The notion that rock must perpetually break new ground and reinvent itself is the odious legacy of 10 too many years of rock-crit navel gazing, and one that young Australian power trio Wolfmother stands gleefully on its head with their effusive debut. Hardly surprising to find a new generation's reaction to a decade of shoe-gazing alternative rock angst to be a return to the guilty pleasures of unabashed, blues-based stadium rock--even if they seem unsure whether they're channeling the early Zep scream 'n' sludge frenzy of the single "Woman" or adopting The White Stripes' stripped-down ethos on "Apple Tree" and elsewhere. They bravely mix suspect '70s lyrical thematics ("White Unicorn," "Where Eagles Have Been," "Tales") with usual suspects like Sabbath ("Dimension"), stir in the neo-prog of "Colossal," "Witchcraft," and "Tales," (the latter complete with Tull-savvy flute break), then toast Soundgarden and Queens of the Stone Age on "Mind's Eye" and elsewhere. Their frightfully funk-challenged "Love Train" gets promptly derailed, making one yearn for a hit of Eagles of Death Metal for relief, but its wreckage only proves how far Wolfmother is willing to push the envelope in forging their often intoxicating evocation of the past as future. --Jerry McCulley

5 out of 5 stars Clean, Original, Hard Rock, Deep Poetry.......2007-07-15

First, and most important, this is music I can listen to with my kids around. Someone remembered how to make great music without swearing.

Everyone has their opinion about Wolfmother influences: White Stripes, Zeppelin, Hendrix, etc... I think that it has been so long that a band this original came out that people assume they must be ripping off the last bands to play original music.

Wolfmother stands alone, and they rock hard! This is music that will get you pumped, get you singing, banging your head, and ready to conquer the world. CHeck them out on Youtube, they are even better live, but this album is a daily listen for me.

4 out of 5 stars Lot's of influences in this, but one stands out the most to me............2007-07-11

...and that would be T.Rex. I hear all the other influences and like them, but no one is making this comparison. Maybe I'm daft. It's Marc Bolan with heavier guitar sound, the lyrics are still "out there" and not so much "Glam" which is a good thing. The vocals are early Oz, Plant, Bolan......mostly Bolan. I like it.

5 out of 5 stars Straight Forward Rock.......2007-07-10

This CD is the best CD that I have purchased in a long time. It is a nice return to straight forward rock without any gimmicks or passing fads. The songs are very raw without too much production or special effects. There is an energy to the music that reminds me of The Who or Zepplin. When listening to the CD in the car, it was described by my passenger as hot.

2 out of 5 stars no title.......2007-07-09

The awkward, unattractive scream at the beginning of Dimension sums up the quality of this CD.
There may be a few good moments on the disc, but I agree with the dissenting reviews in that this album does injustice to many well-respected, pioneering acts and is not up to par with other music in this genre.

If Mother gets stuck in your head, buy that song from iTunes and resist the temptation to buy the whole album.

4 out of 5 stars Led Zeppelin returns?.......2007-07-03

I love classic rock, and was highly impressed when I heard these guys. They remind me of Led Zeppelin. Now, I know no one can be Led Zeppelin, but these guys are pretty good for these modern times.

1 out of 5 stars This is terrible.......2007-07-19

This Alan Mills is awful. He can't even pronounce "mistress", which he sings as "misteress". The lyrics are banal to the point that they might have been generated by one of those lyric generator things. The only classic is "Dark Side of Me", which is searing and great. Sorry, that's a lie. It's rubbish, too. Don't give up the day job, Al.

5 out of 5 stars Great Mileage from Myles.......2007-07-19

This is a great female rock album. Alanah delivers rock on this album that is definitely hard at times, but never turns into just loud noise. Quite the contrary, the album is full of good rock tunes. Alanah's voice is powerful and with the right attitude. The album starts out strong, rocking with Still Got This Thing, Love Is, and Black Velvet. Rock This Joint is a bit commonplace. Lover of Mine shows Alanah can do a softer, slower tune. The album gets hard again with Kick Start My Heart and If You Want To. Some mellower tunes close the album. Excellent stuff. Where's Alanah now?

