ten years. Garbage's new compilation "Absolute Garbage" (2007) includes some of the bands best work, along with a terrific new song "Tell Me Where it Hurts."

Eighteen tracks total, "Absolute Garbage" is a very generous offering of some of the bands best work. Even so, eighteen tracks doesn't really seem to be enough. While there may have been a few filler songs here and there, for the most part, Garbage put out quality albums, where even the non-singles were excellent. With four albums and dozens of songs to choose from, how do you pick a mere eighteen tracks?

The track list is fairly predictable. As the band's first two albums far out-sold the next two, this compilation is skewed in the direction of "Garbage" (1995) and "Version 2.0 (1998) and a little skimpy on selections from the underrated and appreciated "beautifulgarbage" (2001) and "Bleed Like Me" (2005). Therefore, some of the band's later-day singles like "Breaking up the Girl" and "Sex is not the Enemy" are left by the way-side.

If you are a casual Garbage fan, this compilation is ideal, as it includes all the well-known hits from the band's commercial peak, so as a "greatest hits" the CD works. However, this compilation leaves a little something to be desired. While "beautifulgarbage" and "Bleed Like Me" didn't have the sales of the first two, they were easily as good, and their singles, "Breakin' up the Girl," "Androgyny" and "Sex is not the Enemy" should have been included here. Perhaps a two-CD anthology, with all the hits as well as essential album cuts would have been preferable.

Still, if you aren't really a Garbage fanatic and just want the hits, this CD should be what you're looking for. That said; if you like what you hear and have the money, all four Garbage albums are definitely worth owning. While Garbage might me a `singles band," each of their four studio albums stands-up on its own right, each with its own flavor, and the non-singles on those albums are excellent.

The new song, the melancholy "Tell Me Where it Hurts" sounds "grand," and wouldn't have sounded at all out of place on the Phil Specter-esque, "beautifulgarbage." It's disappointing, however, that another new Garbage song "Betcha" is not included and you have to buy the "Tell Me Where it Hurts" single to get it. Hopefully someday Garbage will release a compilation of all their b-sides and it will be available there. Two other hits, "#1 Crush" from the "Romeo and Juliet" soundtrack (1996) and "The World is not enough" from the James Bond film of the same name (1999) are thrown in for good measure.

This 1989 album was k.d. lang's generous farewell to the country music world that had given her the cold shoulder after her stellar collaboration with legendary producer Owen Bradley on Shadowland. Songs such as "Pulling Back the Reins"--written by lang with coproducer-guitarist Ben Mink--combined classic country and western imagery with more revealingly personal emotions. At the same time, the album maintained a sly sense of humor missing from much of her later work. The covers of Willie Nelson ("Three Days") and Wynn Stewart ("Big Big Love") certainly don't hurt. The Reclines, lang's band, is notable for the presence of Greg Leisz on steel guitar. -Rick Mitchell

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars k d lang makes country music.......2007-06-09

I am not a fan of what passes for country these days... Not a fan of over-produced commercial music of any sort.

I listened to this album (Yeah, I bought it on vinyl) and found myself thinking, "So what if this has country frills? It's good!" My wife compared it favorably to Lyle Lovett.

This is a collection of well-produced, cleverly-arranged, brilliantly performed entertaining songs by an artist I plan to listen to a lot more. ("Ingenue" is hot, too.)

I recommend this without any reservations to all music lovers.

4 out of 5 stars Absolute Torch & Twang.......2007-03-27

This is a great CD, but my heart still prefers "hymns of the 49th parallel". Every fan of k.d. lang (or anyone who loves to listen to something quite special) should own "hymns"-- and then buy this one for comparison.

