3 out of 5 stars Has some good songs, but overall it's uneven and merely "ok" - for electronica fans only.......2006-01-09

Adult's "Anxiety Always" has promise, but it just doesn't deliver. They try to be as creative as possible, but what they do is create unlistenable and unsatisfying songs. Not to mention that whoever the female vocalist is needs to work on her style (it's not horrible, but it's just not that good). The electronic style is essentially just very fuzzy guitars with some blips, bloops and samples thrown in every now and then. Overall it feels uninspired and not very interesting. The lyrics are especially pretty dull. Only electronica fans would like this, but even they would be disappointed. It's not the most horrible thing I've ever heard, though; it's just "ok". Not recommended.

Highlights include:
"Shake Your Head"
"Glue Your Eyelids Together"
"Blank Eyed, Nose Bleed"
"Nothing Of The Kind"
"Nervous (Wreck)" (parts of it)
"Kick In The Shin"

4 out of 5 stars Slutty.......2005-08-29

Just plain slutty, but I mean this in the most positive way ever. When I hear raw electro beats and dirty synth like this I just think: slutty. Adult uses a lot of the old school 80's drum sounds, not much unlike the tr-808 or something of that nature. Adult has a female singer. Her voice is very annoying, but that's why it is good. Adult may be electro (please never say electroclash), but Adult's roots are founded in punk music. This is also a positive thing. You may hear Adult bumping at 80's night at that horrible scene dance club you go to, or maybe some awfully pushy and forward girl in your Women Studies class recommended them to you. Don't let that bother you.

At first listen Adult may seem completely pretentious, but I assure you that's part of the fun.

Has this review helped you? Hell yeah it has. Buy the album.

5 out of 5 stars Adult. = The perfect music to a kick in the face!!!!.......2004-07-27

Adult. is pure electrotrash at its finest. Most of the tracks refer to driving and compliment it well (be careful not to speed)...This album is amazing and isn't as much of a departure as some say. There's a few tracks that are buzzy and inconsistent, but for the most part--excellente!

3 out of 5 stars Not bad but..........2004-07-06

The lyrics and vocals get on my nerves. It sounds way too intentional to be genuinly wierd. The music is good. I love the instrumental tracks. Maybe she should get a voice pedal and concentrate on using her voice as an instrument. That would be Fantastical!

5 out of 5 stars ok so...........2004-05-22

chances are this is better than anything you own. so buy it. it's derivative of early 80's synth (and punk) music, but is still probably better than anything you own. and it still manages to sound quite original. and it's great to dance to. and they're great live. and their record label is great. so buy it ok?

Album Description

"Always Faithful" celebrates the warmth and humor of the songs that helped America cope with the separation, loneliness and uncertainty of WWII, and feelings that run too deep for words alone. The music & lyrics are as meaningful & relevant today as in 1945, making this collection a treasured gift at any time, especially now.

5 out of 5 stars A Comment From Tom Brokaw's "Greatest Generation".......2002-07-23

In 1943 I was with the U.S. Army Air Force in North Africa. The girl I was to marry was home in Kentucky. She and her mother were listening to the radio. Dinah Shore came on singing "You'll Never Know" which brought tears to my girl friends eyes. In that moment her mother realized ours was more than just a casual friendship. We have now been married over 58 years and "You'll Newer Know" has become our theme song. Bobbie Lee Norman does marvelous renditions of that song and the other WWII song on the CD. We play "Always Faithful" on our stereo each evening after we retire for the night.

This album bring back memories of my parents music when we were a very young family. I can remember my parents hearing these tunes come on the radio and spontaneously dancing about the kitchen of our beach house. The romance of the era, the feelings of being separated from loved ones and the hopes that when the horror of the conflicts were over all would return to normal are now universal, especially with our armed forces once again in harms way fighting for freedom. These classic tunes aren't just for those of the older generations. These songs set a mood that every romantic will love. Bobbie's smooth, silky, sultry voice dances amoung the fine arrangements like a ballerina with grace and definition. I'd recommend this CD to anyone who loves sitting by the fireside with their lover, sipping champagne and munching on strawberries. This is definately your soundtrack. I especially love her rendition of "As Time Goes By." And you can count on this CD being out during the holidays. With "Stardust" and "I'll be home for Christmas" it sets the mood for a great celebration of Life. Thanks Bobbie for bring back precious memories and for providing a soundtrack for making more of my own.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Blank Eyed, Nose Bleed........2004-10-26

Yes, this album delivers an energetic "kick in the shins," and with its rude and clever lyrical mentality, Anxiety Always is a sexy addition to Adult's discography. "Shake Your Head" is sociopathically catchy, "Glue Your Eyelids Together," a hilariously morbid track, as is the title-indicative "Kick In The Shins." "People, You Can Confuse" and "We Know How To Have Fun" are geniously lyrically woven with flat-effect vocals. Excellent album. I recommend to any fan of electroclash or neo-new wave.

5 out of 5 stars Anxiety always punched a hole in my mind.......2004-09-12

I tried dancing to this a while back and had the most hardcore awesome seizure ever because I nearly reached the energy level of Anxiety Always, at which point it took me over. I started punching out windows and drowned a baby in my blood.

Anxiety Always has awesome beats and the bass playing is the closest imaginable aural representation of male sexuality. And then there's the lyrics like "Could've been me/could've been you/nah nah nah/ni ni ni" that prove that rhyming is for conformists. The chick's voice is like your mother when she beats you, or really any woman with authority distilled to the core. I listen to this around people and am totally embarassed because I embrace it at the basest level while they simply gawk at its weirdness. <3 Adult., adult. forever.
