This seminal album is the apotheosis of musical art, especially when it comes to Latin (en español) dance music, and it changed me forever. God bless you, my amazing friend and mentor Willie Colón. I agree with the other reviewer (from Texas) here who awarded this five stars--and there aren't ten other popular music albums I can think of that deserve five stars. I would suggest checking out everything he ever did, for not only can the man sing well, he is absolutely awesome on the trombone.

There is only one Willy Colón--he's one of a kind, like Johnny Pacheco Pérez Prado, or Celia Cruz. Let's enjoy him while he's still around. I wish he'll live to 100, but even Tito Puente didn't make it to 90. As I write this 2005, Willy is

Baquine De Angelitos Negros.......2002-06-27

Probably one the most creative/progressive projects Willie has ever recorded. This production has one of the best selection of "A" players a recording can have. The music is out of this world. Joy and Pain... Painstaking detail put into it. A true musical delight! My favorite of his productions. To Willie: "Thank you for giving us so much of yourself."
