Album Description

This Hawthorne, CA quintet formed a year and a half ago, touring with Pinback, The New Amsterdams, and Polyphonic Spree. The five songs on "Los Arboles" (meaning the trees in Spanish) represent the range and ability that dios (always lowercase) possess as songwriters. The EP ranges from pop-tinged to crunchy rock to melancholic Lennon-esque. For fans of The Beatles, Beach Boys, The Notwist, and Mum.

Gosh, I really didn't know what to expect with Dios. I went into listening to this EP with open ears and an open mind.

And thankfully I am not disappointed!

Where I think most bands fail is their quickness to jump into that alternative-pop mushy yucky sound (you know the sound I'm talking about, Jimmy Eats World, Good Charlotte, Insert-Inane-Emo-Pop-Band Here).

It's refreshing to hear intelligent, beautiful, approachable music. Dios' EP is richly layered with gorgeous melodies, and precise instrumentation. Truly a gem!

Movin' on up.......2004-02-19

I saw this band six years ago at a backyard birthday party in Hawthorne in front of 5 people, and if they keep improving at this rate, they'll be better than Led Zeppelin by June. These dudes are radical. Unique yet comfortably familiar, good music always sounds right. Being cute as hell doesn't hurt either.

Part Rain Parade, part Dokken, fans of Eddie Vedder's work with the band C-Average will love this EP from Dios. What can you say when Bach meets late-model Monkees? Beach Boys fans, grab your checkbooks. The rhythym section is subtly magnificient.

I only wish I could wait for their full-legth album to come out. What a music from the band. I like it and hope to hear more music from this band. A lot is their Hawthorne but their better than Beach Boys - I think they are a lot better and their is definitely none of that surfing stuff.

Cuesta creer que este grandioso artista pueda seguir haciendo arte sin importarle sellos, grabadoras ni el bussines del rock mundial. Spinetta sigue desafiando a los ciegos de espíritu, o a los que vendieron sus ideas por un hit. Para los Arboles es un viaje inigualable, pleno de matices, donde el maestro espiritual que parece hablar a través de su poesía vuelve a expresarse en todo su esplendor. Imperdible.

Indiscutiblemente el mas grande de todos los roqueros latinos y en mi opinion uno de los mas grandes y auténticos musicos sin discusion alguna, la versatilidad que muestra el flaco spinetta en este álbum no es nada nuevo, ya que después de tener trabajos mas densos con los socios del desierto tenemos la dicha de seguir redescubriendo la genialidad que muestra siempre en cada trabajo que como siempre es un postulado de sensibilidad y filosofia que sale de lo mas adentro de su genialidad, este álbum se remonta en mi opinion a trabajos como los que realizó en la etapa jade y obras como peluson of milk, madre en años luz, experimentando con loops y trabajando con uno de los mas grandes genios de los teclados como es claudio cardone, en conclusion es un deleite por la fineza en toda la magnitud de la palabra. su amor, alli y agua de la miseria son acapites que pueden dar testimonio de que spinetta cada vez es mas grande.