4 out of 5 stars strong album, with a few weaker songs.......2007-05-19

Long time ago, I used to own the cassette. Now I bought the cd, because I still love this music. I especially like "black velvet", "who loves you" and "hurry make love" on this album. In "who loves you" I like the switches from ballad to rock song and back. "hurry make love" is raw, just a guitar and vocal, which makes it very strong. There are three songs on this album that (in my humble opinion) could have been left out: "rock this joint", "kick start my heart" and "if you want to". Altogether, this album was strong enough for me, to re buy it after so many years. Partly because of nostalgia, and partly because there are great songs on it.

5 out of 5 stars Allana Myles.......2007-01-05

Sung by an excellent blues singer. Allana has an authenticity to her voice that makes her a true blues singer. I especially enjoy the classic "Black Velvet" which is the reason I purchased the CD.

5 out of 5 stars Raaaaaw female power rock. She still got "this thing".......2006-08-14

Allanah Myles debut from 1989,is the real thing when it come`s to raaaaw female power rock, with light touches of heavy metal and blues riffs here and there. Oh yes, this is riffy and raffy in a very positive sense. In other words quality shines from beginning to end . Track 1 Still got this thing, With it`s fuzzy guitar riffs in the background, the song sets immediate the quality standard . She has an unpolished voice which fits this kind of music. It`s compact and quite stylish. She roars like a rock scream queen, but never ever a false note. Track 2 Love is, is more into "funky" land, but with a bumble bass in the background , the heavy metal touches is still intact. Track 3 Black Vevet is the best of the best. It was a great hit song back then, and still hits the mark. The bumble bass and the ready steady drum beat in the background still has the power to make the day for the one who looks for a great time. It`s very well driven, and moves you all over. Trembling good rock and roll. Track 4 Rock this joint, is more into funky territory
of the Myles`es musical landscape, but certainly has the power to move you soul into happiness. Track 5 Lover of mine, is the first ballad on the album, that shows a more "soft singing" voice of Alannha that fits the song perfect. Track 6 Kick start my heart is more back to heavy metal land, with touches of the
synth soundpicture from the 80 ths. Track 7 If you want to , has even more touches from the 80 ths. The mood is light and positive. Track 8 Just one Kiss, has also synth at the refrain, but the rest is more into light heavy metal landscape. Sounds ok,but nothing extraordinary. Track 9 Who loves you is the second ballad, and shows a more softspoken and atmospheric side of Myles, until the refrain, when Myles is back in to roaring action once again. Track 10 Hurry make love, is a clever little blues acoustic gem, that makes it. Yees Allanha Myles still got this thing after all this years.

5 out of 5 stars In a League of Her Own.......2004-12-13

Last night I had the rare priveledge of seeing Alannah Myles Live as she brought her successful European Acoustic Club tour home to Toronto. And WOW!!!
Let there be no doubt that this woman is a STAR! In every sense of the word. She virtually radiates confidence, sexuality, and charisma.

As a Rock Vocalist, Alannah Myles is in a league of her own. There were no "Backing tracks" or "powerhouse backup Singers". It was just Alannah and she was FLAWLESS. On every song this woman demonstrated exactly why the Industry honored her with a Grammy for Best Rock Vocalist (she won out over heavyweights Melissa Etheridge, Tina Turner, and Janet Jackson) .

She opened her set with a Cover of Neil Young's "After the Goldrush" and seguewayed into her own "Honesty" from her last studio CD 1997's "Arival". Highlights were her Marlene Dietrich inspired "Dance of Love" and of course, "Black Velvet".

