So many compilations to choose from in today's hot dancehall scene- luckily, I get free promos at work and can listen to all of them with no worrying about deciding which one to get.

This collection fetaures many of the same names as many of the others- Buju Banton, Red Hat, and Cobra- and introduces a few new names on the scene, Lady Saw, Madd Anju, and Kiprich.

The cd overall is good and worth a listen- especially if you are trying to keep up with the Jones' on the dancehall scene. The rhymes are modern and the beats heading more decidedly towards hip hop, but at the core, the dancehall grooves are still very evident.

After listening to this amazing CD I thought of all the wonderful hits that have graced our ears over the years. With this one CD you have managed to capture almost a life time of songs in one CD. Good Collection of music from the year.......2001-12-21

Given the music is a little outdated and most of you don't like remixes but i do and a lot of people do too. The music is tight, good upbeat as opposed to the usual slow original songs. If you want the original songs get the actual cd, otherwise stop complaining, the cd shows what songs it includes and it said if they're remixed so why you expecting different. Besides most people still listen to music from the 90s so who cares if it's older music. Say my name is an old jam from Destiny's Child and so are a lot of other songs on the cd. Besides you have no reason to complain, you can always return the cd if you don't like it.

Not the right hits at the right time........2000-11-13

PLATINUM HITS 2000, is an OK album. But some of the songs that are on this CD aren't these artists' most recent hits. And some of them haven't even been played on the radio at all. Like Ricky Martin's song, Maria. That song was never played on the radio...so it can't really be one of his biggest hits. Of course, some of the songs have been major hits. Destiney Child's most recent hit right now is Independent Women, but I guess that hit didn't come out in time for the making and release of this CD. But they did have another hit after Say My Name and before the release of this CD, which is Jumpin'Jumpin. Personally, I think Independent Women is Destiney Child's best song...better than Say My Name and Jumpin' Jumpin'. One group I did not see on this CD (and one of my all-time favorites) is the Backstreet Boys. They've had many #1 hits and I think they should've been on this CD. Some of these bands and artists on this CD were artists and bands I've never even heard of before...especially toward the end of the CD. I'll admit though, some of the songs on this CD were songs that I liked. But most of them, I could do without. So if you really like most of the songs on this CD, then I recommend this to you. Otherwise, don't even bother.

Platinum Hits 2000 review.......2000-09-09

This CD is tight. almost every song on here is cool. I mean, almost anybody could enjoy it. Its got Will Smith Blaque and tons of other stars of today. I saw the commercial on tv and I called them up and ordered it for me and three of my friends. They enjoyed it so much they sent me thank you notes and actually a flower!!! If i could pick any CD to buy this fall.. this would be it!

A (Re) Mixed Blessing.......2000-09-09

Sony's entry in the Now and Totally Hits series is a mixed or should I say remixed blessing. Whereas the Now and (99%) of the Totally Hits series have been the original hits, Sony has decided to throw in some inferior remixes on their outing. So, Destiny's Child, Maxwell and the Jessica Simpson song have been remixed and are sure to remind of you of how much better the original mixes were. There are good tracks here: Blaque, Mary Mary, Madison Avenue and Chicane w/Bryan Adams are great singles. But why did Sony have to include old songs by Lauryn Hill, Shawn Mullins and Ricky Martin? Overall a mixed blessing. Buy it only if you are looking for some good singles from mediocre albums.

This is one of the best CD's ever.It is right up at par with the best.

Great Compilation and Great Sound! .......2005-08-21

A very good retrospective of the band's work and with "Mary's Boy Child As Well!" The remixes are an added bonus with all the tracks remastered and given a very modern sound and feel. Not for traditionalists who want something closer to the original but very accessible for the newer generation of Boney M fans. Good cd sound quality and track selections. Highly recommended!

All remixes..........2001-01-10

I bought this CD in the hopes that I could get the song from the movie "Boogie Nights." Sure, "Sunny" is on the CD, but it's not the ORIGINAL version, because all the songs are remixed. Some are clearly labled "Club Mix," but all the rest are mixes, too. This means that I can play this CD in this day and age without the "disco riddicule," but still...if I had known that this CD didn't have any "original" cuts on it I might have gotten another Boney M. I'll still likely buy another CD by them, but I can't complain that much about this one. It's good for parties and clubs, and stuff, even in 2001.

