Customer Reviews:
Fabulous for any Broadway-lover.......2007-01-30
Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.
Top Shelf.......2007-01-04
This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.
TERRIFIC CD'S.......2006-03-23
THESE BROADWAY MUSICALS CD'S ARE A BROADWAY LOVERS DREAM. WITH EACH SONG, MEMORIES COME FLOODING BACK. BOTH THE FAMILIAR AND THE FORGOTTEN SONGS ARE A TRUE LISTENING PLEASURE. IF YOU LIKE BROADWAY, YOU'LL LOVE THIS SET.
Great Collection of Broadways greatest Songs .......2005-06-14
This Collection was perfectly made it has almost all the most famous Broadway songs on this 5 cd set. The Music is great and has Broadways greatest treasures like "Memory""People""With One Look""Give my regards Too Broadway" just to name a few of this numerous cd set with over 100 songs. This is a great buy if you like musicals or The music of Broadway
Great Compilation!.......2005-01-17
If you are a fan of the Broadway Musicals, this is a collection that you should purchase. Since I got the 5 disc set I've enjoyed listening to it. The majority of the songs are done by the original singers. The collection is priceless considering that you will have over 100 songs from popular musicals since the beginning of Broadway

This two-disc collection delivers exactly what it promises: Every Top 10 hit achieved by Elvis Presley during his remarkable reign as the King of Rock & Roll. Beginning with his earliest singles from the mid-'50s--the bluesy "Heartbreak Hotel," the doowop-styled "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You," the folkish "Love Me Tender," and the raucous "Jailhouse Rock"--right through such melodramatic early-'60s chart-toppers as "It's Now or Never" and "Are You Lonesome Tonight," and on to late country-tinged hits as "In the Ghetto," "Suspicious Minds," and his final entry, the mucho macho "Burnin' Love," there's just no getting around Pesley's imposing history and accomplishments. --Billy Altman

Great Compilation of US Hit Singles.......2006-07-01
Originally compiled and released on the 10th anniversary of his death this is a great set of US hit singles.
No liner notes in this release.
Really like these cd sets.......2004-06-06
It is sounding good, and many of the songs I like, it is recommended to those of you who are fans of this very big shoe, (talent). It's great.
A must own cd for every Elvis fan!.......2003-01-09
How can you get any better than this. You have 38 of Elvis Presley's top ten hits. But I would like know why RCA doesn't have many cds with some Elvis songs you may have never heard of before, like ever songs on it like Blue Shedue Shoes and Such a Night instead of every almost cde having Elvis Presley's hits like Heartbreak Hotel, Don't Be Curel, Hound Dog, Suspicious Minds, Love Me Tender, One Night. My opinion of Elvis Presley's recorded vision of One Night, is bad. Instead of singing the lyrcs, he is like screaming them, but if you want to hear a much better vision of him sing One Night (I'd reccomend you to watch the Comeback Special).

All 38 Elvis top ten hits on two CDs.......2002-10-23
The title pretty much says it all on this one. You get two CDs containing all 38 (count them-38) top ten hits recorded by the King of Rock and Roll, everything from Heartbreak Hotel (1956) to Burning Love (1972). The tracks are arranged in order based on the date they debuted on the charts, but the listings also feature the recording date and highest chart position of each song. If someone asks you what Elvis' last number one song was, you will have no trouble answering the question (Suspicious Minds), nor will you have to look far to determine just how many number one hits the King had (18). The most amazing thing about Elvis' early hits is how many B sides topped the charts-Don't Be Cruel, if you can imagine it, was a B side hit (the A side was Hound Dog). There's really no need to go through the songs on this two-CD set; if you don't happen to recognize a title, you will surely know the song when you hear it. Elvis' music is timeless, and this is the ultimate Elvis time capsule. I can't imagine any reason for an Elvis fan to not own these CDs, and I cannot imagine a better way to introduce the King of Rock and Roll to someone unfamiliar with his incredible musical legacy.
Truly the King of Rock-and-Roll!.......2002-09-25
What can I say? He still rules! Top 10 and so many of them! The songs are in order of release so you hear how his style evolves and matures into the later styles of the 70's themes of social justice and deep love.
Avoid the #1 collection and get this one. You'll get them all plus more! So many great hits! Can I say that again? So many great hits!
The songs sound great too! As if you were in the recording studio!