Her acting background and flair for theatrics really shone through in the show. When performing her Canadian #1 "Lover of Mine" she really played the part, complete with tears streaming down her face. One could only wonder whether she was thinking of Robert Plant (her former lover, whom she later mentioned) as she sang. During the second half of the show, the lights were turned way down low and she made her way from the back of the club under a veil, her path lit by a large candle which she was carrying. This as the opening chords of "Song Instead of a Kiss" were played.

Alannah also debuted a New Track from her forthcoming "85bpm" CD. Watch for the Lead Single "Comment Ca Va" to hit in 2005.

3 out of 5 stars Some Essential Gems Missing.......2004-07-01

The songs listed on this "Very Best Of" CD is a good start, but it does a disservice in trying to summarize the talents of one of the best rock/blues vocalists of this generation. This album is a good start for anyone trying to break away from the faint of heart Top 40 crowd. I would recommend getting the individual albums in addition to this selection to truly round out your overall music collection.

If pressed for my choice of Alannah Myles' essential titles for a Best OF collection, here are my picks.
From 'Allanah Myles'--Black Velvet (of course!!), Love Is, Still Got This Thing, and Lover of Mine.
From 'Rockinghorse'--Tumbleweed (exxccellent road trip song!), The Last Time I Saw William, Love in the Big Town, and Rockinghorse.
From 'Allannah'--Keeper of My Heart (Gonna play that at my wedding reception), Blow Wind Blow, and Irish Rain.
From 'Arival'--Bad 4 You, What Am I Gonna Do With You?, and one of the best unrequited love songs ever-Yellow Rose.

I was hooked the second I first heard 'Black Velvet' on the radio lo these may years ago. The quality of her work deserves, and I say demands, more airplay than just 'Black Velvet'. I genuinely hope more great music is made by a truly talented woman.

4 out of 5 stars Why do stars like her fall?.......2002-12-12

Alannah Myles is the woman who gave us one of the most wonderful bluesrockers/powerballads of all time, "Black Velvet". Yup, this is the song she is famous for. But what a shame! She got more music worth listening too, and thats why this greatest hits cd was released.

***NOTE***
Either this release on Amazon is an old one, Amazon made a mistake or I got a special version, because this version only have 12 songs, while the one I own have 15 songs. Its the same cover, same name, its the same cd, but different versions. Could be different releases in US and Europe.
The songs lacking on this release is: "Great Divide", "What are we waiting for" and "You love who you love". I`ll mark them with a (*).

I choose to review the version I got, since it contains all the songs on this, plus the 3 above.
***NOTE END***

It was no surprise that "Black Velvet" is numero uno on the record, but hey, its her best!
Two medicore songs follow, "Breaking the Silence" and the directly bad "Everybody`s breaking up".
"Love is" is a catchy song which sounds both fresh and rocky. Great!
Then one of the sweet ballads comes, "Song instead of a Kiss", this is one of her best ballads, and you will be surprised of what you missed when you hear this. I dont know what to compare it too, it sounds so typical her, yet alike someone else. Wonderful song....which makes way to an even better song,
"Sonny Say you will" This could have been a Cher song, and it does really have that haunting feeling, a wonderful beat, just crank up the volume and float on the bass.
"Our World Our time" is a fast, upbeat and moody rocker. I love the chorus, perfect driving music.
"Long, Long time" is a sweet ballad, is sounds sad. The unusal use of drums makes it seem strange, but it is neverthless pretty good.
"Great Divide"(*) An Accustic song, the blues shines thru here. A less good song, nothing to be sad if you missed.
"Family Secret" It sounds like Tina Turner style! R&B combined with an unusual text.
"Lover of Mine" Ah the ballad of all times. Alannah`s best ballad, often used on Power Ballad collections if "Black Velvet" is already used. This had all the thing it needed to be a smash-hit. The melody is dead on, the chorus is wonderful and the text is beautiful. Love it.
"Bad 4 you" This song is so sweet, its impossible not to love it! Co-written with one of my favoriteproducers, Desmond Child, its the second best song on the record after "Black Velvet". Catchy, accustic feel, with a sing along chorus.
"What are we waiting for"(*) A Duet with a male singer, although I havent found his name. The song is pretty good!
"You love who you love"(*) A relaxed song, its hard to say anything special about it. There is nothing wrong with it, but there is nothing special either.
"Still got this Thing" The last song on the album. It had the potential of being great, and it isnt that bad. A decent rocker where Alannah has great voice.

