Storyteller EXTRAORDINAIRE!.......2000-09-27

For many years I have wondered what made the voice of Javier Soliz the very best Mexico has ever produced and I think I have hit the nail on the head. Like a great storyteller that rivets your complete attention, Javier could do this with a song. His interpretation is so clean and dramatic that he takes your imagination in feeling every emotion that the original author felt when writing the verse. To fully appreciate his music it helps to understand the language and appreciate the fabulous poetry in each song, which is so rare in songs nowadays. I had a friend who didn't know Spanish but absolutely fell in love with the qualities of the voice. Perhaps this is the best album that clearly brings out the sweet nuances of Javier's voice, especially when he sings that heartbreaking song, "Esta Noche Pago Yo." You actually feel the pain and anguish of the man who had lost the love of his life. In "Gracias", your heart feels glad in appreciation for someone who has always been faithful to you. For your money, you get some of Javier's greatest songs.