Nice remixes of some 70s classic disco hits........2000-12-28

Boney M were one of the most succesful bands in Europe during the 1977-1980 period. Infact, their popularity at the time rivaled that of ABBA, even though in the long run the Super Trouper Swedes have proved to be no match for this manufactured pop band. Only 1 of the singers pictured on the sleeve actually sang on the records. All the male vocals are done by Frank Farian, the man behind another lipsinging band, Milli Vanilli.

Nevertheless, Boney M made some great pop/disco songs and their rendition of the Jamaican nursury rhyme "Brown Girl in the ring" is fantastic. The songs range form the spiritual, "Rivers of Babylon" (one of the biggest selling singles of all time in Europe), to the silly "Daddy Cool". In between there are remakes of classics, like Belafonte's "Mary's Boy child" (a pan- European number 1 in 1978) and Cher's "Sunny".

Be warned, these are not the original versions of the mega hits, this is strictly an album of remixes. The vocals are unchanged, but the music is updated to the electronic sound that is popular today in Europe. The new mixes are not that bad, but they sound too mechanical and generic. Look for Boney M Gold and its companion More Gold if you are interested in the original (and far superior) versions.

East or West Boney is the Best.......2000-06-22

Boney M is among the very old music groups which took on the world in the early 70's. They captured the hearts of the people then and they remained captured in peoples hearts even today. I think this album has Boney M's all time hit songs which will make people refresh their memories of their good old times with them. There is no way out or no option left for you my dear friend. You gotta have it.

This is a Various Hits Pick - Dance Hits Super Mix 2000. Super indeed. Most of the numbers are cool and picks of the super Dance hits 2000 that one would luv to sway on floor and tap the feet to its beat. Of coz, its got the new and old, fast and slow tracks. Nevertheless, easy listening and refreshing mind. Beginning number 'Backstreet back alright' makes feel rock body to tune up. The new kid on the Block 'Jordan Knight' with his number 'Give it to you' is a real change. Sun is shining by Bob Marley is an evergreen number not to miss out. Big Big world is my fav number followed by 'It's all because of you' by 98 degrees, a soft number I luv to hear. We like to party by Vengaboys is passing one coz its a repeat number from the Vengaboys album and sure, everybody would luv to keep Vengaboys hits in collection! Tarzan and Jane sounds like Aqua but its real cool pick to hum along. Mambo is good like all the mambo numbers and Mambo music is the best after reggae,salsa n Tango, no doubt! Overall, nice pick!

This Cd meets your expectation if you want songs that have an upbeet because you are just too tired of those slow songs. Most of the songs here i like, like sexual by amber, i have the cd for more than a year and i never got tired of amber.

I just spent an academic semester in London and knew I had to get a CD that would be a great momento of my London clubbing nights. I picked out this double CD, not knowing 75% of the artists or songs, but it hasn't disappointed me in the least. I've been listening to it atleast once a day (a sign of a good choice and investment), and I've brought it with me to liven quite a few parties. A brilliant dance-party generator!

Great Freaks!.......2000-05-31

A German band on Rephlex? You're kidding me? No, it's true. Sadly enough, the CD will only be fully enjoyable if you're a German yourself. But even if you're not able to understand German you might enjoy this CD a lot. It is a weird mix of different styles. It features electronica which sounds as if it was done on old Atari's but which is amazingly catchy and sophisticated. It features parodies of German "Schlager" - which is music you don't really want to know (listen to "Weihnachten auf Hawaii" and keep in mind it's a parody). It features weird mixes of electronica and samples from tapes for children, tapes for Yoga etc. Big fun. One of my favourites in that category is the song where they use samples of screaming pigs and of a woman talking about how to relax. So if you're willing to enjoy some funny music which is very well done then you should go for this CD.

As a freshman effort, this is ausgezeichnet! Wie 'ne Deutsche DEVO, die durch ein Food Processor geschwummen hat, only to be devoured by NKOTB-T-Shirt-wearing sharks at the tide-line. Frantic und anxiety-ridden, pfurzvoll und ubergegeben, alle trenden sind im digital-essig ge-soaking, fermenting into a choppity micro-train wreck... Worth it if only for the unbeatable "Party Ganze Nacht."