5 out of 5 stars KD LANG at her best...........2006-03-26

Digging through my Cd collection to record some mixed CD compliations, I came apon this 1989 classic recording. I
really haven't heard much from KD LANG since her "Constant Gravings" single. One of the most unique vocalist around and
unfortunatley she got piegeoned holed into a country/western
honky tonk mold and she messed around with the style and poked
fun at its limitations and over dramatics but inside she was
one of closest singers (country or pop) that could touch Patsy Cline in power and
range but in this present day she seemed to end up being more
a freak of nature with the biggest pipes in the business.
KD chose to come out and it didn't seem to work to her best
advantage as her fan base was not only quirky music nuts but
real hard core country music lovers that new a voice when they
heard one, but really didn't know what the hell to think of
her? She was her own person for sure but I just think
she lacked a direction after Con Gr and it hurt her sales afterwards. Shes been messing around with the likes of Tony
Bennett but shes missed considering people know what she is
capable of since "Constant gravings" was her biggest hit and although
it was featured in a pop setting, it, like her country stylings
was slightly off center and it made it all the better.
"Absolute torch and twang" is one of the very best examples
of the kind of country that I love, on level with such acts
as Lyle Lovett and Shelby Lynn(at times) taking country music
to new places, experimenting but still keeping the central core
of it intact, just blowing it up a bit. From start to finish
this is a vocal show down and with Ben Mink's talent the two
just created a masterpiece of sound and vision. I had forgotten
just how brilliant this collection is. "Luck in my eyes", "Three
days", "Big boned gal" and especially the "Pullin back the reins" are just a few of the many highlights through out AT&T,
proving she was like no other but the owner of a voice that
was not to be denied. I wish she would go back and do some
more of her zany brand of country & western or try something
with a Daniel Lanois/Malcom Burns feel. The music business is
in big need of some fresh sounds!

5 out of 5 stars she defines the genre.......2004-09-20

Bassist Ray Brown once said of Ella Fitzgerald, "it's not what she did, it's what she didn't do; she never did anything wrong". I believe this can also be said of k.d. lang (and The Reclines). If you want middle-of-the-road pap you can always listen to Shania Twain, Faith Hill or a vast number of similar beauty queens who fill up the air waves today. If you're in search of a thrillingly fabulous country influenced album with a standout singer/songwriter/interpreter and downright brilliant instrumentation, "Absolute Torch and Twang" is nonpareil.

5 out of 5 stars Wow!.......2004-04-12

I've owned this album since back when it first came out. A co-worker lent it and after the first 30 seconds of the CD - Luck In My Eyes - I was hooked. After Pullin' Back The Reins, I knew I had to buy it. Immediately. What an amazingly sensuous song! I challenge you to not get lost in it. k.d. soars, snarls and struts from beginning to end. I'm not a big country fan, but then this isn't big country. This is Big Music. Thank You k.d. lang!

    5 out of 5 stars Rhonda's Animal Review.......2007-05-13

I absolutely love this CD. I had an old Album of the Animals and this had all the songs plus a few more that I remembered from childhood. It is an incredible buy!

    5 out of 5 stars Great Band.......2007-03-31

This band produced alot of good songs back in the 60's.
Their most well known song and a huge hit was House Of The Rising Sun.Thats got a tune that just seems to stick in you head.Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood is another one of my favorites here.Eric Burdon and the band had a special sound. We Gotta Get Out Of This Place is another big hit i love that tune. It's My Life is another well known song from the Animals.San Franciscan Nights is a song i also like.
Bands like this were around for a short time, but made some of the best songs.

5 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTE ANIMALS 1964-1968.......2007-03-31

ONE OF THE BEST CD'S I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!!

    5 out of 5 stars A must have compliation!.......2007-03-13

I had long been looking for a compliation that had both House of Rising Sun and San Franciscan Nights (original recordings), and found it in this compliation. If you are looking for The Animals and don't want to buy singles, and if your are afraid you will end up with alternative recordings (which there are many) then this the compliation to have.

5 out of 5 stars This is an incredibly great album, but if I were making a US copy..........2007-02-01

First and foremost I should say that this is an incredably great album, with great sound quality, and should definately be in anyone's collection that appreciates good rock 'n' roll, R & B, or blues. It packs a lot for just one disc. However, if a US company were to make something similar I would suggest the following:

    For the Animals section:
    1. Omit "Baby Let Me Take You Home" (not a big US hit...as a mater of fact it wasn't even on the radio). It may have been a big hit in the UK, but it was nothing here.

