How do you market a third-rate band?.......2005-08-21

How do you market a third-rate bar-mitzvah band playing simplistic bubblegum euro-trash with cheesy keyboard generated horns and a drum machine? But wait! Are they not singing in Portuguese, the official language of Brazil, the land of sensuous, infectious, brilliant music by prodigies like Jobim, Buarque, Veloso, Gilberto, Nascimento, Lins? Call the band the name of a chic en vogue party town in Brazil and call the CD "Brazil Is for Lovers." And if that does not work, re-release under "Musical Tour of Brazil." Am I being too harsh?

Hello, this is a review for the CD "Porto Seguro's Musical Tour Of Brazil" which is not a live album as indicated in the listing. It is, however, exactly the same CD as "Brazil Is For Lovers" by the same group, which was the title given to the re-release. If you are looking for some cool Sergio Mendes-type music, this ain't it....and it's not exactly carnival in Rio either, but what it is, is pleasantly goofy disco-style music with vocalists singing in the language of Brazil. Put this CD on as fun background music for any activity, or play at a tropical-themed party....My birdies give it 4 out of 5 stars, and I bet you'll like it too! The sounds are fresh and fun. Full of life. Great to listen to with friends on a warm evening with lots of candles and a pitcher of Sangria!!

Filo did it again wiht this excellent recording; the compositions are fresh, the technique and scatting are just faboulous.
The best cuts in the album are:O Sonho / Maracangalha / Amar a Maria, Novo Testamento etc.
O Sonho is another perfect and superb example of what Brazilian Jazz has to offer; if you like Filo, you won't be disappointed with this effort; if you don't know Filo get this one and "Cantando Um Samba"; you'll love them.
