Few so-called "Greatest Hits" albums do as good a job at selecting the works that are truly most representative of the artist. This CD does, with the exception of his early works with Eddie Palmieri (he was not a single recording artist at the time). I strongly recommend this CD for the true Salsa fans, as it is Quintessentially Puerto Rican Salsa!

Along with Cheo Feliciano, Ismael Miranda and Oscar D'Leon, Andy Montanez is one of the few true and real salsa soneros still around today. This 2-CD set is nothing short of spectacular and features all of his huge solo hits ("Payaso", "Querube", "Cena Inconclusa", "Dulce Veneno", "Genio Y Figura", etc.). Andy's prolific solo career is well-documented here and (given its price)this package is really a bargain.

Andy Montanez did not enter the world of "SALSA", he was born in it.With forty years in the business this true sonero is what salsa music is all about. Andy puts soul and feeling in all of his recordings as this compilation shows. Here he shows his different abilities as a sonero.From his masterfull interpertation in track one to the romantic jem 'Palabras de Mujer' andy will make you live the music.

I started taking dance lessons 10 months ago for fun, I got hooked on the Salsa, I love Elvis Crespo but Frankie is hands down the best i'm planning on putting my moves to the test at the Copa (one day) I have a routine to do at my dance class to graduate to the next level (this will be my bronze)i'll be dancing to La Cura! I hope everyone gets a Salsa out of it.

After spending the first half of the 1980s with Orquesta La Solucion and Tommy Olivencia's orchestra the late Frankie Ruiz signed as a solo artist with TH-Rodven Records. Virtually all of his classic 1985-92 solo hits are included here and this 2-CD set is an "Essential" for any fan of 1980s Salsa. Frankie Ruiz was an undisputed icon of 1980s and '90s Salsa and his music remains both timeless and relevant to this day.

      Tommy Olivencia's years at TH-Rodven Records(1979-90) yielded one hit after another. The late Frankie Ruiz and Hector Tricoche were Olivencia's most popular singers of the 1980s but Paquito Guzman, Simon Perez, Carlos Alexis and a very young Gilberto Santa Rosa are also featured and all contribute solid efforts. A great band at its best.

      Raphie Leavitt's Orquesta La Selecta is one of the longest-running Puerto Rican salsa bands. This compilation contains such classics as "El Volantin", "A Tropezon", "Siempre Alegre", "El Fogon", "Declaracion Musical" and "Perla Mala". While La Selecta's popularity never matched that of Leavitt's fellow bandleaders Willie Rosario, Bobby Valentin, Roberto Roena and Tommy Olivencia it's still a much-revered band. This 2-CD set is chock-full of great and heavy-duty Puerto Rican salsa.

        Another double CD featuring more of Frankie's big hits. This one, however, spotlights his '90s work and is full of swinging, hot and classy salsa and is a sure bet if you're looking for good salsa. The lack of liner notes is frustrating, though.

Probably one of the best salseros that ever lived, If you want to dance salsa and if your good at it, this an album to crank in your house. Every song is amazing. Frankie puts heart into his music. To this day the songs on his album are played at the hottest latin clubs. If you love salsa, this is a must have.