Although she doesnt have any other major hits than Black Velvet, this compilation clearly shows that she deserves more radioplay. Bad 4 you, Lover of Mine and Sonny Say you will should make quite a few more fans of her, as they are really great songs. Otherwise this cd does only contain one really bad song, and that`s "Everybody`s breaking Up". It just doesnt fit. But look past it, and love Alannah Myles. Maybe one day she will return. Lets pray for her, and keep asking ourselves, Why do stars like her....fall?

4 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2001-10-16

A critics' darling before alt-country existed, Heather Myles released her debut album in 1992, and in the 10 years since, she's cemented her place as the West Coast's distaff Dwight Yoakam, down to the posed photos and ripped jeans. She records with his sidemen and, on this album, duets with the man himself. Her talents, however, stand on their own. The catch in her throaty voice, as subtle as a neon sign, infuses each number (all but two here are originals) with passion and immediacy, be it a glib throwaway like "Big Cars" or the acerbic "Nashville's Gone Hollywood." Myles, always framed by rock-ribbed twang, avoids pretense, yet "The Love You Left Behind" deftly exposes her softer, more nuanced side. Her inspired covers of Glen Campbell's hit "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" and Julie London's 1950s torch song "Cry Me a River" only underscore her passion for excellence. Sadly, she has yet to find a broader audience and this, her finest effort to date, only drives home that injustice. --Rich Kienzle

5 out of 5 stars The best female country singer there is.......2006-10-12

Heather Myles is the best female country singer in the business, although the unheralded Amber Digby and the seemingly vanished Danni Leigh are just about her equals. Heather is the real thing--there is no hint here of the pop crap that characterizes just about every other woman who claims to sing country. She's like a female Dwight Yoakam (with whom she sings a duet on this CD). And this CD is her masterpiece. It's been too long since her last release.

5 out of 5 stars Nothing short of perfection............2006-03-13

Another fine Heather Myles album. Where would country music be today without the likes of Heather Myles? This is a 13 song CD that is hardcore country from start to finish; all blessed with the finest modern female voice in Country Music. Included is her tribute to the Nashville crap being sold today under the guise of country music, "Nashville's Gone Hollywood". There's also the Dwight Yoakam duet on "Little Chapel", and a fine rendition of Glen Campbell's "By the Time I Get to Phoenix"....actually, I'd put Heather's version well above the original. This album has the usual recipe of Heather's straight forward, no apologies, music, and is best seen in: "Homewrecker Blues", and "Sweet Little Dangerous". I have no doubt that Heather Myles would enjoy the acceptance and promotional backing of mainstream Nashville, but I'm thankful she's staying the course. It's almost impossible to find music like this anymore. A+

5 out of 5 stars Heather Myles boots do the walkin' .......2004-12-24

At some point in their lives music fans come to a realization that there are only two kinds of music: good music and bad music. When this epiphany strikes vast catalogues and hidden genres open. In the mid-80's, with the seemingly simultaneous debut releases by Dwight Yoakum, Randy Travis and Steve Earle, I began to discover country music.

Before we get too carried away I feel the need to distance "good" country music from the pig-noise feeding the death knell of today's country radio music. In the remarkable but unheard category of great country artists are Kim Richey and Heather Myles.

While her third (though first nationally distributed) album, Highways & Honky Tonks, was stunning, 'Sweet Talk and Good Lies' by Heather Myles (2000) is destine to become a classic country album: a defining moment in the course of country music's future.