    2. Omit "Inside, Looking Out" for the same reason, plus more people are use to the Grand Funk Railroad version.

    3. Try to find the original radio played version of "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place" (It is available on "Retrospective". Yes you need to get another Greatest hits CD, but if you have a burner, you can edit it to your taste). This version isn't too bad, but I'm use to hearing, "See my daddy in bed a dyin'" (not "WATCH my daddy in bed a dyin'").

For the Eric Burdon & The Animals Section:

    1. Move "Good Times" up between "When I Was Young", and "San Francisco Nights" (I think it was the flip side to SF Nights, but I was quite young and cant remember).

    2. Omit "Ring Of Fire" from the album. This may have been a hit in Austrailia, and the UK, but did nothing in the US.

    3. Omit Animals Interviews (This is a music album, and although informative, isn't great to listen to while driving in your car, or playing at a party).

    4. (with Good Times in it's new slot)After "Sky Piolot Pt.'s 1 & 2", put the following songs on the disc:
"White Houses" (Was released on Every One Of Us, and was considered a US greatest hit, but use the (longer guitar solo) album cut).
"St. James Infermary" (actually this is kind of an option in taste. "Year of the Guru" was a bigger AM radio hit than St. James, but St. James hit the FM radio circuit a lot harder, and in my opinion is a lot better. Again, from Every One Of Us).
"River Deep, Mountain High" (from Love Is album, this was an especially great song, and considered a greatest hit in the US. Again, use the album cut).
    5. Leave "Colored Rain" as the last track. Considering that the guitar solo is by (future Police guitarist) Andy Summer, it is historically significant, plus this is the longest studio guitar solo that he would ever play (aprox. 4 minutes).

I've made a lot of critiques from an American rock 'n' roller point of view, but the simple fact is that this is the only album that really has both the Animals, and EB & the Animals best. Unless some US record company listens to my suggestion in the near future (which I doubt will ever happen), then this is the one to get.

Another installment of the Cult Show That Will Not Die, the 25th anniversary edition of the Rocky Horror soundtrack has, of course, the kinds of things one would expect of an anniversarial edition. These include previously unreleased tracks and a CD booklet that attempts to explain the inexplicable: how character actor Richard O'Brien's little slice of weirdness became such a hit that, a quarter of a century later, it's a Broadway production once again. Even today, there are people out there being, well, exposed to the phenomenon that is Rocky Horror for the first time, and the reaction is always the same: either utter enchantment or utter mystification. There's no denying that the show has a certain appeal. Creator O'Brien has called it "something any 10-year-old can enjoy," and maybe that's the secret: something about Rocky Horror's barely controlled insanity connects with our inner children. Maybe it's Tim Curry's magnetic performance. Maybe it's the music. Maybe it's '70s nostalgia. Whatever the reason, Rocky Horror has proved that one need not be mainstream to become an icon of popular culture. While the images and ideas contained therein might hardly turn a head today, there's nothing else like it that's quite as much fun. --Genevieve Williams

3 out of 5 stars Close, but not quite there........2007-03-28

This album is so close to being a worthwhile release.
I don't regret buying it, because my copy of the soundtrack was the older release on tape.
I'm very happy to have the otherwise unreleased songs on this album. The sound quality is good, but not especially noteworthy.

But the dialogue clips are insufferable. A soundtrack album is supposed to be the music, not an "album of the movie." These clips drastically decrease the likability of this recording - that and the missing end of Planet Shmanet.

There's also the plus that those silly remixes of the Time Warp are absent. And splitting up the Floor Show music sequence is a real plus.