Customer Reviews:
A Decent Mix.......2004-09-09
This disc highlights several interesting hits from the 70's. I didn't know all of the song names, but when I listened I found I recognized nearly all of them. Softer tunes like Jim Croce's "I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song" and Al Stewart's "Year of the Cat" contrast well with mild blues in Clapton's "Lay Down Sally" and classic rockers like "Spirit in the Sky." It's a good mix if you like a variety of styles on one disc.
One word of caution - the version of Don McClean's "American Pie" is cut rather short at 4:10. The original is over eight minutes! It was disheartening and a little ironic to hear the music fade out halfway through the story in a song about "the day the music died."
The Late, Great 1970's - 20 Top 10 Hits - Singer/Songwriters.......2004-05-27
If you grew up in the 1970's with your parent's music - on 8 track, no less, this kickin' CD compilation will transport you back in time. Back in time to the days of cut off jean short-shorts, tube socks, & Trax tennis shoes. Smoking candy cigarettes, eating Lik M' Aid, Boo Berry cereal, cold bologna out of the package, and drinking Coke from a glass bottle.
Singer/Songwriters have a sound all of their own. It's THEIR OWN words that they are singing, so naturally, they have more feeling behind their performances.
1. It's Too Late - Carole King belts out her own tune whilst playing her piano...
2. Ain't No Sunshine - Bill Withers and his smooth R&B hit single
3. Chuck E.'s in Love - Rickie "The Marble Mouth" Lee Jones rambles on about Chuck E.
4. Lowdown - Boz Scaggs with his hit
5. Your Song - Elton John's ballad that was a huge hit
6. Morning Has Broken - Cat Stevens' and his religious crossover success
7. At Seventeen - Janis Ian and her teenaged ridden angst. Her one hit wonder.
8. Lay Down Sally - Eric Clapton's great country meets rock single
9. American Pie - Don McLean's tribute to "The Day The Music Died"
10. Please Come to Boston - Dave Loggins' sad Hit song
11. Summer Breeze - Seals & Crofts' fun, lazy Summertime song
12. Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum and his funky 60's throwback
13. Poetry Man - Phoebe Snow and her wonderful hit with a song and lyrics that are one of a kind
14. I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song - Jim Croce's follow up hit to "Operator"
15. Hello It's Me - Todd Rundgren is another one hit wonder, but what a great tune
16. If You Could Read My Mind - Gordon Lightfoot's wonderful love song. True GORD'S GOLD
17. Sunshine (Go Away Today) - Jonathan Edwards' one hit Folk song wonder
18. That's the Way I've Always Heard It Should Be - Carly Simon's hit after Anticipation
19. I'd Love You to Want Me - Lobo's hit after "Me and You and A Dog Named Boo"
20. Year of the Cat - Al Stewart's year was a good one when this tune hit the charts.
This CD is great! I wish that they would release more singer/songwriter CD's for the different decades! I would buy 'em all!
Happy Listening!
Fantastic! It will bring you back to the 70s.......2002-11-06
I put this CD in at work and everyone just raved about it. Every song, we were like, "This is a great song!" I don't recognize all the names on this album, but once I listened to it, I recognized every song. It's a wonderful complilation album, probably one of the best, since I loved every song on the CD and how rare is that?
thanks for reading

Customer Reviews:
Fine collection of 70s radio rock.......2003-06-24
This generous collection (clocking in at a disc-stuffing 76:55) is filled with the radio candy that kept ears glued to the dial throughout the 70s. It may very well represent the last great gasp of top-40 radio, wherein the experimental sounds of 60s FM progressive rock were strained through the pop sensibilities of the AM hit single machine. These twenty selections focus on the rock hits of the 70s, eschewing other movements like disco, teen pop, and singer/songwriters (some of which are covered on other volumes of this series).
From Boston's intricately layered "More Than a Feeling" to Lynyrd Skynyrd's anthemic "Sweet Home Alabama," the electric guitar was rock radio's focal point, with outsized riffs (courtesy of Mick Ralphs, Paul Kossoff, Steve Miller, Carlos Santana, and Duane Allman, among others) topped by swaggering vocals from the likes of Paul Rodgers (Bad Company and Free) and Lou Gramm (Foreigner). The result filled arenas and summer days-on-the-green around the world.
Even acoustic numbers like Kansas' "Dust in the Wind" and novelties like Brownsville Station's "Smokin' in the Boys Room" resound with the era's allegiance to the overboard. Covers by Santana ("Black Magic Woman," originally waxed by Fleetwood Mac) and Nazareth ("Love Hurts," originally a hit for the Everly Brothers) became amped-up icons that buried the earlier incarnations for many listeners.
Though twenty tracks barely scratches the surface -- even in this relatively narrow swath of 70s hit music -- this is a solid hour-plus of party music that's sure to revive a few memories. It's like listening to your favorite Classic Rock station without the commercials!