Duets with Merle Haggard and Dwight Yoakum stamp "approved" on Myle's. Her covers of "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," "Cry Me a River," and "Chapel of Love" allow first time listeners easy access to Myles recordings, but it is her own songs that exemplify how significant this relative unknown will be. As is required of any pertinent female country music singer, Myles is easy on the eyes but this time it's her music that draws you in and keeps you reaching for her music.

Rolling Stone writer Chet Flippo wrote, "Myles has more brass than a hardware store." Myles is a musical force that will continue to attract attention and move the course of country music.

4 out of 5 stars A refreshing change - some real country at last!.......2004-07-12

Finally, after the onslaught of pop in country clothing, something that is actually what it claims to be. Being based in the UK, we don't get to hear much "hardcore" country, and I only by chance heard the title track of this album on a specialist satellite radio station. Amazingly I saw it in a branch of HMV whilst on my travels and bought it on the strength of that song.

I wasn't disappointed, and even shouted "Hear hear!" on hearing the second track "Nashville's Gone Hollywood" - much to the amusement of my future mother-in-law in the passenger's seat (it had its first playing in the car)!

Weak points? Well, I always hated "By The Time I Get To Phoenix", and this hasn't changed (it's the song, not the singer though). And "Cry Me A River"... not really my thing either (although I'd rather listen to this than Justin Timberlake's namesake track any day!).

Only 4 stars? Well on the whole the album is rather heavy going - if you want something a bit easier try "Highways & Honky-Tonks", but I don't regret buying this (or even paying UK prices for it).

5 out of 5 stars 'Big Cars' Big Song!.......2004-03-14

Another outstanding album by an obviously under-appreciated stellar talent. (Her long trips overseas certainly don't allow her time to make an impact in the US--but I guess it keeps her in guitar strings!) Heather's "Big Cars" is arguably one of the Greatest 100 Country Songs of All Times, and it is infuriating that she's not heard much more across country-land.
Heather: Shmooze it up with established names and start doing more touring along with them in these United States. (I just saw Martina McBride with Alan Jackson, and with all due respect, Martina isn't up to your musicality and versatility and would have certainly enjoyed your singing far more than her screaming.)

Just when it feels like the end days of hard, imaginative country music are upon us, a release such as this appears and dashes despair. With her first outing for Rounder, Myles has made one of 1998's finest--setting her own standard for country music at millennium's end, writing every song save two classics, and singing all hell out of every line. There's nothing slight, nothing wasted in these 12 songs; the original material is unfailingly strong and effortlessly inventive. Her band--featuring Bob Gothar, Pete Anderson, Marty Rifkin, Gary Brandin, and a propulsive rhythm section--marshals various styles and colors. Shades of progressive bluegrass and Tex-Mex emerge, as well as echoes of Buddy Holly's sound, resulting in taut country rock that nods as often to the Byrds and the Burrito Brothers as to Myles's formative Bakersfield background. --Roy Francis Kasten

Thank goodness there are still real country singers now and then.

Heather Myles, along with Amber Digby, Miss Leslie, and Becky Hobbs, is one of the few real country female singers. This isn't Faith or Shania or any of the other imposters; this is old-fashioned, 100-proof, honky tonk country. This is a great CD, and amazingly, it's her second best; as wonderful as this music is, "Sweet Talk and Good Lies" is even better.

