Bandido is a classic album. As a ballroom dancer that looks for a Samba to grab people onto a floor, there has never been anything like A Caballo except for Ven Devorame Otra Vez and maybe the two songs squeezed in between. If you want to feel what dancing to Latin music does for your heart, listen (and move) to this album. Oye Como Va is a good original version of an otherwise well-worn classic.

How it all began ..........2000-07-16

The two Salazar sisters had released three mediocre albums when they were to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 1990 with one of that year's most spectacular entries: "Bandido", a flamenco-infused house dance track. Bookmakers put thumbs down on this one, but nevertheless it ended #5, with Germany awarding them the maximum 12 points. "Bandido" really made the two sisters' carreer take off, and also ensured them a following of gay fans all over Europe. The subsequent album features a fair share of dance covers of Latin favorites like Santana's "Oye como va / Guajira", "Ven devórame otra vez", and the tango "Cuando el amor se va", but to me, the originals "Mumaíta", "Noche de abril" and "Canalla" are the most interesting tracks. Listening to this album, 10 years after its release, I must admit its production is not impressive, it really hasn't aged that well, and my rate shouldn't be more than 2½ stars, had that been possible. Azúcar Moreno's subsequent albums have been far better so if you are a fan of their most recent works, you'll probably enjoy this CD, especially because of "Bandido", but you're just as well off getting their greatest hits package "Mucho Azúcar".

Viva Ana !!!.......2004-04-24

I absolutely love this cd by Ana Barbara and I give it my highest rating. To be honest, I never really appreciated Latin Music before I heard this one. My local cd store was playing this cd when I was shopping. Even though I didn't understand a word of Spanish, I was impressed by Ana's rather obvious singing talents. Her voice is awesome and the feeling that she gives to every song is impressive. Yes Latin music fans, Ana is simply gorgious; but her real talents lie in her music and the emotion that she gives to every song.

Cause this trumps her last few albums. Very energetic; good balance between fast and slow; and her wonderful voice.

One problem: her baby. I'm glad that she is happy with her kid, but please leave him off your cd. He ruins a really good song. No more babies!

Still, highly recommended.

This CD is full of rhythmic songs that everybody can enjoy. Her voice is sensational and her new image is super hot. She does it again. No wonder why she is the best at what she does. All the songs are great, but Bandido and Lo mejor que te escuche are my favorites. Don't miss out and buy the album, you wont regret it.

Tex Mex grows up.......1999-12-24

Bandito Rock is a superb effort wherein Joe King Carrasco eschews his farfisa laden "Party Doll" image in favor of something more substantial. This is a bracing blend of politics, freedom, culture, tex-mex and high-energy latino rock. High-energy being the operable words - each song is delivered with an urgency and passion quite rare in most popular music. Each song has its own character and feel, and all are strong on their own merits. "Kry Tuff" is one of those great 6/8 blues ballads that sound like they've been around forever. "Juarez and Zapata" and "Fuera Yanqui" are the cornerstones of the album and will have you singing along the first time you hear them. And "Banana".....I suppose it's one of those love it or hate it kind of songs, but it's great in a Brave Combo sort of way. And both it and "Pachuco Hop" are key to the pacing of the album as well as links to Joe KC's past. Each of Joe KC's albums merit attention, however this one stands alone, both in its scope and availability. If you ever run into his older stuff at a used vinyl sale by all means check it out. But don't pass up this opportunity to hear something really special.

Too many throw aways.......1998-07-21

The album contains some excellent cuts. Best are "Bandido Rock", "Juarez and Zapata" and "Arriba Sandino". The Tex-Mex style remains as fun as ever. However, from a partyman like Joe who brought us such great, light hearted numbers as "Party Weekend" and "Yabba Ding Dang" it is a little hard to take the political overtones too seriously.