1 out of 5 stars PAGES WERE WATER STAINED AND WAVY.......2007-01-30

I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE QUALITY OF THE BOOK OF MUSIC I RECEIVED. THE PAGES HAD OBVIOUSLY GOTTEN WET AND DRIED, SO THE BOOK WAS ALL OUT OF SHAPE. WHEN TRYING TO COPY IT TO MAKE AN EXTRA ONE FOR MY ACCOMPANIST, IT CONSTANTLY GOT STUCK IN THE MACHINE AND IT TOOK FOREVER TO GET THE COPYING DONE. THIS BOOK WAS IN TERRIBLE SHAPE AND I WASTED A LOT OF MONEY TRYING TO COPY IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I WILL NEVER NEVER BUY A USED COPY AGAIN AS A RESULT. I LEARNED MY LESSON, BUT THE SELLER OF THE BOOK SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR MISREPRESENTATION.!!!!!!

    4 out of 5 stars ALMOST Complete.......2006-10-28

I am glad this came out but wish that the 1 minute missing of Time warp was in here and the You're a hot dog part of Planet Schmanet Janet.

KUDOS: For including Planet Schmanet Janet (albeit in edited form) I love the beat on it and love the part where Riff Raff and Magenta are laughing and he tells her to shut up.

I think the reason I like the movie (Which I consider more of a Rock Opera than a musical) is the music. Although some of it is better with the pictures it goes to, The songs are great for random singing. Whoever the session drummer was on this was really good as well. Nice fills. I actually enjoy the movie and dislike going to the theater to see it.

Unless you want an idiotic remix of Time Warp, this is the definitive (for now) version to get. We complain but come on, you don't think at some point they won't do another anniversary edition?

Mr. O'Brien, if you read these sites, I heard you wanted to do a sequel, PLEASE DO! just give us more groovy music, be in it and bring back some of the characters from the first one and I'll see it!

3 out of 5 stars havent got it yet.......2005-10-20

looks like a great cd i have another rhps but doesnt have a few of the songs nor does it have a booklet to go wtih it.

as for the people who dont know where the song super heoreos goes is when the castle takes off and u see them on the ground. The crim.s line and "crawling on the planets face some insects called the human race lost in time lost in space" is the last verse. (yes the line was off the top of my head i've wtched a few times too many)

the once in a while song i havent figured oput yet where that goes.

    4 out of 5 stars Fond Memories.......2005-08-04

This CD is great. It includes more than just the music from the movie. It has some of the dialogue as well. It also includes a song that was not in the actual motion picture, but it is a nice addition. Anyone wanting to be able to remember going to this midnight movie would truly enjoy owning this CD.

5 out of 5 stars What an inspiration!.......2005-07-03

As a "newie" to Christian music, Carman was an artist I could not pass up. I had the opportunity to hear "Serve the Lord" and "Fear Not My Child" through a friend...and immediately ran out and bought the CD myself. The entire CD is terrific. Highly recommend.

5 out of 5 stars YOU JUST FOUND THE CD YOU'RE LOOKING FOR!!!.......2003-11-28

This is an AWSOME Carman CD. It includes REALLY good soft songs, and REALLY cool rock songs. I listen to this CD almost every night as I go to sleep. If you are looking for a good Carman CD (or any good CD at that,) you just found it!

5 out of 5 stars Carman - "The Absolute Best".......2002-08-31

What an apt title for this amazingly talented songwriter and singer. Carman is, simply, 'the absolute best' when wanting to listen to deep spiritual, yet contemporary music. I am in my sixties and yet enjoy all his wonderful music. What I particularly find great about this artist is that he appeals to the old and the younger generation. His double album "Heart of a Champion" I have found to be a wonderful CD to lend to teenagers who are struggling with their relationship with Christ. His album "I Surrender All" is also a great rendition of the old hymns and choruses that many of us grew up with. He is just so versatile!!

    5 out of 5 stars the best.......2001-06-10

Carman sends such a strong message of his love for the Lord and the Lords love for us.I think this album is the very best of Carman..He is blessed of Jesus Christ..I just hope young and old get the chance to hear the message thats sent forth..love in jesus

5 out of 5 stars A Carman Fan from Hawaii.......2000-03-17

Love this CD! Carman's singing has the ability to touch the heart of a Christian soul. Very uplifting when you have those days when you feel defeated. I highly recommend this CD to anyone.