I absolutely abhor new "country music"; it lacks any soul, has forgotten its roots, and is completely disposable. And, the problem is not just with the producers and Nashville, as the majority of the performers lack talent as well. But once in awhile, someone comes along to breathe a little life into modern country music. Heather Myles is one of the very few bright spots in today's country scene, and you owe it to yourself to listen to this Cd. Heather has a voice that combines the unabashed sincerity of Loretta Lynn with the vocal stylings of Donna Fargo; throw in a big dose of real Bakersfield Sound, and you have Heather Myles. This CD contains 12 numbers, and every single song is heads above anything you'll hear on today's "country" radio. There are two really fine singles here that deserve the highest praise: "No One is Gonna Love You Better" is a superb duet with none other than Merle Haggard, and "Playing Every Honk Tonk in Town". I will go as far to say that Heather Myles should be placed in the list of the Top 5 female singers to arrive on the country scene in the past 30 years. And after you listen to this album, you'll realize that list doesn't include Shania or Faith. A+++++++

3 out of 5 stars She's good,but................2005-09-10

With all the five star reviews,it looks like the entire extended family chimed in,so! I ain't gonna say anything derogatory just in case you all come lookin' for me,if you get my drift ? I think this lady has enormous talent, and given the time she will be one of the greats. She still has a way to go,and I believe she will wind up with a huge name in the business.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent traditional country, California style.......2005-01-12

Heather, one of many great country singers from California, is a passionate, soulful singer-songwriter who sticks (at least on this album) to a solid, traditional country sound albeit with other influences. Those influences, limited as they are, are from rockabilly and R+B rather than mainstream pop. Heather wrote ten of the twelve songs here, the exceptions being the covers of Kiss an angel good morning (Charley Pride) and I'll be there if you ever want me (Ray Price) - the latter song was also a major country hit for Gail Davies in the eighties.

Heather's own songs are outstanding, including You're gonna love me one day (about a man who doesn't love her - yet), No one is gonna love you better (a duet with Merle Haggard), Mr Lonesome (about a man who isn't very good company) and Who did you call darling (about an unfaithful man).

Pete Anderson, Dwight Yoakam's producer, plays lead guitar on this album, which certainly should appeal to most of Dwight's fans although the music here has less of a rock influence than most of Dwight's albums. As such, this will appeal to those die-hard traditionalists who feel that Dwight is not for them.

Album Description

Heather Myles' powerful vocals and clever songwriting-married with her love of the West Coast Bakersfield sound and traditional roots convention-recalls classic female country singers like Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and Tammy Wynette. She proved with her debut album, Just Like Old Times, to be at the forefront of the alt-country scene that later blossomed into the Americana genre. In the past decade and today, Myles continues to carry the torch for traditional country artistry, having worked with such greats as Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakam, Waylon Jennings, and Charlie Daniels.

5 out of 5 stars West Coast honkytonk was alive and well... in the 1990s.......2005-01-30

Of the recent spate of best-of collections coming out on the HighTone label, few could be more welcome than this set looking back at the early work of West Coast honkytonker Heather Myles. A California native heavily under the spell of Buck and Merle, Myles hit the SoCal country scene in the wake of Dwight Yoakam's back-to-basics breakthroughs, and recorded two fine albums for Hightone, 1992's "Just Like Old Times" and "Untamed," in 1995. This disc features a baker's dozen of her best songs, along with a previously unreleased version of "Read You All Wrong," with plenty of good, old-fashioned hard-country shuffles and heartsongs that stand right up there with the best of the old stuff. There's also a bit of her more jangly '60s rock-tinged material, and a brief dip into roadhouse blues, but it's the hard country stuff that makes this disc worth the price of admission. Both of her original albums are also worth tracking down, but this best-of set sure does a good job boiling 'em down into one swell little package, sure to please the old-school country lover in us all.

5 out of 5 stars The title says it all.......2006-11-07

Heather Myles is fanatsic! This CD, her first, is full of true, 100%, real honky tonk music. She is the real thing, not the fake pop music Nashville calls country. Heather ought to be a star.

