Unfortunately this is totally inaccurate.... it was the CUBAN singer "FRANCISCO FELLOVE" who lived in Veracruz during the 1950's
who influenced LOBO Y MELONS singing with his BE-BOP style vocals.

Lobo y Melon's claim to fame is having introduced Bebop improvisation to afro-cuban music. In addition, it is by far the best Mexican group in Cuban genres. They definitely blow Sonora Santanera away. If you are a fan of Buena Vista Social Club, & Perez Prado you will not be disapointed by the musicianship & sophistication of Lobo y Melon. Their intricate rhythms & virtuoso contra melodies will win you over!

Oops! At the time I wrote my original review of this great CD, "it was no longer available". Now I'm glad to find its back in stock for all afro-cuban music fans to buy and enjoy. One of the best recorded efforts by the great mexican duo!

Lobo y Melon- "Con Sabor a Tropico".......2000-05-26

This is the best compilation recorded by "Lobo y Melon", during their "post RCA Victor years". Too bad its not available any more. I hope Orfeon re-issues it in the near future. Perhaps adding bonus tracks, if available, would boost its sales.
