Book Description
The Employee Starter Kit for Process Thinking is an all-in-one tool for managers and employees of all levels that provides a clear definition of process thinking; tools for communicating process thinking throughout an organization; and a step-by-step guide for applying process thinking to any goal. The book provides a straightforward definition of process, taking a complex topic and explaining it in simple and logical terms. Furthermore, the book contains tools that will help any individual communicate the concepts of process thinking. It also demonstrates how to apply process thinking through a step-by-step guide.
To accomplish these objectives, the book is divided into two distinct parts:
Part One is a story portion that provides the method for communicating process thinking. In Part One, the reader is exposed to all the essential elements of process thinking through the story of Pete and Carl, two ordinary employees. In the book, Pete is having difficulty understanding the concept of process thinking and even more trouble understanding how it would apply to his job. By the end of Part One, Carl has successfully coached Pete into understanding the definition of process and how it might apply to his specific role in the organization. Throughout Part One, the reader is carefully exposed to many of the concepts and tools for using process thinking.
Part Two provides the how-to portion that takes the reader through a step-by-step guide applying process thinking to a fundamental business situation. The author uses the universal act of trying to find a job to make his case. Using the ten coaching points, the reader is encouraged to take on their processes and follow along. Slowly and deliberately the points build on each other. By the end of the book, the reader has not only visualized his work in a way not previously thought possible, but she's moved from the theoretical to the practical. What she creates, she will use.
