The best music from Argentina!!!.......2007-07-08

I like this type of music eventhough I was not born in those years,but my taste for music had being expanded,this music is really good because the singer sings with so much feeling,and you can feel like if you are inside that world,the singer is trying to portrait,is pretty excellent,that's all it is.

OTRA BUENA COMPILACION, PERO INCOMPLETA...........2005-04-19

La seleccion de canciones es representativa y muy buena, no admite mayores discusiones. Están incluidos todos los exitos: "Rosa Rosa", "Las Manos", "Quiero llenarme de ti", "Como lo hice yo", etc. He visto compilaciones de este artista de las mas variadas, pero no puedo entender por qué en ninguna de ellas se cubre el período digamos "rockero" de Sandro, con su conjunto Los de Fuego. En particular, esta compilación arranca con "Melodía Desencadenada", grabada en 1966 si mal no recuerdo. Pero entre 1963 y 1965 Sandro todavía no componía y grababa "covers" de temas famosos de otros artistas (el caso de "Melodía Desencadenada" o "Unchain Melody"); por ejemplo, de temas de Los Beatles podemos encontrar grabadas por Sandro (castellanizadas por supuesto) a "A hard day's night", "We can work it out", "I'll get you", "Can't buy me love", "A world without love", "From a Window" y muchas otras. Otro puñado de canciones que Elvis Presley interpetaba también fueron grabadas por Sandro (quien quería parecerse a Elvis según ha declarado). Por eso digo que se trata de otra buena compilación aunque incompleta por omitir toda esa primera época que si bien no representa ni al mejor ni al más conocido Sandro, resultaría interesante que se incluya algo de este período. Por lo demás, no hay quejas en cuanto a los temas incluidos. Por esa omisión es que le doy "solamente" 4 estrellas a este disco.

Para los latinos,este album recoge las mas bellas melodías de la carrera de este gran artista. El sentimiento que despliega en cada una de las canciones es caractrístico de Sandro. Realmente una joya musical imperecedera.

After listening to SANDRO'S way of enterpreting a melody is hard to keep the tears from falling, his unique stile of beeing able to totally feel and understand the emotions that were felt by the composer reminds me of an old interview I had the privelige of listenig by the "REY DEL BOLERO" TITO RODRIGUES in which he explained that his susscess was based upon the fact that he understood the writers emotions and was able transmit it to the public ..IF GITANO CD AND MOVIE EVER BECOMES AVALABLE PLEASE LET ME KNOW BECAUSE SANDRO IS ALSO A GREAT ACTOR EVEN WHEN THE SCRIPT WAS LAME HE TURNED INTO A GOOD MOVIE. Este disco de Sandro esta fabuloso. Me trajo mucha nostalgia y me recordo mis dias de colegio en Cali, paseando en el carrro por la avenida sexta escuchando a Sandro. Sala lovers beware - if you don't own this album you are missing one of the best live salsa recordings ever! The sound quality is like no other. Soldado y Jibaro soy are my all time favorites. These songs were embedded in me during my childhood and now the masterpiece is on a 2 CD 30 Aniversary set. Saludos mi gente !!!

Solamente lo conozco por su reputacion en mi pais. Cuando me mude a este pais casi lo conocia. Y la gente que sabia de el no le daba el respeto que este pianista se merece. Y con todo y eso que su trompetista murio en este estado que es Connecticut. Siempre me ha gustado su musica y aprendo un mensaje nuevo cada vez que escucho su musica. No hace mucho vi su concierto en una tienda en el centro de compras y lo compre. Que se podia esperar de este aniversario, solamente lo mejor, recuerdos y melancolias.

I was driving around the city of San Francisco listening to Chata Gutierrez as I always do on Saturdays. I was so blown away by the music and by her interview with Ralfi Leavitt that I had to pull the car over so that I wouldn't get into a car accident! THE TUNES KEPT COMING!

One of the best CD's I've ever bought. If you like live albums, you will love this...if you don't like live albums, this one you will cause it's so smooth that you can't tell the difference!

Unlike any other LIVE album I've heard so far, I must say that Raphy Leavitt's 30 Aniversario LIVE is definitely a masterpiece. Sound is crisp and of an outstanding quality. Lots of work has been put into this production.

I first heard Raphael sometime in the late 60's. I was living in St.Croix, US Virgin Islands at the time and left in the spring of 1969. It would have been sometime between 1967 and 1969 that I first heard him sing. I remember the first time listening to his singing as clealy as I do first hearing Joan Baez. They both had a purity and resonance that made me sit back and listen in total awe. I listened to every song I could of both Joan and Raphael but unfortunately any records were lost when I came back to Canada. Over the years, I would think from time to time of his singing but the few feeble attempts I made to obtain an album met with no success. It was only since I started using the Internet that I began making serious efforts to locate some of the old songs that I used to love. I had no luck with Raphael because that's all I knew...Raphael. Imagine my surprise when, yesterday, I accessed Napster and, through their search engine, found him through the one fact I knew...his songs were all in Spanish..Puerto Rican..whatever...as soon as I downloaded Yo Soy Aquel, I knew I had the right one....now through Napster and yourselves, I can order the album of a lifetime..30 Anniversario....thank you and thank Napster.

80's Salsa at it's best.......2005-06-09

This was Tommy Olivencia's most popular album and most commercially successful, This whole CD was a hit, from "Lobo Domesticado" to the Medley at the end. Hector Tricoche proves his worth on this album and then some. Junior "Paquito" Acosta is also great. The funny thing with Paquito Acosta is that he has released 3 solo albums and nobody has ever heard of him.

Tommy's triumphant entry into the salsa romantica world........2004-05-14

The salsa romantica trend had become extremely popular by the time this album was released and the huge hits "Lobo Domesticado", "Lapiz De Carmin" and "No Me Tires La Primera Piedra" were all quite good. Of course, it goes without saying that this album can't compare with Tommy's "Secuestro", "Juntos De Nuevo" and "Plante Bandera" CDs but it's nonetheless a fine example of late-1980s salsa. Lead vocals on this one are by Paquito Acosta and Hector Tricoche.