Customer Reviews:
not all but a good sampling.......2004-10-13
As usual one could cry about who is not included (Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Baez, Arlo, Fred Neil, to mention a few). But what is included here is an excellent sampling of songs and artists who fit very well together and are representative of the era. A lot of tunes that I don't otherwise have already and probably would not have had in my collection, if it were not for there inclusion here. That in itself is worth the price of admission.
Stuff like Oliver's "Good Morning Starshine". By the way can anybody else here the seeds of John Denver there?

The Perfect 1-CD Overview!.......2005-09-03
Normally, I am not a fan of most compilation CDs, since I usually am a fan of albums, and not just singles. However, this new addition to the Casey Kasem American Top 10 collection is a must-have for newcomers to the 70s Rock era!
This album is the divider line between the other two 70s compilations from CK, being the Singers/Songwriters collection, and the "Classic Rock" collection. It features songs that made the 70s memorable, but they come from mostly renound artists that have a long career history. Many of the featured artists are dead, some of them do not exist anymore, but just as many artists are in fact still existing and making music today! This compilation disc not only introduces listeners to what made seventies music most memorable, but it also introduces the listener to songs that made the particular artists popular.
Unlike the other two more specific compilation sets from Casey Kasem, this set is an overview of many different genres and styles of 70s Rock music. The bands and performers included in this set were extraordinarily influencial for music to come in later decades, and it will certainly not ever be forgotten. Janis Joplin, for example, (whose "Me and Bobby McGee" is featured) set the bar high for female rock singers, being one of the first of her kind. The Steve Miller Band (whose "Joker" is featured) was a group of extremely tallented musicians who were some of the most popular rock artists of the time, known for their catchy lyrics and dance-able tunes. Peter Frampton (whose "I'm in You" is featured) is known for not only being a fantastic guitar play, but also for creating what could possibly be the best and most successful live album ("Frampton Comes Alive!") of all time. Styx (whose "Lady" is featured) was one of the toughest power-pop groups to ever exist, with a steady fan base, large fan base even after album after album got slammed by the critics nationwide. Boston (whose "Don't Look Back" is featured) holds the world record for the best-selling debut album of all time, most likely because every song on the album was a Top-10 Radio Hit some time after its release.
It is easy to see that there are a lot of gems on this 1-CD compilation disc. I could go on and explain why every selection is the perfect choice for the listener, but I feel that one should instead go out and buy this, so that they can decide for themselves. Every song featured is a timeless classic, worthy of any music fan's hearing. Every song featured also offers the perfect introduction to an era ruled by electric guitars, spandex, and some of the most evolutionary music of all time. I highly recommend the purchase of this compilation disc.
Enjoy the music!
-Andrew

