    Product Description

    Following the success of their debut album "Ordinary Man (Adameh Mamooli)", Kiosk, the Iranian Underground Rock Band returns with their second album to date, again taking aim at superficial and hypocritical trends in society, the ever increasing economic gap, and everything else that is politcally and socially wrong. The lyrics to the title track "Eshghe Sorat (amor de la velocidad)" are a laundry list of oxymorons and paradoxes that have now become the norm of everyday life in Tehran. On the track "Bitarbiat", Kiosk borrows from the great Chet Atkins on "Read My Licks", and substitutes music notes in place of otherwise obvious slang expressions widely used in the Persian language, while at the same time making a powerful statement against biased censorship in the media worldwide. Of particular interest to lovers of Persian Pop culture is the track "Amoo Asdollah", where the lyrics are all based on the dialogue of the timeless Persian literary classic "Daee Jan Napoleon"(My Uncle Napoleon) by Iraj Pezeshkzad.             With the release of their first full-length radio-ready album "Velocidad" (as proved by the international air-play it's received) Planeta De Crystal prove they're ready to take their live performances on a national level, allowing others to enjoy what Chicago and the midwest has danced and sang to recently. The songs are easy-listening, reminiscent of The Police, with PDC's unique latin flavor added to spice things up. Each song is different, allowing for a diverse listening audience. My personal favorite is "Soledad", with it's heavy guitar and unique lyrics. And, for a tiny treat for those old-school rock lovers, check out the last track. All in all, this album defines the newer generation of rock-en-espanol. Excellent!

            This is a valiant effort by independent Spanish rockers out of Chicago, IL Planeta De Crystal.
            Guitar licks and catchy lyrics galore combined with a well produced recording makes this a great purchase for rockeros everywhere. One small step for Planeta De Crystal...one giant leap for Rock en Español.

            I surprisingly enjoyed this CD. You don't have to understand spanish to enjoy this one. It has a nice variety. A few song kinda of reminded me of The POLICE. I recomend the latin rockers check this one out!

            Scottish guitarist David Russell spent much of his childhood in Spain, speaks fluent Spanish, and married a Spaniard. So he brings a deep understanding and affection to the music of late 19th century guitar virtuoso Francisco Tárrega. Add to this his supple phrasing and gorgeous tone--lovingly captured by recording engineer John Taylor, himself a guitarist--and you have a recording that shows off guitar playing at its finest.

            This is one of the best CD's I've purchased in the last five years. Not only are all of his works here on two discs, but there are works that I haven't ever found on any other discs.
            Notably, the Gran Jota variations are found in this set. These variations comprise of almost 11 minutes of one of the greatest guitar compositons you will ever hear!

            It's great that someone finally issued a recording of all of Tarrega's music. You'll find all of it here, the preludes, etudes, tremelo studies, the concert masterpieces and the transcriptions. Also, the only recording where you'll find the beautiful Tango. And, David Russell plays it all so well!
