Los Karachi have a Very Special Quality to their Sound, a Tremendous Energy in their Stage Presence and a Contemporary and Unique Sound for the Cuban and Caribbean Rhythms that They Interpret. The Band Originally was Known as Los Zafiros, Cuba's Answer to the Platters. Their Popularity Waned as a Result of Internal Strife and after their American-style Music Became Out of Synch with the New Era Wrought by Political Changes on the Island in the Mid 60's. Reformed in 1976, They Adopt the Son, the Son Montuno, Cha-cha-cha, Bolero, Mambo and Caribbean Rhythms Into their Repertoire. After Substituting their Trumpets for Trombones in 1981, They Once Again Attain a Prominent Place in the Cuban Musical Scene.
