Product Description
Gypsy Jazz combine Jazz, Latin and Brazilian rythms with beautiful soulful melodies. The music is interpreted by some of today's top musicians, and 6 tracks feature the wonderful guitar of Al Viola. Chris Glik composed most of these songs while on tour in various parts of the world. For instance, Tudo Bem was inspired by the Brazilian people in Sao Paulo and Rio De Janiero. Cold War Blues was written while on tour in Europe before the "Cold War" was over. Soldiers perched in towers with ready machine guns aimed to keep people from crossing the wall inspired this tune. Frostbite was written while on the same tour, but in Belgium, where it was freezing cold in March. Rwanda was inspired by the children of Rwanda crying out against injustice. Visionaire and Re:Nuances were both tunes written at the New Year several years in the nineties. Journey To Ixtlan was inspired by Carlos Castanada's book of the same name. Trane Ride is a musical tribute to John Coltrane. The musicians - Chris met Mike Flick, the bassist, while on tour in Brazil. Some of the tunes feature Mike soloing. Kenny Park, drumset and latin percussion, gives life to each song with his wonderful sense of time and space. George Harper, a saxophone master, weaves wonderful lines masterfully on Soprano and Tenor Saxophones. Dave Victorino is heard on flute and tenor saxophones creating wonderful improvisations. Finally, Al Viola gives his special wonderful interpretations on guitar.
