Romance Latino V.3.......2006-03-20
This CD is worth every penny. If you are looking for romantic music with a latino breeze for a dinner for 2, this is the right cd for you.
I love her voice. I love you Lisa Ono!!!
Get ready to be CHARMED! .......2006-02-11
Nothing can be more apt to describe Lisa Ono's voice than that of a cool sea breeze; soothing, gentle and alluring.
Unlike other conventional bossanova singers who frequently inject lots of heavy exuberance into their singing (for example, Omara Portuondo), Lisa avoids that and chooses to go for a more subtle, jazzy singing style; a style that makes her albums so alluring and charming. Listeners sense that light, feminine, honey-like voice and succumb to her spell. It's a voice that reeks of tenderness and beauty.
Add tenderness and beauty to bossanova tunes and what you have is an excellent musical gem. Romance Latino Vol 3 is her best among the Romance Latino collection. It is also one of the very few albums where I really enjoyed every single track.
The vibrant opening track itself sets the mood for the rest of the album; Cachito (Little boy) has a joyous beat and effectively harnesses the motherly, tender voice of Lisa to good effect as the lyrics reflect a mother's love for her little boy.
Lisa's rendition of Besame Mucho remains the best and most memorable version I have heard as well. Other stand out tracks include the festive-like El Bodeguero, Cachita and Cancion Para Santiago de Cuba.
The album's audio standard is excellent; bass is subtle and sufficient enough to lend some nice touches of 'oomph' to the tunes, thus making sure that Lisa's voice is never overshadowed by other elements.
In short, this is the BEST bossanova album I ever had! I can only hope Lisa would release a concert DVD soon. I had the wonderful opportunity to attend her concert last year when she stopped over in Singapore for her Asia tour.

Customer Reviews:
Good Mixed Set.......2006-11-30
This is the third edition of the Nova Latino series, which as of today, spans to 7 volumes. There is another listing titled 'Novo Latino vol. 3' which is listed on Amazon incorrectly, and has incorrect track listings yet has the same cover as this, so do note the differences and that one is an accident listing. The Nova Latino franchise is usually a mixed affair where the songs are faded in and out of one another, so selection and order are critical. All of the Nova Latino albums are double disc sets. Volume III is a great way to remember summer of 2003 and the other compilations that were out at that time like Cafe Samba, Rio After Dark, Rio Lounge II, Brazilectro 5 and Brazilation among others. In fact, as I always say, you listen to Nova Latino if you didn't have a chance to check out the Brazilectro/Brazilutions because Nova Latino always copies tracks from other compilation's playlists - sometimes without even editing them!
The good thing about this set is that you have some groovin summer-time tracks. From the opening track (which is Zimpala's "Adios") to the last cut on CD 1, you have a latin vibe which goes from slow and romantic to easy-going to nice club feels and bossa touches. You have some terrific artists here with some great songs - Timax's "Flight Over Rio", Janice Andrade's "Caipirinha", De-Phazz's "Mambo Craze", Buscemi's "Ramiro's Theme" and some cuts by Smoke City, Hacienda, Mo Horizons, Bobby Hughes, Can 7, Maxwell Implosion and many more. Perhaps my favorite of the 2 cds is the first one because it seems to flow a bit better than the second. However CD 2 has a cut by Bobby Brazil that has a seductive beat to it that drops when you least expect it. But it's not the most original of sides as almost all of the cuts... perhaps all of the cuts are easily found on other compilations. But this particular Nova Latino was a cut above most of the others in the franchise to me because it was a little bit bolder.
If you're a fan of the Nova Latino series, why not check this one out? But BE WARNED... there's a lot of carryover from the many other Nu-Brazil/Nu-Latin comps on the market which makes much of this very un-original. Nova Latino tends to take a page or two out of Brazilectro or whatever Wagram out of France is doing (Costes, Nueva Bossa Nova, Paris Lounge, etc.) so you have Janice, Ian Pooley, Can 7 and several others that you've heard if you collect the above comps and the Glucklich series. And if you're a fan of the Rio Lounge series, getting the Nova Latino series may be redundant albeit, the Nova Latino series, again, is mixed. However there are some cuts that are quality which aren't on any of those. If you do dig this and want more, check out Brazilectro VI along with Brazilution 5.2 that was out this past summer. And of course, check Nova Latino IV which was IMO, better than this one and the other new releases that are bound to come out from this series in the future.

Nice Track Selection but..........2004-09-26
Be forewarned, the Amazon.com listing is incorrect as far as the order of the tracks go and this is really titled "Nova Latino" with an 'a', not an 'o'. And... its incorrect in that some of the listed tracks above aren't even on this set (Dia De Yemanja by Cibelle and August Day Song by Bebel Gilberto for starters) This is all important because the Nova Latino franchise is usually a mixed affair where the songs are faded in and out of one another, so selection and order are critical. This is in reality a solid 3rd release in the popular and successful series of Nova Latino compilations which as of today, spans 4 volumes with all of them being double disc sets. Volume III is a great way to remember summer of 2003 and the other compilations that were out at that time like Cafe Samba, Rio After Dark, Rio Lounge II, Brazilectro 5 and Brazilation among others.
