A golden rarity.......2005-07-17

Besides "after dark" from 1996 this is Engelbert's best album, in my opinion. I haven't heard them all, but a few. This album is very hard to get, but I managed to buy it from Amazon, used. But it turned out it was new, bt it took a few months.
"Quiereme Mucho" has a latin sound to it, and is produced by Bebu Silvetti, an extraordinary talent. Engelbert sounds better than ever on this album. It is a gem. It is somewhat different from must Humperdinck-albums which makes it even more fun to have.
"Angeles" is a very rythmic and latin-inspired song which makes you wanna dance. Nice sound. "Yours" is great, and he does an excellent interpretation of "Mona Lisa". The duet (forgot the title) is the albums best song.
In addition the photos included are very good and also fun! Great CD-cover and inlet. Recommendations from Scandinavia.

Excellent and Different.......2005-04-02

I think I own just about all of Engelbert's albums. Most are on CD and some go back to vynil. I love them all but there is a lot of repetition. This one is different. These are not the songs that made him famous but they are excellent even so. This album was well worth the wait.

Glorious Engelbert.......2004-05-15

I have every CD of Engelbert's and I was finally able to buy this one. Believe me if you love Engelbert you will want this in your collection. It has become my very favorite because his voice is so perfect for spanish songs. Every song is beautiful and show cases his glorious voice so perfectly. I just can't get enough of this one.

One of his best albums!.......2003-09-05

I'll never forget seeing Englebert Humperdinck in concert in Santa Fe Springs, Ca. It was held at an outdoor venue and his smile lit up the night like you wouldn't believe. I knew I had to run out and buy this CD that he was promoting because the songs and music were so well done. Everytime I listen to it the one song that makes me melt is this particular rendition of "You'll Never Know" because I feel like he is singing it to me personally. I would highly recommend this CD to any fan of his
but unfortunately it's out of stock everywhere I go. I was hoping to buy it for a co-worker of mine because she got to listen to my copy and loves the spanish versions of three of the songs he also does in english. One can only hope.

A great find in Alicante........2004-09-25

December 2003, I was in Alicante, Spain and I saw a variety show and Manuel was on the show and he sang Quiereme. It had a nice melody even though I do not speak Spanish very well. The next day I went to a department store to look for the CD even though I could not remember his name. I kept looking and looking for his picture on the CD cover. I finally found it and bought it. I did not get to hear it until I got back to Indiana. This is a really good CD. I have not regretted my purchase. If I could understand Spanish well enough to understand all of the lyrics it would be an even better experience.

I recently saw Lucero in concert, on TV, for the first time and couldn't get this cd soon enough. I had never heard of her before.I am taken back with how versatile her voice is : incredibly sweet, smooth, yet strong and just makes me melt when I hear it. I find myself listening to it way too much. Great job Lucero!!!!

A great CD with a more mature and elegant Lucero. Her first single LA UNICA QUE TE ENTIENDE, is a welcome change compared to her early 90's pop. Lucero has grown up and presented us with a carefully crafted gem. A wonderful and beautiful CD that will grow on you. Listen to it a few times and enjoy the evolution of this very talented singer.

This cd has covers and some Lucero's old hits.someone told in other review that Paulina Rubio doesn"t have the 1/4 the voice that Lucero has, but the difference is, Paulina Rubio takes the risk to record different music .On the other hand.Lucero prefered to record her old songs, what a drag!!!!!c'mon. Lucero you can give your opinion in your productions.

But. It is always a pleasure to hear her voice.

Jazz is not only about improvisation. It's also about idiomatic transformation, the ability to transform the musical and cultural identity of a song. For over five decades, pianist/composer Steve Kuhn has reigned supreme as one of the Music's most open-eared and imaginative musicians. On his new CD, Quireme Mucho, the follow-up to his 2003 Sunnyside release Love Walked In, Kuhn - along with drummer Al Foster and bassist David Finck -- changes the sonic and syncopated citizenship of six classic Latin American compositions by Ernesto Lecuona, Miguel Prado, Osvaldo Farres, Gonzalo Roig, and Consuelo Velazques, into swinging, modern jazz. As everyone knows, Latin rhythms have always been involved in jazz, ever since Jelly Roll Morton talked about the importance of the "Spanish Tinge" in the early Twentieth Century. Kuhn's propulsive, yet poetic pianisms, buoyed by Foster's thick and elastic drum licks and Finck's rocksteady basslines, except for the pretty, bolero take on Roig's title selection, extend, elaborate, and refine the South-of-the-Border signatures of these splendid songs, not with tired, "Latin jazz" phrases, but with inspired neo-bop intelligence. Lecuona's "Andalucia," and "Siempre En Mi Corazon," dance with an uptempo, Art Blakey/Jazz Messenger! bounce. Prado's "Duerme," Farres's "Tres Palabras," and Velazques's much loved "Besame Mucho" are also treated with rhythmically riveting and melodically romantic readings.

A delightful experience..........2005-01-26

No matter how many times these songs have been reinterpreted before or how the original versions sounded, Domingo's versions show his warm, educated and elegant voice all over. The arrangments are top notch too. Overall an excellent album giving these unforgettable songs a royal and magnificent value. These is not just another compilation of songs covers, these is how these songs should sound if the originals didn't existed and wanted to remain forever as the classics they already are. Highly recommended. Bravo Domingo!

Ive never really tried to translate the words that are on the cds of Mr Domingo but they do come across and unlike por amor which is a pure classic you can kick back and relax with this one In fact both cds are better than songs of love, and dami alma latina two other cds i own.In short Domingo is up there with Mario lanza when it comes to heating things up (if you know what i mean).Hes proabably even better