    5 out of 5 stars I love it! .......2006-07-05

This compilation, while maybe not really comprehensive is still very good, all the good songs of Billy Squier are here and the sound is great. I'm quite pleased with it. I feel that Billy Squier has been underrated, he certainly deserved more credit, among the hard rock of the 80's. This disc brought back so many memories and I really like it. Recommended to anyone who likes Billy Squier.

2 out of 5 stars Good grief -- where's "Lonely Is The Night"???.......2006-04-04

I second the earlier reviewer's complaint: "Lonely Is The Night" is one of Billy Squier's best and best-known songs, but once again it's inexplicably left out of a Billy Squier compilation.

Of course, the songs on this new collection are all good; but the collection itself is a real disappointment.

    1 out of 5 stars Another Compilation?.......2006-03-06

Geez, and these record companies still can't get it right. Where is "Lonely is the Night"? 1 Star for this arrogant oversight.

I've looked at all of Billy Squier's greatest hits albums and I find this one to be the best out of all of them. I know that their are quite a few of them, but this one is more widely available and has ALL of the great hits that you hear on the radio. I've looked around for his greatest hits albums and this one is the only one I've ever found. And it also has every song that you need from Billy Squier. A+ album!!!

5 out of 5 stars 5 stars for music but.........2005-04-18

here's an idea..how about instead of throwing out all these billy squier greatest hits albums why not resissue his catelogue i mean only 1 of his albums "dont say no" is in print thats what they should be doing instead of wasting time with this pointless act..but if ya dont have any squier cd's and u want 1 by all means get this

    OFF THE CHAIN!!!

1 out of 5 stars Not recommended for extended listening..........2007-01-02

I had been hearing Tech N9ne's name for years and had his music recommended to me multiple times because I am a longtime Bone Thugs-N-Harmony fan, so I decided to check out his 2002 album "Absolute Power." I tried to get into it, but it only took a few listens to determine that Tech N9ne's music was not for me. Tech N9ne has a very unique and interesting style, rapping quickly and loudly over similarly loud and pounding production. His talent is obvious through his fast verses, but for the most part that was the extent of my appreciation. His lyrics are hardcore and mostly concern threats, anger, and mentions of women, drugs, and insanity. This constant feeling of anger and insanity grew tiresome quickly. The production did not appeal to me either. The choruses mostly contain devilish sounding singing voices and yelling, and the beats are incessant, fast, and repetitive. The one song I really liked was "The Industry Is Punks," where Tech drops good rap verses that show true lyricism and substance. Otherwise, I found his raps redundant and for the most part not too creative. Songs like "Imma Tell" have painful choruses and music and lyrics that are inconsistent at best. Songs like "Slacker," where he celebrates his laziness, and "T9X," a 7-minute list of drugs, have such poor concepts that made me not care in the least. I understand that Tech N9ne has a very loyal following that will probably not agree with this review, but after checking out "Absolute Power" I have not joined this fanbase. By the end of the album I was waiting for it to be over, so the voices and pounding would end. His style is very unique and obviously has appeal to some, but I found none. Some of the songs are good for locker-room or pump up kind of songs, but as an album the music doesn't flow well. I think Tech N9ne may be capable of making a good album, but this isn't it and I don't plan on purchasing any more of his music anytime soon. I don't recommend this album to hip hop fans as it was recommended to me.

    5 out of 5 stars Tech N9ne - Absolute Power.......2006-10-12

After the critically acclaimed release, "Anghellic," Tech N9ne was looked at as a devil worshipper and a negative style rapper because of it. But instead of taking it to heart, Tech used it as motivation to release another certified banger with "Absolute Power." It was released in 2002 and includes the biggest hit of Tech's career with "I'm a Playa."

this was the first tech N9ne CD i have heard which made me go out and buy the rest of his s#!t. i couldn't believe that i hadn't listened to his music earlier being a fan of many underground talents.

his beats are catchy, lyrics are so-so, but the speed at which he raps more then makes up for it. i was highly impressed with this dude. Slacker and The Industry is Punks are probably my favorite songs of this cd, but for the most part the entire cd is worth a look.