5 out of 5 stars Now, this is more like it.............2006-02-17

Thank God for Heather Myles. This album will knock your socks off; and if you think country music is Leann Rimes or Shania, you may as well leave right now. There's a dozen great songs here, and all are unapologetically country/hillbilly/honky-tonk music. The first number "Love Lyin' Down" mixes Heather's straight forward vocals with the Dwight Yoakam "What I DOn't Know" guitar riff. That's followed by her tribute to the great Stonewall Jackson with "Why I'm Walking"; I would never have believed a woman could sing Stonewall, but I'm man enough to admit I was wrong. There are a couple of true gems here, including: "Rum and Rodeo", "Lovin the Bottle", and "Stay Out of My Arms". It is an absolute sin that Heather Myles is not heralded by today's radio, but after hearing her voice, you realize that she's in a class all of her own. Let's hope she continues to trun out real country music.

5 out of 5 stars Wish she was on the radio.......2002-04-02

This is great country music and I cant believe she has not been doing concerts or releasing more albums

5 out of 5 stars The best of the best !.......2001-06-06

I discovered Heather some years ago and I think that she is probably one of the best female country singers that has ever lived and furthermore I would rate her album , " Just Like Old Times " , as a whole , the best CD by a country female artist, including Patsy Cline, Loretta, Tammy, Kitty Wells ,and all the rest , as the best compilation of meaningful songs, in one CD , in the history of country music.

5 out of 5 stars Rum & Rodeo should have dominated the charts.......2001-03-16

Heather Myles has an incredible voice and after listening to Rum & Rodeo, you are convinced it must have dominated the charts for weeks way back when. Unfortunately, just like Gary Allen's Smoke Rings in the Dark it didn't, which makes you wonder what really drives the charts (another tirade, for another time). Her music is incredible -- do yourself a favor and get this CD!!

I did not know this singer , and I can say it's one of the best Cds I ever have heard. She combines rock with balads ,her voice is strong but lovely . I absolutely recommend this CD for those who like good rock
I only regret that her career had not been large enough to give us more gifts to our senses.
I love you Alannah ¡

5 out of 5 stars Great Singing, Great Songwriting - A Classic.......2001-04-24

This CD is a showcase for a great singer-songwriter. Many of the songs on this CD are highlights from her two earlier Hightone releases as well as a preview of songs on Highways and Honky Tonks (a future release at the time of the recording). In addition, Heather does cover a few older songs. Not only does Heather have a great Bakersfield sound; her songwriting has the intelligence of a Mary Chapin Carpenter. For someone looking for an introduction to a great performer, this CD serves as a greatest hits primer. Fortunately, there will be many more hits in the future.

5 out of 5 stars proper country music !.......2006-08-10

this is what country music needs, if you dont like Heather Myles then you ought to stay out of the country section. every track is better then the pervious, no matter how often its played. heather has got a lovely voice that makes her music stand out from the rest. get this cd, you wont regret it !

5 out of 5 stars Another Good One.......2006-05-15

Another good album by Heather Myles. This is a 12 track Cd containing some of the finest country music (true country music) recorded in modern times. Noone has a voice like Heather, and in this era of plastic/disposable country music, Heather has no peers. There's not a bad song on the disc, and personal favorites include "Cadillac Cowboy" and "It Aint Over". Great sound, good packaging. A+

5 out of 5 stars One of a kind female country singer.......2000-11-07

This is almost the perfect CD. Heather Myles' strong voice and choice of top notch material does not require the lush production that is currently in vogue among most female country singers. I can't think of another female singer to which she can be prepared. Mandy Barnett's voice may be stonger but she continues to record sub-par songs. UNTAMED is more like listening to a female Alan Jackson CD. The instrumentation and voice inflections in a majority of the songs are close to those found in Jackson's most recent releases. A few of the uptempo swing numbers (Cadillac Cowboy and Gone Too Long) sound like Mark Chesnutt songs and the highlight of the CD (It Ain't Over) could have easily been recorded by Tracy Lawrence. The arangements are very well done and feature guitars instead of the ever present piano - thank you. If you are a fan of country music with just a little twang this CD is for you.

5 out of 5 stars More songwriting and singing genius.......1999-06-04

Once again Heather Myles proves herself beyond the shadow of a doubt. Bravo.
