This was supposed to be the big "comeback album" from one of the greatest musicians and vocalists of all time. Instead it got overlooked and underplayed as a "1950's hasbeen trying to get back to his glory" What is wrong with these people? Don't they know what got them there in the first place. I must admit that when I heard that Dion was putting out an album back in 1989 I thought to myself "what's with these 1950's guys? Don't they get it?" So for years I just ingored it. I'd see it in the store and pass it. Then one day I saw his video for "Written on Subway Walls" My jaw dropped. The following week I bought it and listened....and listened....and listened and eventually fell asleep because it was getting late. I couldn't put it down. Wow! Dion still has it. Even 17 years later "Yo Frankie" is still one of my favorites. And this is coming from a 35 year old who wasn't even born when Dion was hitting the charts. For those of you out there listening to Britney, Jessica, Justin or Hip Hop you better wake up and realize where it came from. Get this album and listen to some real music for once. Dion...you still rock!!

I own original LP's and 45's of Dion and the Belmonts but when
I purchased this I had no idea of how great a piece of work by Dion and all his guests artists this would be. Each song has a
story (I would love to get the lyrics to this cd), and each
arrangment is flawless. It makes you want to turn the radio up
and let the world listen to music like it used to be, dynamic
and romantic. Ever since I heard "I Wonder Why" by Dion and the Belmonts I knew this man was special. This CD may be the best keep secret in music. Dions music will live forever!

Dion releases an album like this in 1967 and he's bigger than Elvis. But it took the production and guitar of Dave Edmunds to showcase Dion's great voice in the perfect set of songs. This music is pop with a point and proof that radio today is absolutely unconcerned with great new music. Tom Waits' Serenade alone is worth the price of this disc and about half a dozen copies of the Best of Bruce Springsteen. Dion and Edmunds together are like Elvis and Scotty Moore or Ozzy and Iommi: great individually but classic together.

5 out of 5 stars One of the better "Mountain Stage" cds.......2006-12-22

There is a nice assortment of artists on this one.

The highlight is "Misguided Angel" by the Cowboy Junkies. The singer's voice is angelic and ethereal. It is an improvement from the already great version on their Trinity Sessions cd.

"Renegade" by Warren Zevon is a stripped down, accoustic version where Zevon's voice is emotional and cracks in all the right places.

Marshall Crenshaw puts more zip into the power pop gem "Cynical Girl" and it is a winner.

Bruce Cockburn's "Waiting on a Miracle" is a wonderful, slow burner with tasty guitar licks all over the place.

I love Alex Chilton's "Guatana Amerika" which is played nice and raw...like a 1960's garage band.

There is a nice variety here and the performances are above average.

Just to correct the other reviewer, The Fabulous Twister Sisters WAS a joint partnership between violinist/vocalist, Deni Bonet and vocalist/guitarist, Julie Adams, which broke up when Deni left the show a few years ago, to pursue a solo career. I agree about the quality of this record, though, of which the high spot is the chilling duet between Warren Zevon on piano and Deni Bonet on violin

The Twister Sisters is really Julie Adams with a backup band and she is fantastic. A wonderful combo of Emmylou Harris and Sarah MacLachlan sounds. Sarah is on here too, sounding sultry and ethereal. Alex Chilton is stripped down to a trio and offering up something wry and catchy. Martin Crenshaw is his usual playful self. Warren Zevon is not wry or humorous on this one - he does one of those Southener lamenting over the south's loss of the Civil War - and he sounds convincing to me.

I have vol 3 and vol 2. Vol 3 is my favorite out of the two,

This is a great cd! I really hope that people will take a listen and use this as a jumping off place to listen deeper to some of the artists who have paid tribute to NRBQ on this cd. Take special note of Matt Hebert from Ware River Club (and buy their new "Cathedral" cd, too). You really have to give Spirit House Records a lot of credit for pulling this project together and getting it out there to Q people everywhere. Buy one for yourself and one as a gift.

These guys have been going strong for 35 years. Thank all the wonderful artists who appear on this CD for recognizing the Q's talent. If you haven't heard of NRBQ buy an album and if you haven't seen them make sure you do just once and you'll be hooked. Thank you to Spirithouse for creating this long awaited tribute album, hopefully it will create new Q listeners. A must have for every NRBQ fan

To be inducted into the Hall of Fame has to tell you something about an entertainer. Dion was inducted in 1989. If you have not heard of Dion or listened to him since his early days, prepare for a treat! This CD came out in 1989 and was produced by Dave Edmunds, another great rocker/legend whose best known hit was "I Hear You Knocking".

"Yo Frankie" is a true taste of New York, the home of Dion, whose career spanned for several decades. This CD includes backup vocals from Paul Simon, Lou Reed, Bryan Adams and Patty Smyth.

Out there in videoland, there remains a video performance of "Written on the Subway Walls" and Paul Simon makes a cameo as well as backup. Every once in a while there are videos that I may never see again, but was lucky enough to copy from TV....the long-gone days when VH1 was about music!!

"Gotta Get To You" is an upbeat, steady fast-rhythm song that is so perfect to workout to and I love to hear the song. And the other songs or ballads are equally as great.

If you love Dion or don't know him...get this CD! It is a jewel...every song! - I highly recommend Dion's 3 CD box set for your collection! - MzRizz

This album is great and what this girl has to say is either very funny, very real, or both. I NEVER listen to the same CD on repeat, but I did all the first day I got this CD. She's kinda Fiona Apple-ish in my mind, but sillier. Totally good CD from a not-super-star.

    Finally, after more than a decade of putting up with his temper tantrums that would make Elton John blush, garcia makes an album that actually feature songs, not Casio pharts. Either his previous albums' falling sales numbers, or his inability to hold the public's attention without resorting to ridiculous publcity stunts (dating a 17 year old - he's 50+, or jumping 9 floors to a pool), have pushed him to make a somewhat decent album. This one, although far from his peak or creativity, is still a welcome addition to one's garcia collection. A CD one would not be embarrassed to have someone else find. 3.5 stars

    He estado viendo comentarios de este disco en varias partes y con alguna excepcion, abundan las dudas. Pero todos reconocen alguna cancion como magnifica. Lo mas interesante es que no hay consenso. Entonces sumando opiniones, el asunto se ve bien pero con muchos lados, como un cubismo sonoro.

    Es decir, un disco polemico. Para mi un disco genial. Cojonudo, demente, rabioso y lúcido. Charly tiene demasiada lucidez. Para mi las 3 primeras canciones (Dileando, Rehén y Asesíname) y Tango son soberbias en todos los sentidos posibles del adjetivo.

    Hoy entendemos mejor "La hija de la lágrima" o "Say No More". Charly ha estado desarollando un lengauaje verbal y musical propio, casi su propio mundo si no fuera porque ese mundo en su cabeza se esta convirtiendo en nuestro mundo. Charly esta demasiado conectado y si parece loco no es para menos.

    Entonces sí, arrogante, rabioso, canibalizándose a sí mismo. Es decir un disco de verdad: Entonces vamos, pégame como un hombre o cógeme como una gran mujer. Así es Charly para disgusto de muchos pero para mayor gloria del arte. Para los demas queda la rubiecilla del momento.

    Charly does it again. He's back and he's holding the crown strongly with both hands.

    This album is a mix of styles:

    * Say No More style mixing three songs into a big one(Dileando con un Alma, Rehen, Asesiname)
