Great CD!!.......2006-05-11

I love everything about Brazil; the music of that country really touches me. I knew about Luiza because I heard one of her songs in a Brazilian soap opera (Mulheres Apaixonadas) and I love it, then I decided to do a little research about her career, her albums and I loved her songs so I decided to buy it and I'm really happy I did it. Eu soy assim is a wonderful CD!

The whole CD is great! "Na musica/Dicitencello vuie" and "Caruso" have particularly beautiful melodies, and are sung by Zizi in a very emotionally expressive way!

Excellent survey of great Italian songs.......2004-07-25

Brazil has an astounding number of immigrants from Italy, including members of Zizi's family. As a tribute to them and their musical culture, the wonderful Brazilian singer has put together some very melodic songs that share a sense of saudade typical of Brazilian music. The arrangements are restrained and put the the accent wholly on the great songs and Zizi's great interpretations. It's a romantic album and one I've played numerous times.

Zizzi Bossa Nova is your THING!.......2004-07-03

Singing in Italian language or Napolitan Dialect is not your thing woman. Singing in those two languages you sound more like Amalia Rodrigures (the Portuguese Diva) singing her old melodic FADOS. The difference is that Amalia does good work singing FADO and she does it with her soul, because Portuguese is her language and FADO was her life. Come on Zizzi, Italian or Napolitan are not your first languages and Portuguese is. So do what you do the best: Singing Bossa Nova and do it in your first language that is PORTUGUESE. I love you in Portuguese but I detest your voice and accent in Italian or Napolitan. Like said before you sound more like Amalia Rodrigues singing old FADOS when you sing in Italian. I wish I could give ZERO STAR to this CD.

BEAUTIFUL BOSSAS FROM THE BRAZILIAN CHANTEUSE - ZIZI POSSI.......2006-03-05

Five Stars! Zizi Possi is marvelous. A lovely sight in her designer dress and the long gloves, the Brazilian chanteuse, with the deep Italian roots, gives a veritable seminar on the 'real' bossas of contemporary MPB. Not the heavy-handed sped-up US bossa rhythms of the 60's and 70's, these gentle, gravity-defying bossas are a pure joy when sung by the multi-lingual Ms Possi's sensitive soaring soprano voice. She also does those wonderful airy background vocals that add so much color. (And yes, she is the mother of the blonde singing sensation Luiza Possi, a musical force in her own right, who also has a presence here at Amazon.com.)

Singing in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, (and Italian, but not here), her calm soprano has a wonderful way with a song that leaps beyond the need for translation. For instance, she totally steals "Preciso Dizer Que Te Amo"(~I Need To Say I Love You) from Bebel Gilberto (the fabulous daughter of Joao and Miúcha) not once, but in both bookended versions of the song. It may take a couple of passes thru the CD to "get" Zizi Possi, but once you do, she's "got" you forever. And then you'll truly understand the awesome beauty of the gut-wrenching "Yo Tengo Un Pecado Nuevo" (I Have A New Sin), served up on a bed of soaring strings playing a great arrangement. "Ai, Carino", indeed.

Other 'Pieces De Resistance' are a beautiful bossa version of the McCartney/Lennon "Yesterday" sung in flawless, unaccented English. Not buried deep in the CD, but the second song in. Then she switches to flawless Spanish for a fabulous "Sabras Que Te Quiero" (You Will Know That I Love You). She also puts her own mark on a great English version of Sergio Mendes' "So Many Stars", with some killer harmonica work by Adam Glasser. "Caminhos Cruzados" (CrossRoads) is overpoweringly beautiful. Djavan's very hip "Capim" is like 'samba-school' bossa showing off her vocal gymnastics. Five Huge Stars!

Simply singing feelings..........2002-01-02

With "Melodia sentimental" opening this album, Zizi Possi overcame all the expectatives of a beautiful interpretation... with not much more than piano and a beautiful voice. Would say the most beautiful and tuning in Brazil.

What give us the sensation of hearing something that is sacred; something that only give us pleasure, even when she sings about the pain and bitter existing in fall and lost in love. As it is in "Guarda um beijo meu", "Se meu mundo cair", "Explode coração" other "Provei".

Everything sounds so harmonic on this album; what is only trying to tell us, that sometimes the greatest things in life are in so many simple things; that things made with pleasure.

Zizi Possi is definitely the greatest Brazilian female singer lately. She filled the blank after Elis Regina's death. In this album she sings Villa Lobos' Melodia Sentimental so perfectly that amazed me, and alone worth the whole album.
