Very Good.......2007-02-20

I like Placido Domingo very much, and the songs of Agustin Lara sung by Mr. Domingo are great, as also the other songs by M. Teresa Lara, Jorge Casas and Julio Hernandez. I really like this album and have it in my car to listen to it over and over again while driving long distances. I think this was a good purchase and highly recommend it.

Agustin Lara made bright and new, without overdone orchestration. Many songs are from the Suite Espanola, and all are beloved by lovers of the Lara bolero, an emotional journey not to be missed. A new sound for a few, that were known in Mexico as performed by Alejandro Algara, a less known lyric tenor. Very bright, and with less slips in the mix than the A. Lara, Suite Espanola CD by Mr. Domingo, titled Bajo El Cielo Espanol, also a great offering by this dramatic performer. This is really another Domingo that is needed by any fan...Singing his own love of Spanish songs in songs by one of the great historical song writers....A Winner, in my opinion!

A wonderful CD, a hidden treasure, by an artist who has suffered for being born in the Age of Pavarotti. Nobody does this kind of music better than Domingo - you will be transported.

Gardel voice is brought to life in this recordings thanks to nimbus records superb technology, music played by gardel guitarrist sound clear and more detailed than previous compilations.

This album as well as Vol.1 is a must for every Gardel lover or music enthusiast, you won't regret this album if yopu are an early opera singer lover.

Gardel is a natural baritone with perfect intonation, musicality and sense for drama and passion, you will be impress even if you don't speak spanish.

Yolanda and Enrique offer us this true Latin American musical embrace. Although I knew of Enrique Coria's masterful guitar style, this lyrical duo with Yolanda Aranda really exceeded everything I expected. The trained voice of Yolanda takes us through zambas and huapangos with passion and subtleties. My favorite tunes are La Malagüeña (where Yolanda shows the real pitch of her voice) and La Canción Mixteca. Chava Flores' Mi México de Ayer is also really moving. In La Pucha con el Hombre (a great escondido in the tradition of Los Carabajal), Yolanda may not compete with my paisana Mercedes Sosa, yet her voice really shines. In summary, this is one of the best Latin American musical partnerships I heard in the last years: an homage to the everlasting Latin American musical tradition.

I knew nothing about Mexican music before I bought this CD. When I heard a selection on the radio, I knew I had to have it.

I don't know if I've learned anything about Mexican music now, but I do know that this CD is one of the most delightful I have in my collection. The playing is beautiful, the music sweet; it makes you want to get up and waltz around the room. I have never grown tired of listening to it.

a good Mexican waltz perspective.......2003-06-20

The waltz is part of Mexico's musical tradition. This cd is a nice perspective of Mexico's most known waltzes. Including in the cd are works by the waltz master Juventino Rosas.Rosas' Sobre Las Olas won international recognition to the point that Europeans refused to believe it was his piece; they thought it was Strauss who composed it. Other popular works include Carmen, Cuando Escuches Este Vals, Alejandra, and Dios nunca Muere; all very popular,daedal and well known waltzes. The latter mentioned pieces have been song by mariachi singers such as Javier Solis, Pedro Infante, and Vicente Fernandez. If you were looking for a good waltz cd then get this one. You won't be disappointed.

I really enjoy classical music of all types, from Mozart to Tchaikovsky, but this album is one of a kind and it gives you a feeling that no other classical music album does.

This is the best flute music recording I ever heard of this extraordinary french composer.His music is so nice and very impressionist and the performers, especially the flutist Jose Lopes,played it in a perfect style and with a beautifull tone.That's it!!!
