Eric Berman(piano)-PIanist from San Francisco past 20 years. Lived abroad in Barcelona,Spain in the mid eighties. Studied in Cuba with Chucho Valdez. Has worked ine Bay Area with numerous salsa bands. Leads his own trio and quintet.

Sexy and Mellow Brazilian Musical CD...Lovely! .......2007-05-22

I saw the movie "Woman on Top" recently and just LOVED the music in the movie, along with the movie itself.... Therefore, I immediately bought the CD, to recapture the romantic mood of the movie.

Well, I was not disappointed in the CD at all. It is quite mellow and sexy at the same time---just like the movie.

For those that have not seen the movie, I would describe it as a "Fantasy Romance" movie. The music fits the style of the movie beautifully.

This CD can be enjoyed while cooking any meal, & with a good glass of fine wine in hand.

Get ready to sway to the soft Brazilian sounds!

This CD will sound better and better , the more times you play it! That's the effect it has had on me.

Wonderful Movie***Wonderful CD.......2007-05-20

I enjoyed the movie so much I just had to get the sound track (I also got the CD "Bossa Nova Brazil" and "The Girl from Ipanema: The Antonio Carlos Jobim Songbook"....very good). The songs are so sensual, that they put you in the mood to samba and shake it up, but at the same time it relaxes you. It does what seldom many songs do; energize you and soothe you all at once; now you tell me what other music can do that. I have not been to Brazil, but just hearing the songs, I feel like I am there; holding the one you love or just alone, you are at the right place and at the right time, when you play this CD. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Sunny,breezy,sexy flick-with unfortuatley the beautiful and smart heroinne backing down to being hopelessly in love wtih a jerk. The backgounds are beautiful especially if you love to cook, love to eat and drink wine. Most impressive was the music. Very catchy, brazilian-play it want you want to get that special someone in the mood!

Unique Sounds of Brazil.......2006-08-14

The style of music is a tropical jazzy yet romantic sound. It is so enjoyable and relaxing. I don't know the language and certainly don't know about the artists, but because I heard the music from the movie is what moved me to buy it. It has intrigued my curiosity to learn more about the sounds and music of Brazil.

perfect for wining and dining.......2006-07-06

I first bought this LP in 1978. Wonderful music played by virtuoso Almeida and beautifully arranged by Lex Azevedo (echoes of Nelson Riddle).Try it (as I did)with a date on the beach with the waves rolling in. Just perfect. Midway through, you`ll be harmonising with the music and the sea. My favourite is Distant Shores. It was a 1965 top 30 hit by Chad and Jeremy. Only found that out yesterday thanks to the Net. Here`s That Rainy Day and Bluesette are also outstanding tracks. A must have. Thanks to Japan EMI for this long-awaited first reissue on CD. I still think my LP yields better sound.

Great band. Incredibly melodic and talented at the same time. They are somewhat of an anomaly in Brasil at this time where most of the music is heavy metal and or funk rock. Lyrics are in portuguese but many people that I know that don't understand the language are in love with this album.

Fans of anything as crazy as The United States of America or The Misunderstood to stuff as common and mellow as R.E.M. or XTC would most probably appreciate this music. The only band that I know of that can cover Astronomy Domine or Tomorrow Never Knows without looking foolish.