These Atlanta, Georgia, pops can rock! Stay-at-home-dad John Boydston and Walt Brewer (ex-Jody Grind) have cleverly blended their passions for parenting and rock & rolling with the supergroovy Daddy à Go-Go release, Cool Music for Cool Kids. Tackling subject matter ranging from the merits of brushing your teeth to the pleasures of fatherhood to carpooling and diaper changing, Daddy à Go-Go fills the gap for hip parents and kids with a hankering for something cooler and more substantive than Barney, edgier than Raffi. Daddy à Go-Go makes jubilant jangle-pop recalling the '80s heyday of Athens, Georgia, as well as '60s three-chord pop. "I Can Swing By Myself" and "Ants in My Pants" are infectious bass-heavy twang-rockers, and the carpool song kicks some serious Neil Young-style booty. Instrumentals such as "The Thang from Planet Twang," "Chop 'Till You Drop," and "Glad to Be a Dad" are surf and rockabilly inflected explorations in sound and the boogie that follows. From Boydston's delightful originals to the Dads' covers of themes from Scooby Doo and Speed Racer, Daddy à Go-Go does a family good. --Paige La Grone
Album Description
"Cool Songs for Cool Kids" is Daddy A Go Go's first CD and was named to Amazon.com's first ever Top 10 Best Kids Records of the Year List (1999) and continues to be a favorite among Daddy a Go Go fans. All Music Guide writes: "Cool Songs for Cool Kids is a great introduction to Daddy a Go-Go's cool sound. The title of Daddy a Go-Go's debut Cool Songs for Cool Kids tells most of the story behind the album, though it leaves out the key ingredient of its appeal: the cool dads that comprise Daddy a Go-Go. Walt Brewer and John Boydston mix elements of surf, rockabilly, bubblegum, and classic rock and playful themes into 15 fun songs for kids and parents. Rough, jangly covers of the theme songs to Scooby Doo and Speed Racer, surfy instrumentals like "The Thang From Planet Twang," and witty originals like "Dads in the Sky" and "Daddy's Diaper Blues" reflect the different sides of Daddy a Go-Go's fun, unique style." Its a kids record that doesn't talk down to kids (or to parents) and begins the Daddy a Go Go tradition of never insulting anyone's intelligence, while keeping it fun. Daddy a Go Go has 5 CD's, so check out Daddy A Go Go's other 4 CD's here at Amazon.com, starting with the 2006 release "Eat Every Bean and Pea On Your Plate," one of Amazon.com's Top 10 Best Kids CD"s of the Year Choices. Also Parents Choice Award Winner "Monkey In The Middle," which was also named to Amazon.com's Top 10 Best Kids Records of the Year in 2000. "Big Rock Rooster" expands Daddy a Go Go's notion of rock and roll for the family with rom covers of Allan Sherman's "Hello Muddah,Hello Faddah" and a punchy version of "Come On Get Happy", to fun clever originals like "I Wanna Be An Action Figure" and "I Think I Might Be a Dog." And in 2004 Daddy A Go Go won a 2nd Parents Choice Award with "Mojo A Go Go - Real Rock For Kids" CD, which was again named to Amazon.com's Top 10 Best Kids CD's The Year List. Check out these other CD's as well, and look for Daddy A Go Go's 5th CD release in spring 2006. Check them all out.
Customer Reviews:
Did not like this at all..........2007-02-06
I was very disappointed in this album. I bought it after reading the reviews, many of which stated that this album was one they enjoyed listening to as much as their kids. In my opinion, it sounds very canned and synthy. But it just might be my taste. I'm a huge fan of Elizabeth Mitchell, whose instrumentation is very minimal and whose songs really stand on the vocals and the lyrics. Daddy a Go-Go's songs are too chaotic for me!
fun songs.......2005-08-24
This is a fun dance CD. We haven't tried it in the car yet, but we have a great time singing the ABC's and my favorite, Speed Racer.
Parent-Friendly Kids' Music.......2000-12-30
This is one of only a few of our kids' cds that my husband & I don't mind hearing over & over. The kids are three & five, and, of course, want to hear the same cd again and again - this one is actually tolerable even if you've already heard it five times that day....it's also good for getting the kids moving - it's very danceable.
We love this CD!.......2000-09-10
This is a great CD. My 3-year-old daughter can't help but dance when she hears it. The first time I played it, she sang the alphabet to the "Alphabet Song". It's great to find such a fabulous collection of kids' music all on one CD. We played the CD 3 times the first day we had it. Buy this one!
Fun Music for All Ages!.......2000-03-14
We bought this album because we wanted music that the whole family could enjoy, an does it deliver! Often with children's music the songs can get pretty boring after awhile. This CD is full of fun dance tunes and even throws in a little lesson on personal hygiene with "brush your teeth!". Our three year old has been listening and dancing to it since he was 21 months old. We know our 3 month old will love it too. We can't wait for more from these Go-Go Daddies!
